Excellent Choice
I have purchased a few books for pharmacy tech and find this to be the most successful. The author states facts clearly. It is easy to understand and is full of useful information. I strongly recommend it to all in the pharmacy field. It helped me understand it all and the tests were a great review. It is definetly worth your time and money. It really is an excellent choice! A Must HaveBook
I have had the pleasure of being a student of Dr. Moini's. He is very interesting and informative on the pharmacy tech program. His book is laid out so that you can follow and understand each subject. I recommend this book for anyone wanting to be a pharmacy tech.

A Big Disappointment
While it's true that this book covers quite a bit of material, has nice pictures and is reasonably well organized, the publishers should immediately fire whoever it was that claims to have proofread this mess! And this textbook is indeed a mess.

Understand The Amish As They Really Are
Many readers probably bought this book after visiting an Amish community or seeing a Hollywood movie that triggered their curiosity for a culture and a way of life that seem to defy the passing of time. For most people, it will be the first and also perhaps the last ethnographic study that they read. They couldn't have fallen on a better piece of work. Not only will they learn a wealth of facts about the Amish, their history, their beliefs, and their social organization, but they will also come across a fine scholarly work that makes use of the distinctive methods of the social sciences in a thoroughly accessible way.
In-depth, scholarly and effective
Growing up near some scattered Amish church districts in Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York, I have always been interested in learning more about the Amish going way back to my childhood.Hostetler's book is my first attempt at this and I managed to pick a very good starting point.
Interesting but sometimes slow
This book is so informative, but at some points it is slow moving. The good thing about the book is that the chapters are divided so you can skip chapters you don't think you would be interested in.It is a great book to buy if you are interested or wanting to learn more about the amish community.It covers everything from funerals to marriage.A great read! ... Good content Poor Design
The book is very helpful.The layout does not make for easy reading. The book would be much better with good visuals and less chunky paragraph style writing - the virtues of bullet points especially during pre-exam reading.

At last, a good intro to epi book for students!
This book is an excellent introduction to epidemiology. The authors present epidemiologic concepts in an easy-to-understand manner with interesting supportive examples from the fields of reproductive health and HIV epidemiology. In addition to the standard chapters on study design, bias, and confounding, the book also includes very good chapters on measurement error, causation, and screening, as well as tried-and-proven guidelines for a critical review of epidemiologic studies. Troubling Guide to Alien Territory
This books offers a broad coverage of health care topics for a non-financial person.It is most deeply flawed for its inability to communicate clearly to a lay person.Essentially it is a vocabulary primer of important financial principles and concepts.It requires abstract thinking and the ability to follow mathematical models. Excellent Book
I was fortunate enough to be a student of Linda Swaynes @ UNC Charlotte.We were the first class to use this book.Not only was Ms. Swayne excellent at what she taught but the book was a tool that explained the theories in nice detail.I continue to use the book as a resource.I am currently a hospital CEO.

Great balance of theory and practice
I used this text for a class in health care management. I was impressed by the readability of the text, the incredible amount of information it contained, and the great balance of theory with practical approaches. Many books about management are a bit short in the area of practical tools. This one gives you tools to work with. I used the outline of this book to do a strategic analysis of an organization with which I work. The only significant weakness of the book is the uneven quality of the case studies. These were contributed by outside authors. Some of these are terrific, others are not well written and not so helpful. Hope this gets corrected in the new edition.

Get this while studying for licensure!
I purchased this book while studying for my national and state licensing exams. As many other reviewers have noted, this is an excellent resource. Reading this book in between session provided me with a healthy break from the rigours of studying, while orienting me to thinking about the procedures and forms I needed to be developing for my practice once licensed. There is a wealth of information that could be a bit overwhelming as you are glowing over your new shiny license number and wondering what you need to do to get your clients into your practice. Using the strategy of tackling a form a day was also very helpful for me. This book will go a long way to helping you create a sound set of ethical and effective business practices that was probably not covered at all in your graduate training.

Second career?
My daughter works with horses, makes very good money, but only works 20 hours a week. She was considering taking medical transcriptionist courses.I bought this book to give her a real taste of what the courses would be like. It would be a good additional career if she could work it around the horse training she loves and excels at.This book is perfect for anyone considering a medical transcriptionist career. I gives you a very clear idea what is involved in beginning transcription.

This is the textbook I used in my Beginning Medical Transcription course and I found it to be very helpful.Audio cassette tapes were given out from the teacher with model operative, autopsy, H & P, cytology, and consultation reports that coincided with the lessons in the book. The terminology that was in each chapter was used frequently in the reports to assimilate the student with typing the words, as well as being able to hear it pronounced in different ways.It gave a background lesson in basic terminology, including suffixes and root words.I thought that this book helped me in great ways. ...
