This one is DOA
If you are looking for a good EMT book, I would take my business over to the Brady series.Did the editor actually look at this thing?I would have to say no!Forget about it, move on.

For the most part the book is very educational & easy to follow. Although there are many misspelled words, wrong or conflicting answers. Also, many topic areas taught aren't the way it is in the "real" world.To me it didn't look like the auther did much proof reading priorto it being published. Hopefully, there'll be a better book on the marketsoon. ... Read more

Well worth the $
In contrast to "Master Techniques in Orthopaedic Surgery: The Foot and Ankle" this volume actually does contain some master techniques.Buy This one and not "that" one.

Really glad I bought it!
I bought my copy from Amazon...It reached in mint condition :-). I have read only a few pages so far, but it seems to be a great book on thoracic imaging. I also talked to some of the attendings about the book and they all said that McLoud is a great author and a great radiology teacher. I am really glad I bought this book early enough to be able to make good use of it for my chest rotation.

Great
Practial guide to reading CT images. Great for both Physician and Technologist. Tastes great too!

The best anatomy and pathology book for CTI'veever seen.
There is no better book on the market for cross sectional anatomy.The book uses normal anatomy vs. pathology examples for every body part and major condition that would be visualized with CT imaging.Easy to read, high quality pictures are taken from real Siemens images and put alongside illustrations that label the anatomy. Very good!
I have read Hofer's Ultrasound Teaching Manual, and the CT Teaching Manual is just as good.Easy to read, many nice pictures, helpful facts and not too expensive.Helpful if you read this with the Webb/Brant/Helms CT book. ... Read more

Good Reference
I'm a 4th year medical student, and found this book extremely helpful during my Blood Bank rotation. It is really good at explaining the concepts behind the technical procedures.

Use this book as a doorstop
This book is not for the beginer in blood banking.It is disjointed, confusing, difficult to comprehend, and does not flow in a logical manner.It was written by several authors, including Harmening.This probably accounts for the confusing flow.May be helpful to experienced blood bankers, but if you are a begining student trying to fathom the many intricacies of blood banking, this book will make you want to tear your hair out.Without a doubt, the worst text book I have ever read and I have a master's degreee and 1.5 years toward my PhD.Avoid this book like the plague unless you have prior knowledge or experience.It will turn you off blood banking forever.I give it a D for effort (a poor and poorly edited effort). ... Helpful resource
This resource has a variety of valuable information for working with children with VPI or a cleft palate.It covers from birth through childhood.A must for clinicians who work with this type of population.

Phenomenally helpful for treatment
This book is a great resource for therapist's working with cleft palate, and VPI. It is not designed to be a resource for parents, but a functional guide to provide therapy that works. What therapist isn't looking to make progress? This book makes even the most difficult clients make progress. It is a wonderful book.

MOM of a 4-month old baby with cleft of the soft palate
I'm a Mom of a 4-month old baby with a cleft.I also have a M.S. in speech-pathology.(What are the odds?) :)I found this book to be really helpful, because while I attended one of the leading institutions for graduate school, we only had 1 class on Craniofacial Disorders, most of which focused on diagnosis and not on how to do therapy with people with cleft. If you're a therapist reading this review, then you'll appreciate this book for the easy-to-recognize discussion of all aspects of speech, how articulation and VPI both may be affected with the presence of cleft (many folks think it's just hypernasality and nasal emission, when actually artic can become a big factor).This is just one example.The book highlights the importance of early intervention, even when surgery to correct the cleft hasn't been done, citing the importance of learning appropriate behaviors for speech, even in the absence of "normal" anatomy. (Therapy after surgery, then, can be much more successful, and kiddos aren't learning inappropriate compensatory strategies in the meantime.)There are chapters for doing therapy with all ages, including what kinds of things you can do with an infant who is not yet speaking.That was great for my family.If you're a PARENT of a child with cleft, there may be some things that don't readily make sense (sideview diagrams of the oral cavity during production of different speech targets), but most of the book is still going to be an excellent resource.It will teach you the logic of the TYPES of speech issues that can accompany speech with cleft, how these can develop and why they might develop, what you can expect, and what you can help do about it.I am a big believer in the more you learn, the more an advocate you become for your own child.And the more a part of the therapy "team" you become.Instead of just "taking your child to see the therapist", you become the "at home therapist" who can read, understand, ask questions, and implement good at-home behaviors that can help make a few weekly hours of professional therapy stretch beyond the walls of the "office", and into the child's everyday environment.Finally, if you're a new parent of a child with a cleft, please feel free to write me.There are few parents that were easy for me to talk to when my baby was born with this issue. Invaluable tool for becoming productive and efficient in your research lab
This is the book all grad students should read because this book discusses the things that you typically don't learn in grad school.The book is meant for new faculty, but anyone interested in learning practical lab management issues is encouraged to read this book.There is something useful in this book for both green rookies and experienced veterans.
Fantastic for the new professor
I love this book and only wish it was published when I was first starting a faculty position.Definitely a biologist's perspective (and a lab-oriented one at that), but it covers many of the trials and tribulations of starting a new faculty position: setting up a lab, assessing priorities, making hires, managing committees, managing colleagues, etc. Don't be caught without it!

Clear illustrations, helpful grammar notes - Great all-round intro!
"Signing: How to Speak with your Hands" will serve many purposes on your signing bookshelf:it's a jam-packed dictionary, introductory grammar text, thorough guide to the non-manual aspects of signs, plus a little historical background thrown in for good measure.
Great basic ASL dictionary
Elaine Costello got it right when she made this dictionary and had it sectioned by topic instead of purely alphabetical.This book is a required text for my college level intro to ASL classes that I teach.

Perfect sight---your birthright!
'Relearning to See' is the largest and most comprehensive book ever written on the Bates Method of Natural Eyesight Improvement Re-Education. The author has taught Natural Eyesight Improvement and Teacher Training classes since 1983. He has recently relocated from San Francisco to the Natural Vision Center in Ashland, Oregon. RTS contains the pioneering work of ophthalmologist William H. Bates, MD. This educational program is *not* about eye exercises---a common misconception of the Bates Method. The most important contribution of RTS is that it concisely describes the 3 principles and 3 habits of natural vision. Yet each principle and habit is thoroughly explained, since all of them are necessary for normal, clear sight. RTS is a 521-page tome containing 60 color plates, over 150 illustrations and eye charts, (not a small booklet like most other books written on this topic), and contains information on how to improve nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, presbyopia, strabismus (e.g. crossed-eye), amblyopia (lazy-eye), and many other vision problems. Even many serious eye problems have improved with this educational program. RTS covers reading, driving, using a computer, in nighttime vision, flying, light tolerance, artificial lighting and many other topics. Glasses are an artificial crutch, and contact lenses are foreign objects. Both tend to reinforce strained vision habits and make your eyesight worse. RTS educates you about lenses and prescriptions so you can go to your eye doctor and get legal, safe, reduced-power glasses while you are improving your eyesight. One of the most interesting and valuable chapters is called 'Brains and Vision,' where the author presents a larger perspective on the Bates Method using the modern right brain/left brain model. Bates stated that vision is primarily mental. The sections on left-brain myopes versus right-brain farsights are quite revealing. There are many mental and vision quality benefits to improving eyesight naturally, including memory, concentration, imagination, creativity, color perception, depth perception, contrast and texture awareness. While Dr. Bates did make some errors, his *solutions* of re-establishing correct vision habits are flawless---because they are created by nature. Read Chapter 1, Chapters 2-4 if you have been wearing glasses or contacts; then jump to Chapters 9+ and get started with natural vision principles and habits.

Fantastic book! I have been wearing glasses since 1970, but since reading this book and practicing the principles explained within it, I doubt I will have to continue wearing glasses much longer.After only one month, I have noticed a definite improvement in my eyesight -- glasses which were once too weak for me are now almost too strong!

Amazing non-allopathic approach to healing vision
I tried this for 9 days while on vacation and I was amazed by the results. All of the bad vision habits that Dr. William H. Bates discovered I had. After a few days practice, I was having "flashes" of perfect vision discussed in the book. I was seeing details like leaves on trees rather than a big amorphous blob of green.

Great - Better than Mini-Merrils
My school used Merrils for positioning, but Bontrager gives me more.It shoes blocker and marker placement. It gives an outline of the anatomy and centering points in the beginning of each section.It outlines centering points on the model (iliac crest) that you can't see.
The best "little" book ever...
I just graduated from xray school and this book was a lifesaver.If at any time when I was in clinicals and couldn't remember how to do something, I would just pull out this nifty little book and refresh my memory.The best part about the book to me was the area at the bottom of every positioning page to put your own techniques.Being in 6 different clinical facilities, this book helped out a lot. ...
