The other side of awareness ...
I do think that the awareness of preventative screening and making women conscious of their health is a positive testament to many runs and galas dedicated to a cure for breast cancer. Treatment options are still evolving but overall, the pink ribbon phenomenon has created the awareness of the disease like never before. What this book does examine is what happens beyond the gala fundraisers ... how does the money raised translate into actual cure outcomes? This is similar to the commens made when AIDS fundraising crossed into a showbiz opportunity. However, despite the pinkwash of breast cancer awareness month ... one thing really seems to be clear ... the condition is top of mind, women are more likely to mind their health, and more money is raised than before towards treatment. Like the saying ... all roads lead eventually lead to Rome .... all efforts eventually lead to a cure in some way, shape, or form. Nothing is ever wasted especially when the intent of many individual fundraisers really is true and comes from the heart.

Practically useless
Don't waste your money on this useless paperweight. I had to buy it for a college class, so I had no choice. The treatment of accounting is too superficial. It claims to give the reader a good grasp on balance sheets and income statements, but fails to adequately define or explain many of the terms used on actual corporate statements. The chapters on costing, and budgeting introduce some theory, but by the time you are finished, you still have no idea how to actually construct a budget. The financial chapters aresuperficial, and at the same time use statistical concepts that are not explained, leaving the unprepared student rubbing his or her head and wondering what the hell the discussion was about. On that note, the entire book suffers from the useage of terms and concepts that are either poorly explained or not explained at all. The book covers a good spectrum of financial subjects, but all are covered too poorly to be of any use to a real-world manager.The actual useful information in the book could probably be condensed to 10 pages. The rest is useless fluff that talks ABOUT the subjects without telling the student how to actually accomplish something.In short, the book gives little practical training and is heavy on theory, but the theory is superficial and incomplete, so the book is just about useless. I bought an inexpensive book on accounting and another on budgeting (about 150 pages each)that answered my questions and taught me the basics of how to accomplish those functions. I won't say which ones, as I don't want to be accused of representing those authors or publishers, but just know that almost any financial books you buy will be better than this one. ... Read more

Oh Please!!
If your health is your concern then this awful little book misses by a mile.It has always amazed me the number of people who profess to draw conclusions from evidence but have no basic mastery of critical thinking or logic.It is as if they skipped or failed that class in college but decided they were smart enough that it didn't matter.Mr. Richards' book is a poster child for failed logic, opinion masquerading as fact and belief in the written word regardless of source.The only thing he lacks is a chapter on who shot JFK. (...I read on the net the Skull and Bones was involved and the CIA covered it up)
You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book
Illuminati and Bilderbergers at it again?
Although this book confirms many of our suspicions that the FDA and the pharmaceutical companies have an unseemly relationship that does not result in the protection of the public, the author spends too much time dredging up well-known conspiracy theories. More than half of the book is taken up in explaining the relationship between the 'One-World-Government' and big industrialists. One can go to dozens of web sites to get that type of information without spending any money.When I started wading through Richards' past history of the conspirators, I was wondering how long it would take before he brought in the Illuminati, the Bilderbergers and the Jews. Lo and behold, the first two made their appearance on cue and I was pleasantly surprised that, for once, a conspiracy theorist left the Jews alone.

A book for policy planners and not clinicians
This is a book for American policy makers.It is not a book for clinicians so it is not meant for me.It has reconditions for clinicians but these recommendations are probably better made elsewhere by other sources.If you are a clinician in Australia, for example, there are a number of organisations that should be approached individually such as one's college (one's board, in other words), hospital (for ACHS and in-house measures), HIC, and, or course, one's insurer.All of those people will be able tell you exactly what to study.Insurers have money at stake so they are well motivated.I asked a legal officer at my insurer if they could help with quality issues and she said "you're kidding" and paused while I wondered if I had asked a stupid question or offended her.

Happy with Delivery

I STILL use it!
Granted, Dr. Yoder-Wise TAUGHT my leadership class is nursing school so we HAD to buy her book, but it has been the most useful book to me since I graduated from Texas Tech in '99. I have used the CV and resume' forms multiple times for job applications and graduate school. It's packed full of very useful information. Lots of good sources for legal/ethical and cultural diversity for paper writing too!
