Nice and Well Organized Book.
I had this book for about two semesters, in college by the way. The first semester I dropped it and finally the second semester I got a B. Interesting hm? Anyhow, the book contains a large amount of information including very nice diagrams and photographs and has vastly improved in my opinion from the early first few editions. What makes this book extremely informative is the fact that it is pretty well organized and set up including indexing and clear contents listing. 16 chapters starting slowly from the basics of the human body, its relations to chemistry, cells and tissues, and finally going more in depth by digging deep into the organ systems and the human anatomy.
Tolerable
This book has some useful diagrams and illustrations.It's easy to read, but seems a bit too simplified at times.Also, I think the editors were a bit lax on the writing, personally.The CD quizes are helpful for review.

Informative and highly understandable textbook

helpful, but needed more examples
I used book for my Yoga Teacher training course. Learning the larger muscles is easy, but the smaller more detailed, deeper muscles is diffucult. This book really illustrated these wonderfully!
great book
The pictures are really good, and the writing is quite clear. I am a graduate student in Movement Science, so am interested in the scientific aspects of movement. This book is an excellent bridge between the dancer/movement specialist and the biomechanics student.

Emergency Medicine: Comprehensive Study Guide 6th edition
This book is a must.Its useful for any person who practice in the ER as well the outpatient.Is very good for general reference.The book give a review of the problem with a management oriented to the adequate level of care. Cover
This book is an excellent learning tool!
This book is a great textbook of emergency medicine, and I've chosen it over others simply because it's comprehensive without the useless drivel.Each section includes the necessary anatomy and pathophysiological considerations for the respective disoders.The subset of conditions are mentioned with just enough facts to understand the morbidity to treat it.The pictures, diagrams, algorithmic flow-charts, and drug regimens are a nice compliment, however, most of your clinical experience is going to come from interships and residency, so to assume this book is all you'll need to get by in EM is crazy.I still think it's the best out there to read before putting your mind to work.

Downward Spiral on Autopilot
*Emergency Medicine, A Comprehensive Study Guide* has long been a well-regarded standard emergency text, useful in day-to-day practice as well as for board preparation.This new edition has advanced the enlightened 'evidence-based recommendations' for changes in practice patterns, however, the lack of editorial control has resulted in a book packed with conflicting information.Each chapter is written by a different consultant, and unfortunately not all of them are up on this concept... we therefore get a series of conflicting statements when there is overlap in topics, and there is no attempt to reconcile this variability.Admittedly, opinions in much of medicine do vary; but outright conflict within a few pages in a standard text without discussion does harm to credibility.Read more

Hole's Anatomy & Physiology
I ordered this text book through Amazon because the school book store was out.In my past experiences with Amazon, I have been able to receive the same product, faster and sometimes cheaper.In this case, all was true except the book store book came with a very necessary CD, the book with Amazon did not.

Trigger point mania
I love this book I have had a chance to use it a lot in my practice. It has tons of great information, be prepared a long read it is a medical manual so to speak and it can be a little on the long side, but if your up for it, It is a fantastic asset...

Excellent text
I found the information quite thorough.It is written in a user-friendly way, easy to understand.I bought this book because it was listed as a reference for the chiropractic practice part 2 exam.This book helped me with the locations of the trigger points.Sometimes the chiro boards like to ask questions on trigger points.However, Leonardi's book: National Board of Chiropractic Part II Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers and National Board of Chiropractic Part III Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations are excellent for board exam preparation.These three books are needed for the part II and Part III of the boards.

The ultimate in drug-free pain relief!

Primary Step 1 Resource
There is a reason this book is ubiquitous among students studying for USMLE Step 1: it gets results. It contains a section giving advice for studying for the test, high-yield facts and figures for the subjects, and reviews of other resources. It is a great value for the price.
A good place to begin
Having just taken the Step 1, I have to say that I am considerably less enthused with this book than most everyone else. It does do a good job of reviewing the basic points and some of the associated details. However, I found that quite a few items on my test did not appear in First Aid at all, and that overall the level of detail was insufficient. I was also using QBank and BSR and altogether they still failed to include enough material on courses taught in the first year, specifically pharmacology and cellular pathways, which were heavily emphasized on the exam. So while this book is definitely a nice point to jump off from, it could use some heavy updating.

All you need - nothing more
This book lives up to more than its title has suggested. Its extremely high-yield contents are all you need (you wonder how they know all these). Read it a few times and memorise it all (if you can) and it's a slam dunk! ... Read more

Pictures are sometimes confusing
I bought this book for the ASL class I am taking. I missed one week and tried to use the book to teach myself the missed lesson. I did not understand about a third of the diagrams on how to do the different signs. I have seen some sources with explanations to accompany signs which would have made this book much clearer.

Learning American Sign Language
This book is a good one to accompany an ASL class.It is hard to display three dimensional signs on a two dimensional picture.The aid of an instructor makes up for this difficulty.Also some of the vocabluary is not quite right for conversations.The instructor helps straighten out these conflicts.It is a good book with a lot of information as a textbook should be and that is why it is a required text for the class I am taking.

Not the best way to learn Sign language

ExcellentFirst Read
This is an excellent introductory text book in radiology. It contains excellent images and covers the key fundamentals in radiology. It would be ideal for the PGY1 or PGY2 resident to read through to gain familarity in radiology before moving on to the major reference texts. Very readable book that does not overwhelm the junior resident with needless minutia.

Fundamental of Diagnostic Radiology
This is the single excellent book for Radiology Residents and General Radiologists. Seperate sections on US and NM are the best parts of this book. CT Scan and MRI are dispersed with the General Radiology. If the authors create seperate sections of CT and MRI like US and NM in the next edition, the book will become the only perfect book in General Radiology. This book contains treasure of knowledge for the Radiology residents and racticing General Radiologists.

Concise but not enough for residency.
Not a bad overview of most subjects, but some areas are lacking.The bone trauma subsection is particularly scant, excluding all of the fracture grading schemes.Additionally, while somewhat dedicated to differential generating, you don't really get a feel for what is actually common. ... Read more

Best radiology book on the market, great for nat'l boards
I graduated chiropractic school this year.I used this book in school and found this it to be filled with lots of info on soft and hard tissue pathology.The radiographs are excellent in this book.Every condition from spinal bifida occulta to fibrous dysplasia is described with the utmost detail.Every chapter has a helpful summary that summarizes all the important points of each condition.I also used this book to help me study for Part II, III and IV of the National Boards.However, if you really want a great book to study for the national boards do what my study group and I did, get the following: Yochum & Rowe Essentials
An essential text for all chiropractic and medical students as well as practicing doctors.Useful write-ups on hundreds of conditions.Wonderful coverage of arthritides and tumors.Huge section on normals and a small section on positioning.The only place it's lacking is in chest and abdomen, and that's because it's a book on skeletal radiology.I couldn't do without it.

A MUST BUY!

An excellent overview
There is a very good reason this series is endorsed by the NPTA.Of the six or so books that I used to study for the exam, this was the most helpful by far.It reviews every topic on the exam, and is a great starting place to see what you need more work on.This is the book that got me a passing score on the exam, and I don't really think I can give it higher praise than that.

Great workbook
This book is a great study guide to prepare for the certification exam. The book is easy to read and it leaves out all the fluff that is in the other study books. After reading and doing the practice exams I found what my weaknesses were and was able to go back to my schoolbooks to strengthen those areas. I took the certification exam this month (March) and think I did fine; there are a lot of math questions in the exam and wish I spent more time in that area.

You NEED this Book
Absolutely essential. Excellent coverage of topics. Easy to use format. A can't live without it book. I use it daily.

Great!
I am currently a second year PA student.This has been an amazing help on my rotations, all of them.I recommended it several of my classmates; they also love it.We have a test at the end of each rotation, and this is a perfect way to review. Just the facts without much fluff.It is also a handy reference in the clinic.

It became boring. Look at the endocrinology section. It claims if there is only one study related to selenium theraphy in autoimmune thyroiditis in the editions of 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006... A book that every opthometrist should have
This book have mostly of the phatologies that we found in every day practice.Even do that we as opthometrist don't treat all of them, is very important that as primary eye care providers we give our patients the proper information about their simptoms and their desease.I find this booh very handy to understand most of the ocular pathologies for non eye doctors and students as well. This is a terrific book. It's written at a very basic, reader-friendly level. Likewise, the information is presented in a logical, organized manner. Also, the Student CD-Rom contains tons of extra resources, that really helped me master the material.

ACLS Study Guide 3rd ED
I love this book!The author sounds exactly like me...scared to death to take an ACLS course.I have just started using this book but so far it has helped to calm my fears/anxiety. I also have the American Heart Association book, but this one explains things very basically for those of us not in critical care and/or have no critical care experience.It gets to the point in an understandable way.I would recommend it to anyone!

Fantastic!
I'm a high school student, and I had the privilege of taking medical terminology during my sophomore year.This book was fantastic is teaching complicated topics.The flash cards are great and the outline of it is great as well.

Excellent Medical Terminology Resource
This book was an excellent resource for someone who has little medical background. Difficult concepts were made easy thanks to the included study aids. I especially liked the various memory tips that were given throughout the book. I would highly recommend this book for novices as well as experts.

Excellent Review Book!
I used this book for the first semester of medical school. It gives a quick overview of each system of the human body as well as abbreviations commonly used. It's an easy read. A perfect complement for anyone needing a quick, but thorough, medical terminology overview.

The Standard of Practice for Disaster Medicine
Briggs and Brinsfield have written a comprehensive, easy to understand manual detailing the medical and public health response to disasters. Important reading for all in the disaster preparedness and response field.

Not as good as First Aid for Step 1
I was very disappointed with this resource for CK prep. I found Step 2 secrets to be far superior. I purchased and read First Aid for Step 2 CK based on my positive experience with First Aid for Step 1. Much to my disappointment, First Aid for CK contained quite a large amount of basic information that just isn't high yield on step 2. For example, the basic ins and outs of ECG. On the exam, pertinent ECG findings are usually given, and then you're asked to make a clinical decision (e.g. next test or step in management) based on the ECG findings and other data presented. Step 2 secrets is a much more clinically oriented review of material for CK. WARNING: don't rely heavily on First Aid for CK or you'll be disappointed. USMLE world and Kaplan Qbank are probably the best review resources out there, with review books serving as supplements. Unfortunately, First Aid for Step 2 CK was not very helpful. See my review of step 2 secrets, as I consider it to be the best text resource (remember, only as a supplement to online question banks) for CK. I'm not bashing the First Aid series because many are very good books. For example, First Aid for step 2 CS is right on the money (see my review of First Aid for step 2 CS).

Helpful
I agree with other reviewers. It doesn't come close to the usefulness of Step 1. It contains too little information considered high yield in the exam. Definitely not to be used by itself.
Not bad, but not essential
Unlike the step 1 First Aid book, which was simply phenomenal (not to mention vital) for studying for the exam, the First Aid for Step II CK was a so/so text.It's fairly long, and wasn't as concise or as targeted as the step I book, and took more time to really study it and attain the same degree of comfort that I had after reading the first one.Some of this could be accounted for by the sheer scope of the examination itself.Not only does this cover all of the core specialty rotations (and a fair amount of subspecialty info as well) that you will be exposed to as a 3rd year clinical clerk, but it also needs to re-cover a good portion of the step I material that has been delightfully repackaged (i.e. those yummy glycogen storage diseases that you thought were gone forever.... think again!This time, they give you the vague clinical presentation, and then ask about the enzyme).
