Excellent for beginners
I have been wanting to teach myself to sing for several years, since I can't afford voice lessons, and have tried several books on the subject. This one is by far the best. I first tried books by William Vennard and Richard Miller and found that they were meant for advanced students, not beginners. There are other books for beginners, but they aren't usually meant for classical singing, more for pop (and I find that the authors don't really seem to have much of an understanding of the human voice). I don't know how he does it, but Brown manages to make normally difficult concepts easy to understand. Part of that is because of the CD that comes with it. It helps give a better understanding of what he's trying to explain. I would highly recommend this book for anyone trying to learn how to sing classically.

Highly recommended
This book provides a very easy to read, well-illustrated, and thorough approach to EKG's.I have tried to use other EKG books in the past and found them too superficial & piecemeal or too boring & dense/text-oriented.First of all the book is filled with hundreds of full-page "real EKG's" that are used as the examples for the teaching points. There are also many color digrams.I like how this book gives a nice step-by-step approach, very easy to read.I aslo like how it has different "levels" so that if I want to dive in deeper and learn more subtle/advanced interpretations, it's all right there, with the basic level info next to it for quick review.I like how even this book's "basic/intro" level covered much more practical material than other books...when I first went through it, even after only getting through half of the intro level, I finally understood what is J point, and what atrial enlargement looks like.

Excellent 12 Lead ECG Book for All Levels
This is by far the best book for learning and refining 12-lead ECG interpretation skills that I have read. The material is structured so that it can be used as a classroom text or as a self-guided teaching tool.Within the book, Garcia and Holtz divide the material into three clearly marked levels from a basic review of cardiac physiology through an advanced level of ECG interpretation.The text is written in an easy-to-read, conversational style and the graphics and ECG tracings are some of the best I've ever seen in this kind of book. On top of this, Garcia and Holtz have included plenty of useful diagnostic pearls throughout each chapter, making this a highly readable and educational book.I use levels one and two to teach my paramedic students the fundamentals of 12-lead ECG interpretation.I also recommend Garcia and Miller's "Arrhythmia Recognition: The Art of Interpretation" (ISBN 0763722464) as a rhythm interpretation reference.

Excellent study guide

A Great Book for many reasons
I am in medical school and although the Martini text does not substitute as a medical textbook, it does have great "cartoon" pictures that help me to visualize difficult biochemical concepts.For those who learn by visualizing what is happening, I would highly recommend this book.Once again, I do not use this as a primary book now, but when I took Anatomy and Physiology at college, I read this book cover to cover.It is much easier to read than other textbooks, and Martini does a very good job of combining medical illnesses/problems with the textbook material.

Better than 6th Edition
I found that I referred to this edition moreso that the current one that Martini revised (edition 6).He should go back to this format.

Good Textbook for Anatomy and Physiology Students

Excellent resource for care givers!
In reviewing this book, I discovered it is an excellent resource not only for professional care providers, but for family members as well. There are very detailed examples of specific activities to do on a daily basis, and could be easily adapted for varying levels of dementia.

I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT THIS BOOK.
This book is brilliant......I am a RAO, and I use this book daily when I am doing documentation.....The appropiate words are jumping out for you to use and why you are doing the various activities to stimulate the elderly....as I have said it is just brilliant and a must to have....

A tremendous help!
This book has been an absolute necessity for me as a massage therapy student!It has been much better than our required anatomy textbook for getting a good look at and understanding of the musculoskeletal system.I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to learn these areas of anatomy and especially for those working with massage/bodywork.A tremendously helpful book!

Basic Clinical Massage

Respiratory Phys Provides The Basics
Respiratory Physiology provides the basics needed for a medical school respiratory physiology unit. By purchasing this book, a medical student is able to focus on the respiratory system in more detail than in some basic physiology texts.

Not useful for medical school.
This book might be a good review text for people who are already familiar with the material, but it can't be used as a stand-alone text. It just doesn't have the necessary explanations. I'd recommend sticking with the respiratory chapters in your favorite comprehensive medical physiology textbook.

THE Textbook for Hospitalists
This is a great overview of the vast subject that is inpatient internal medicine.The young specialty of hospitalist is one that has needed its own dedicated text for some time.This second edition is definately it.While there is still some slight fine tuning to be done, Dr. Wachter continues to do great work for us as the Father of the Hospitalist Revolution that is occuring.
Outstanding Book
An excellent reference for the physician who cares for hospitalized patients. Just enough detail to care for patients of every severity and type of illness, yet not so much that you are bogged down in unimportant trivia and esoteric controversies. The book is up to date, and the authors obviously know their stuff. Things like indications for ICU admission and indications for discharge make this book invaluable for physicians who care for hospitalized patients. Now if only someone will write a similar one for pediatrics....

Worth reading
An excellent book on the basics of quantum healing.It was written simply enought that I bought another copy and sent it to my 13-year-old grandson; I wish I had started to teach myself how to help others with their pain when I was younger.It's a very practical book, easy to read, easy to follow and easy to put the methods into practice.Thank you, Mr. Gordon, for writing it.

A Must Have
A must have for beginers, even for therapists that have been in business for a while. Great marketing ideas and tips.This book has changed my practice, by not only giving me the confidence I needed but also to be able to follow through with ideas and the know how on how to do it in a more professional manner. Loved it and couldn't put it down
It's been the best book on massage marketing that I have read and better than any massage marketing class that I have attended. I really couldn't put it down and spent all my down time reading.Most of the suggestions are in practice by many, I'm sure, but it's just some common sense advice that she gives or maybe just a positive attitude towards our service oriented careers that has made a big difference for me.I can't say that since I've read the book (one month ago) that I've had a surge in clients, but it's made the clients I have more satisfied. And my head is definitely filled with new ideas.

Not just for Cellists
This book is an excellent and precise treatment of the Alexander Technique.Although his examples are primarily for Cellists, Pianists, and singers, there's much that would apply to any musician.Occasionally academic, this book is well worth the patience.A moderate number of pictures are present.

Stiff-necked
My teacher recommended this book as The Book To Read if I wanted to read a book about Alexander Technique as I was taking lessons. Obviously it's a book that works wonderfully for many people. I wasdisappointed, though. I found the book rigid and very dismissive of approaches the author didn't absolutely agree with, and obsessed with bolstering itself with citations and quotes. It almost deifies Alexander, and talks very specifically of positions etc. The impression I have of Alexander Technique from my lessons is completely different: it's about being open rather than closed to alternatives. Indirect Procedures stands by itself in the world of Alexander Technique books.Written by a cellist and Alexander teacher, it is the only book I know of exclusively devoted to musicians' issues.At the same time, it is a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practice of Alexander Technique with some photo illustrations.One caveat -Indirect Procedures is not light reading and this certainly sets it apart from most self-improvement books.It is thorough and detailed and very serious.Read more

Great Refresher
I used this book to prepare for the State Optician Boards.It was great, In have now lent out my copy several times.Well worth the money.

If you are planning on entering the optical field, or are a seasoned Optician, this book is a must have.Amazingly comprehensive, covers everything from the very simple to complex in a very easy to follow format.
