You NEED this Book
Absolutely essential. Excellent coverage of topics. Easy to use format. A can't live without it book. I use it daily.

Great!
I am currently a second year PA student.This has been an amazing help on my rotations, all of them.I recommended it several of my classmates; they also love it.We have a test at the end of each rotation, and this is a perfect way to review. Just the facts without much fluff.It is also a handy reference in the clinic.

2006 Current to be updated for 2002. Go on to buy it. Editors need you.
It became boring. Look at the endocrinology section. It claims if there is only one study related to selenium theraphy in autoimmune thyroiditis in the editions of 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006... Excellent Review
Ganong writes an excellent and complete review of physiology.This is a great text if you are already familiar with phys and if you want to refresh or want a reference.This is a tough text for studying physiology for the first time.Very indepth in most areas of physiology.The chapters on repro phys aren't stellar, but most other areas are great.Very logical procession.This is a must have for all those studying/researching (grad students and onwards) areas that involve physiology. ... Non-Working Disk
The disk that came with the book is a data disk only, and does not contain the program that created the data.That is why the data disk is not a workable disk, unless you have The Medical Manager installed on your computer!The book is too geared to be used with the Medical Manager Software Program, and is difficult to read it as a stand alone book.
Medical Manager review
I am an instructor for the Medical Manager class and have been for over 5 years.I have used almost every version possible with the Medical Manager.This is a fairly good book for students to learn from.As long as the person reads the instructions and then looks at the exercises, they should have NO problems.However, if the person just looks at the exercise and does not read the material, they may have difficulty.Some of the exercise/pictures are different then the actual reading part but not too many.Overall this book makes it fairly simple to learn this program.

There are a few mistakes in the pre-test which were annoying.The outline review is very good.The post-test on CD could be more comprehensive.

This review book is pretty concise. It really helped me get the facts that I needed for the boards. Its defeinitely a book that should be invested in.

Preparing for the PANRE
Just took the PANRE yesterday.This study guide is helpful in broad strokes.Much better than the Appleton & Lange books. A great start for the AST.
As a student myself, I found that this book is highly readable, but oftentimes, the text and layout feels cramped as though the editors were attempting to place every single chart, picture, graph, and piece of text on as much square area for each page.
Great educational book
I actually work in Central Sterile Processing. I found this book very useful with the information of surgical procedures, anotomy charts , surgical instruments. Plus it is very clear on its format, easy to understand and follow. This book will answer many questionsthat students going for surgical technology need or simple just like me, a person who works with surgical instruments on the daily basis.

A must have for reviewers
I bought this book when i was reviewing for my Medical Technology certification exam. The book is more difficult than the certification exam. But the beauty of this book is that it will make you understand the rationale and principlesbehind all the laboratory tests and procedures. If you can pass at least 60% of the questions in this book. You have a good chance of passing the certification exam.

Current OB and GYN Dx and Tmt
As a busy 4th yr resident, there is hardly any time to read the major OB/GYN textbooks. This text is a good review of major concepts in OB/GYN. It's a very easy read.

Great book for 3rd year med school
I used this book as a supplement to my 3rd year clerkship in med school.It is not a huge text, so it was great for looking up the details that were not found in Blueprints, especially if you are interested in OB for a career.The book is well organized and is easy to read.Too much to read for board review or shelf exams, but an excellent reference book for OB/GYN.

If your a Third year Medical student this book is a must.
I just finished my third year of medical school, and I found this book to be a must own. the topics quite interesting and comprehensible, and will help with most areas you need to reference.

the best there is
I can scarcely believe that people dare to criticize this tome. I don't actually have Harrison--I have Tinsley & Harrison, as it was called in decades past. (People do grow old and die.) The notion that a layperson "can understand Hippocrates' Aphorisms in the original Greek" better is nonsense: frankly, it depends upon the lay reader's familiarity with terminology, yea, his or her command of Greek and Latin roots. That's what dictionaries are for, and that's also presumably what your English classes (remember them?) instilled in you--at least partially--at least hopefully. By way of superfluous comparisons to other opera campi, Merck just doesn't provide the depth of coverage: I regard it as a glorified Taber's.
For the lay person---NOT!!!
There is a reason why med students learn anatomy, histology,embryology, physiology,and biochemistry before picking up Harrison's, so I snicker when non-MD's think they can read and understand ( with the help of Taber's medical dictionary, which by the way is used by nurses, physicians in training use Dorland's) a medical textbook, especially one like Harrison's.( What is especially humorous is that one reviewer recalled that the textbook was titled "Tinsley & Harrison "(sic).... funny because Harrison's first name was Tinsley, as in Tinsley Harrison, MD).This is like a layperson reading a computer manual then taking apart his PC and trying to put it back together. To reiterate a layperson has a better chance of understanding Hippocrates' aphorisms in the original Greek than Harrison's. Remember a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. To the reviewer that has Tinsley Harrison's earlier edition textbook, the medical information there is as useful as a screen door in a submarine. If it's writing style, literature and actual history of medicine that you are after, may I suggest "The Practice and Principles of Medicine" bySir William Osler. ... Read more

Good Reference
I'm a 4th year medical student, and found this book extremely helpful during my Blood Bank rotation. It is really good at explaining the concepts behind the technical procedures.

Use this book as a doorstop
This book is not for the beginer in blood banking.It is disjointed, confusing, difficult to comprehend, and does not flow in a logical manner.It was written by several authors, including Harmening.This probably accounts for the confusing flow.May be helpful to experienced blood bankers, but if you are a begining student trying to fathom the many intricacies of blood banking, this book will make you want to tear your hair out.Without a doubt, the worst text book I have ever read and I have a master's degreee and 1.5 years toward my PhD.Avoid this book like the plague unless you have prior knowledge or experience.It will turn you off blood banking forever.I give it a D for effort (a poor and poorly edited effort). ... Errors Galore
After purchasing the instructor's manual to check my answers, I found errors in every chapter!!From spelling to incorrect percentage amounts.I found myself editing the entire time to find their errors which contradict their text.When I got answers that were not an option in the multiple choice exercises, I would reference the book and the textbook would say I was correct, and the workbook did not.Not worth the money or the time.Extremely exhausting.

find something better to learn from
I took a night course which used this textbook. The instructor who is a certified coder and is an instructor at other institutions found MANY misleading instructions. You can be told to do something one way in the book but in real life at a billing job, you would have to do it another way. Also, we found many contradicting statements. They say one thing but do something totally different in their examples. It's really not worth the money.

Great study guide!
I just passed my recert boards again and thanks to this study guide didn't need to take an expensive and time consuming review course.Well worth it!!

PANCE Prep
Great study guide.Accompanying CD very user friendly.Entire book with questions and explanations are on the CD.Easy way to go through and review each specialty area and read the explanations for the answers.Few typos though.Best to go through the references to double check on a few answers.Overall very good study guide.

Worth the purchase
I found this book to be very helpful.Yes there is some incorrect info as stated by other reviewers but overall it serves as a good guide.I found the best way to study for the test is to do practice, practice, and more practice questions.Reviewing the AAPA review book was somewhat helpful but applying what I reviewed was what made the info stick.
