Phenomenal Review of the Role of OT in Mental Health
Early provides an excellent, extensive review of all aspects of OT in the mental health setting.The book should be used by all OT practitioners, both OTRs and COTAs, in practice.The work defines most conditions encountered, the characteristics and behaviors of such conditions, and specific adaptations to therapeutic media, the environment, and one's attitude and conduct to best address such conditions.

Comforting & Practicle Info
After checking this book from the library, I purchsed a copy as a reference. The author gives practicle activities which enable the caregiver and the patient to survive dementia with dignity.
Not helpful if you're looking for practical activity ideas
I'm an occupational therapist looking for specific ideas for activities that will interest dementia patients who can't participate in bingo and the other activities offered by a poorly run activities program in a typical nursing home. The dementia unit described in this book sounds wonderful, but not easily found in a long term care setting. Once again, I've found a book with great ideas that are impossible to carry out in the real world of long term care.

Not a helpful book for family caregivers
It would have been useful to know, before purchasing this book, that most of the activities it describes are for use in group settings. As caregiver for a family member with dementia, I was hoping to find more material suited to one-on-one situations. While some of the activities can be adapted to the needs of individuals, the book as a whole doesn't provide much help for those living with a person who suffers from dementia.Read more

Great book. Information is clear and usefull
Great book. Very easy to use and the information is stated clearly and in an orderly fashion. A pocket book filled with eveything you need to know.

Too Much for a "Recall" Text
Although packed with good information, this text was just too big to fit in a ward coat, and held too much information to be utilized effectively, unlike other books in the series.There are better quick-review resources out there for use on the wards.

Compact and data packed
The book contains concise information for USMLE step 2 preparation. Even though it is priced on the higher side, it seems to be worth the money you put into it. For those who want to review their med school stuff quicklyand completely this is a good buy. Especially useful for FMGs. ... Read more

Not what its title says it is
I work in the school systems with children with learning disabilities.It was totally designed for an SI therapist in the clinic.As far as sensory integration is concerned, feel it fell short of assisting to advance my knowledge base.

From a Student Perspective
I am taking my Adult Physical Dysfunction class right now and almost every diagnosis in the book is one that we are studying.The case studies throughout the book are very helpful and BEST of all, the book gives an Occupational Performance Profile to let me (as a beginning OT) know which performance areas and components are being affected for each specific patient.It is a wonderful book.
