Nice and Well Organized Book.
I had this book for about two semesters, in college by the way. The first semester I dropped it and finally the second semester I got a B. Interesting hm? Anyhow, the book contains a large amount of information including very nice diagrams and photographs and has vastly improved in my opinion from the early first few editions. What makes this book extremely informative is the fact that it is pretty well organized and set up including indexing and clear contents listing. 16 chapters starting slowly from the basics of the human body, its relations to chemistry, cells and tissues, and finally going more in depth by digging deep into the organ systems and the human anatomy.
Tolerable
This book has some useful diagrams and illustrations.It's easy to read, but seems a bit too simplified at times.Also, I think the editors were a bit lax on the writing, personally.The CD quizes are helpful for review.

Informative and highly understandable textbook

Hole's Anatomy & Physiology
I ordered this text book through Amazon because the school book store was out.In my past experiences with Amazon, I have been able to receive the same product, faster and sometimes cheaper.In this case, all was true except the book store book came with a very necessary CD, the book with Amazon did not.

An excellent overview
There is a very good reason this series is endorsed by the NPTA.Of the six or so books that I used to study for the exam, this was the most helpful by far.It reviews every topic on the exam, and is a great starting place to see what you need more work on.This is the book that got me a passing score on the exam, and I don't really think I can give it higher praise than that.

Great workbook
This book is a great study guide to prepare for the certification exam. The book is easy to read and it leaves out all the fluff that is in the other study books. After reading and doing the practice exams I found what my weaknesses were and was able to go back to my schoolbooks to strengthen those areas. I took the certification exam this month (March) and think I did fine; there are a lot of math questions in the exam and wish I spent more time in that area.

Fantastic!
I'm a high school student, and I had the privilege of taking medical terminology during my sophomore year.This book was fantastic is teaching complicated topics.The flash cards are great and the outline of it is great as well.

Excellent Medical Terminology Resource
This book was an excellent resource for someone who has little medical background. Difficult concepts were made easy thanks to the included study aids. I especially liked the various memory tips that were given throughout the book. I would highly recommend this book for novices as well as experts.

Excellent Review Book!
I used this book for the first semester of medical school. It gives a quick overview of each system of the human body as well as abbreviations commonly used. It's an easy read. A perfect complement for anyone needing a quick, but thorough, medical terminology overview.

Guidlines Not a Formula
This book shed a lot of light on why I was not succeding in my weight loss goals.I had already given up almost all sugar and all artifical sweetners, eating mostly whole grains, and had been doing a 45-60 min cardio workout 3 times a week and getting no where in the 50 lbs I need to lose.In the past I had a lot of success following Atkins, but felt that it was unhealthy and it left me feeling sluggish and miserable.I stopped Atkins and started the daily losing battle with my weight. Is This a Book?
Is this a book to help out women who suffer from being misinformed about menopause or an advertisement for progesterone cream?Didn't help me at all, if anyone wants to buy it, it's yours but I don't recommend it.

An Eye-Opener Sans The Wool
Back-to-back, I've read this book and the other one by Dr. John Lee, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Pre Menopause: Balance Your Hormones And Your Life From Thirty To Fifty."Although the one just mentioned is more pertinent to my age group, and both books cover much of the same ground, I chose to review this book because it seems to be more in-depth.Both books, however, are laden with valuable information for women of any age.

Simple to understand, not a boring textbook.
I was assigned this book for my A and P classes at my university.I found it to be quite complete as the previous reviewer said.I also liked the writing style since it was not in hard language.Although some anatomy words are hard at first to learn like styloid and mastoid, I found the text to be easy to learn the information from.I also found two great study guides which really helped me get the grades I wanted.I discovered them from a classmate of mine.They are:

What a gem!
This book not only got me throught my ECG test, it made me feel comfortable with interpretations after several years outside the critical care scene!

not as boring as it looks
After The Third Policeman and The Turn of the Screw, I thought this would be a snoozefest, but it was actually very interesting.I'm not sure who left it or why (do I sound paranoid? I don't mean to sound paranoid), but I think the information may prove useful down the road....

In each case chapter starts with short theory and than examples of charts for the particular arrhythmias and than you get a chance to practice yourself with number of charts, answers in the back with explanations. Appetite control book
This book is all about controlling your appetite. Stop eating when you are full. This book is written from a Christian perspective with also recommends prayer and diet as part of your spriritual life. The author recommends eating only the best part of your meal and leave what you do not want on your plate. The most important principle of all this book teaches is STOP EATING WHEN YOU ARE FULL. This one principle alone boils down what has caused our obesity epedemic in this country, not knowing what it feels like to be full. The author teaches you what hunger feels like and how to use it to guide you eating. This is a huge part of the weight loss puzzle, I would also recommend the following that taught me how to lose 60 pounds and keep it off:

That's all she does is boast how sinless or tries to be sinless she is and her perfect Remnant.I have been talking to several people that she has judge and judged hard and it makes me sick! another diet book
Normally, I am not one to read "diet" books.Recently I have found interest in books about nutrition, but not "diets".I consider the difference to be that nutrition is an overall perspective of how different types of foods either help or hinder our overall health and a "diet" is more of a "do this, and don't do that".Based on some of my recent nutrition reading, I am paying closer attention to the processed foods that I consume. As a result, I came to believe that sugar is probably the one processed food that I consume the most of, either from drinking a cup of coffee or eating a piece of bread that has "honey" listed as an ingredient.Based on this, I decided to read up more on the subject of sugar in general.

I, without realizing it, went on a VERY modified version of this book. I am not so much reviewing the book per se, but the concept of eliminating or reducing sugar and starch to lose weight.To boil it down, I had been working out and following a "low fat" diet, only to realize that I still wasn't at my targe weight, and it seemed like I was continually reducing down my calorie intake to even maintain where I was at.In fact, I think I was even gaining weight.Well, on the advice of a bodybuilder I knew, I looked at my diet to identify what the problem might be.It wasn't fat, because I was eating less than 10 grams a day!I was, however, starting each day with a 32 ounce soda, having a sandwhich without mayo and some fat free chips or pretzels for lunch and a frozen "low fat" dinner (usually a piece of chicken, some potatoes and a veggie and a dessert).I was of course, hungry most of the time and killing those cravings with things like cans of soda, fat-free hostess cupcakes, pretzels, popcorn, etc.

Good book, BUT all that glitters....
I first read this book 7 years ago and still refer to it from time to time.It has brilliant no-nonsense and practical advice for anybody who wants to transform their body the only way possible (that is, diet, weights and cardio).However, I have taken away one star for two reasons: Firstly, there is this constant advice for you to take the authors EAS supplements as part of the successful 12 week program which is annoying if you are an international reader who does not have access to the stuff.Perhaps if he had suggested generic equivalents to his products for those who can't access or afford his expensive stuff then it wouldnt be an issue.Secondly, as the wife of a bodybuilder and as a person who has been weight-training for seven years, I know for SURE that some (not all) of those bodies used in the success stories were transformed partly through the use of steroids.Sure they trained and dieted to get to such low body fat and muscle-gain, but those of us who live in the gym and are experienced past the beginner stage, know what it takes for someone to change from "fat beer gullet" to "six-pack hunk" in twelve weeks.I still recommend the book though, I just didnt want someone struggling with their weight (as I once did) to think it is completely possible to get so much muscle in such a short space of time without drugs.But having said that, I have watched many people in the gym follow this program and lose a lot of fat in twelve weeks.

visual learners best friend
As a visual learner studying in the science/maths field, and being an English/Arts major, I found this book incredible helpful in making the basic and more complex areas of physiology concrete in my mind. This in turn has helped me do well in my exams. Worth a read if you're interested in physiology.

Just took the PANRE yesterday.This study guide is helpful in broad strokes.Much better than the Appleton & Lange books. A New Approach, A New Attitude
I found this book inspirationally.Not because the author beat the odds in surviving a cancer considered "terminal" by all of his physicians, but because he did it by rationally setting out to explore all of his options and did not just let the "experts" tell him what to do.
A must-read for brain tumor sufferers
Dr. Williams' book is a blow by blow record of how he guided his own survival in spite of his doctors and the constraints of the FDA in overcoming a glioblastoma.His program was well-researched and gives excellent suggestions for options in taking an active part in one's own survival.Should be read by all cancer patients, particularly those suffering with brain tumors.He also published an annual online update of the information contained in the book.

The Bible of GBM
