complete with pictures
Mosby's dictionary far exceeded my expectations for medical knowledge. Its pictures, charts, tables, and lab data are incredibly useful in getting better understanding of the diseases, conditions, procedures, and body structures that you are researching. Mosby's is not for the faint of heart, the numerous photographs, diagrams, and pictures are very graphic especially with some of the congenital anomalies and skin disorders. A lot of nurses that I went to school with (and I agree) feel that this was the better choice of reference because it prepares you for what you may encounter and many of us are visual learners (we have to see to understand). I really like how informative the definitions are and have found there are more listings here then in other dictionaries such as Tabors. We keep a reference Mosby on my floor and I also have one saved in my personal office. Its a valuable tool for anyone entering the medical profession or interested in anatomy or health.

Reader Friendly!
Before I went and bought a medical dictionary, I actually sat and looked through a bunch of them to see which I liked best.It seems Taber's is the national favorite for medical dictionaries, but I found Mosby's to be much more reader friendly.It is thorough and gives good help with pronunciation.I've found the layout to be good for finding QUICK information. (You don't want to look for a long time to find an entry!) I was also impressed with the sheer number of full-color graphics on almost every page.(Be forewarned, some graphics are not for the feint of heart!)

JNC VII
Whether a clinician or just someone who wants to learn more about the latest treatments for high blood pressure, if you buy a book about hypertension, make sure it incorporates that latest guidelines -- JNC VII (2003). Diagnosis and treatment guidelines changed substantially. I have a copy of this book and like it quite a bit but as far as I know, it has not been updated to include JNC VII recommendations.
BP for Dummies

I was recently diagnosed with extremely high blood pressure and I knew absolutely nothing about it. This book really helped me understand what was going on! Haved looked or cared for it yet
I got this book and honestly found it a big disappointment.Most of the info in it is in other books and the recipes really arent any big deal.I knew most of the nutrition info already.If you already have a library of FM or nutrition info, this book is pointless.

One of my favorite books!!
Of all the books i have purchased on fibromyalgia- this is the best. This has become my 'bible' on nutrition for treatment of fibromyalgia. I highly recommend this book!!!It has great information on grains, problems with additives, metals and other toxins, essential vitamins and minerals to take and which ones to avoid and also contains some great recipes!!!With the guiding help of this book, i have been able to do well managing my fibromyalgia and it has helped me feel good enough to start an exercise program.

Loaded with nutritional facts - Lacking application
The book has lots to offer if you want a quick reference as to what role vitamins and minerals play in the human body. It also discusses different herbs, flours and sweeteners.

Credible, clinical but enjoyable-A Keeper
This tome features a number of various case study articles on different subjects pertaing to not only animal-assisted therapy, but also to service animals (there is a significant difference). One area (service animals)is for disabled individuals who have an animal-usually a dog-to assist them. The other area is for those interested in Biophilia, how clients benefit from exposure to animals from a therapeutic stance, where handlers bring their animals into long-term facilities, and the like. Worth the Money
This book contains bonafide information to help AAT professionalsin everything from forming a practice, zoonotic disease charts, guidelines for AAT in a variety of settings (hospitals, schools etc.), and with a variety of clients to Nature therapy and animal abuse issues. Extremely informative

First modern educational tool in dental health for children.
This is the first book of its kind.It focuses on the dental education of children.It is a complete lesson planner that can be fully integrated in the classroom along with school's other subjects.If children can learn totake care of their teeth the proper way, they can save themselves and theirparents a lot of trouble down the line. All inclusive, best overall review book
I am the Program Director for a Medical Assisting Program and highly recommend this book to all of my students. It has more questions than any other books I've used but the best part is that every question has a rationale/explanation. Not errors noted. I got a 729 (98%) on the CMA and I had a student that studied only from this book and got a 711 (97%.

Great Anatamy & Physio Book
I was required to get this textbook for the anatomy and physiology class that I am taking.It is a GREAT book.It is easy enough to understand which will allow me to use it when I beging to teach HS Bio.It also comes with a CD-rom which allows you to color and name the different parts of different systems.I highly recommend this book!

The Human Body in Health and Illness, Second Edition
This book is really easy to reed and to follow. It goes in depth but the pictures and the way that the vocabulary is explained makes it fun, interesting and easy to comprehend. It is the best Anatomy and Physiology book that I have read so far.

Good Book but Lacks Details
It's a good book, it's just a tad basic.Meaning it was written in mind for students just out of high school, adult learning and where English is a second language.The main topics are covered for A&P, but it distinctly lacks detail.What I mean by that is, it does a good job covering anatomy (the pictures are really nice), but the physiology aspects of the human body is not covered very well.For example, Kreb's cycle in Herlihy's book is a one sentence mention.It's not even discussed.The book just doesn't compare to Elaine Marieb's Human Anatomy & Physiology edition.I own both textbooks and found myself going back to Marieb's.Marieb's text is over 1000 pages where Herlihy's is less than 500 pages.Our instructor (a Dr.), didn't once pull out this book, but he did use Marieb's as a reference.If you plan on just passing A&P use this book, but if you plan to understand the human body and ace your A&P use Marieb's. ... Excellent,Integrative, Comprehensive & Current
I am a second year dental student and find this book to be comprehensive in its theoretical approach and practice of preventive dentistry in private and public health sectors. A university level background in chemistry, microbiology,biochemistry and dental materials are necessary to understand some of the more advanced concepts.

Essential and Useful Reference
I have had this book for the past few years.This is an essential and highly convenient medical dictionary.As a compact reference, I have been able to find the definitions to at least 90% of the words I have been looking for.The accompanying dictionary is an amazing and useful program to have installed on the computer.
Superb work of reference
This concise medical dictionary is not concise at all: it gives all the information one needs, accompanied by very clear and informative drawings and pictures and it even gives the reader the correct pronunciation of the word. The alphabet tags on the side of the book (they give the first two letters of the words on that page rather than only the first letter) are a major help for a quick reference. Great book.

Profound reading!A 'must-read' for doctors and everyone!
This is a phenomenal and shocking book which everyone should read, especially and including doctors.Parasite related disorders (and there are many) in North America are skyrocketing, contends the author Ann Louise Gittleman, and has become a hidden epidemic and cause for much mis-diagnosis.Since 60% of U.S. households alone have either a dog or a cat, the chapter on pets titled 'Mans Best Friend' is worth your attention alone.You will never let your dog kiss you (lick your face) again!Of course, parasites can invade your body in a myriad of ways ignored by most people, whether you have a pet or not, and can live inside you for up to 30 years and cause many symptoms and discomfort, or worse.Ignore this book at your peril.

What you don't know could make you sick - or worse

Essential for all educators of children with PDD
This book provides clear, easy to use strategies for teaching and communicating with children on the autism spectrum. The author's contend that behavioral problems exhibited by children with autism are most often the result of frustration that comes from their inability to communicate effectively. Behavioral problems can be successfuly addressed by focusing on what the child is trying to communicate.Rationale for the strategies suggested is provided.I recommend this book for educators and parents.

Easy to implement methods for enhancing play skills
There are so many books on autism and not all are applicable to our family's situation.I tend to read a library copy before purchasing.When it came time to return this book, I decided that this was one for ourpersonal library.It's easy to read and I will refer to it over and over. Methods are easy to understand and implement.As a parent of an autisticchild, it's one of the few books I've felt that will be invaluable.

Anatomy book that helped me in my anatomy class
