A concise history of the rise of statistics in medicine
As a biomedical researcher and clinician, I rely on published literature to guide my practice and thought. Current medical literature is very statistically based. Consequently, I found the author's history of the riseof satistics in medicine fascinating. I can't recall seeing this materialcovered elsewhere. Although I have done SPE for several years, I was surprised that this book can brought me so much more ideas and concepts. This readable book shows not only how but also why to choose an approach/adsorbent. Detailed but concise descriptions of SPE theories on reversed/normal phase and ion exchange are suitable for both novices and aces. Considerations on silica- and polymer-based adsorbent are crucial to real-world situations. Updated information and critical comparisons of existing products will save readers lots of time and cost to choose a right one. Extremely helpful
I am using this book for a graduate level class on GIS applications in public health and it has proven to be tremendously helpful. I didn't know a thing about GIS before but, this book helps to provide the basics and clearly explains the applications of GIS in today's health systems.

Technology is a mixed bag for people with all kinds of disabilities
This is a book about people with disabilities and access technology.It's the first book I've seen on the subject of how disabled people relate to access technology. This author has done most of her work with spinal cord injuries, so in that sense it isn't about people with vision problems; but I was absolutely struck by how many parallels there are between issues faced by the blind, and the issues faced by those with severe spinal cord injuries or cerebral palsy.I was very gratified to see that we aren't the only population for whom technology is really a mixed bag.As with us, the technology they use can in some way define the way they interact with the general public so it affects the way they feel about themselves. (For example, I will not use speech products unless I am with family or by myself.)Just as in the general public, they have their technophiles and their technophobes.

Very good 1st edition
This is a very good book for RT students. I like its organization and presentation. It is by far the best book available for basic pharmacology in terms of coverage and readability. I agree with another reviewer in that the students are actually reading the chapters on their own. The review questions in the book are nice but missing the answer key (at least for the instructors). The online review questions are mostly recall. I hope in the next edition, more application and clinical questions would be developed for the book and online review. Instead of references within the text, it uses a bibliography format at the end of the book. However, this is more than adequate for an introductory course. Finally, I know it can be "painful" to switch textbooks but this new book is definitely worthy of your time and effort. If you supplement the book with other resources available (printed or web-based), it can be as complete as any other pharmacology books currently available.

Great resource!
This text book has a little of everything. A great book to keep on your desk when you need a brief overview of something in the lab. It's sort of like all of your college sophmore math/chem/biology texts condensed into one book.

A really great companion.
It would had been great to have this textbook with me while in my school years. It is always a delight to consult Kaplan's text, since it covers most of the lab issues with enough depth. The illustrations are not colored, but they are still pedagogic. Also, the text is enriched with lots of tables that I have found really useful. Besides this new edition is accompanied with a CD (which to be honest I haven't explore deeply). My opinion is that of a professional which has had to reference by work demands, I'm no student, but as I said before this would have made a great companion. ... Read more

This book is extremely basic.The text is double spaced and not very detailed.Sample FMEA forms are blank templates; no filled in examples are provided.In the process mapping chapter, symbols are missing from Table 9-1.A filled in example of a process map is presented with no descriptive text.A functional block diagram is explained in 21 words - absolutely inadequate though the example in Figure 9-2 helps.A reliability block diagram is shown and is described in 22 words - impossible to decipher!Definitely not worth the price, go elsewhere! ...
