ExcellentFirst Read
This is an excellent introductory text book in radiology. It contains excellent images and covers the key fundamentals in radiology. It would be ideal for the PGY1 or PGY2 resident to read through to gain familarity in radiology before moving on to the major reference texts. Very readable book that does not overwhelm the junior resident with needless minutia.

Fundamental of Diagnostic Radiology
This is the single excellent book for Radiology Residents and General Radiologists. Seperate sections on US and NM are the best parts of this book. CT Scan and MRI are dispersed with the General Radiology. If the authors create seperate sections of CT and MRI like US and NM in the next edition, the book will become the only perfect book in General Radiology. This book contains treasure of knowledge for the Radiology residents and racticing General Radiologists.

Concise but not enough for residency.
Not a bad overview of most subjects, but some areas are lacking.The bone trauma subsection is particularly scant, excluding all of the fracture grading schemes.Additionally, while somewhat dedicated to differential generating, you don't really get a feel for what is actually common. ... Read more

The best of the basic
A textbook providing a simple and wide view of basic vascular ultrasonography

An Excellent Text and Reference
This new 5th edition is an improvement on an already excellent text on vascular sonography.Some tests are heavy on very detailed, hard-to-grasp, very long-winded theory that seem to be aimed at physicists. Good textbook, but double-check info
This is a good textbook if you have other resources available to double-check the information. The main problem I found with this book is that it tends to contradict itself, which can be quite frustrating for a student who is preparing for a test. For instance, the text will tell you that a certain condition usually presents as a single lesion, but the table right next to it says that same condition usually presents as a multiple lesion. This doesn't happen all the time, but it is more often than I would expect for a textbook.
Great Textbook for Diagnostic Ultrasonography
I have read the previous edition of this book. Compare the fourth edition, several improvements have been made in this edition: Each chapter begins with a list of key terms and definitions. Color illustrations and layout are used. A lot of new ultrasound images are added and the qualities of these images are much better. The text has been retrenched. Important points are put in tables for differentiation. Even there are still a few mistakes in this edition, I believe this is a great book.

Simply the Best
I regard this as the best single text in radiology, and it's one of two that I use on a daily basis. I only bought it because someone stole my last one.

Not the most in depth source for MSK radiology but a great overview of important topics and their MRI findings.

The Best Musculoskeletal MRI Book.
Why can't all radiology books be written like this.I just wish that authors in other fields of radiology can write books like this. This review book was assigned to my senior ultrasound program in our last quarter of classes.A colleague of mine who is a radiologic technologist had used the A&L RT review book and found it helpful, so my expectations when it was assigned were to be able to learn and to have a good array of review questions.

Great Book
I am a second year radiology resident.I just completed my first US rotation.I used this book and thought it was great.It has nice pictures and a well-put-together text.All in all, I highly recommend it.One of the best of the Requisites series!

Must have for US library
This is an excellent reference book with beautiful images of normal anatomy as well as pathology. It is very comprehensive with General as well as OB-Gyn coverage. My only disappointment was that it did not contain any pediatric ultrasound chapters.

MRI In Practice is by far the best physics book to study fromfor the registry exam. Very well written and easy to understand. I've been an MRI tech for 14 years and I use this book as a reference all the time in my current position of Chief Technologist. If you know this book cover to cover, you should have no trouble passing the physics on the test!

Pocket guide?
My main gripe with this book is that it's hardly portable. It's pocket sized- if you're a kangaroo...and kangaroos are NOT allowed in the radiology department!

Very GOOD pocket Guide
"Pocket Guide to Radiography" served as one of my references for the ARRT examination along with "The Ultimate Study Guide for the Registry Examination in Radiography: Key Review Questions and answers." "Pocket Guide to Radiography" had all the information for the positioning portion of the test.The central ray, part position, and patient position are always described in a very descriptive but easy to comprehend fashion.The pictures are great and easy to follow.For awesome practice questions for the ARRT Examination, I also found "The Ultimate Study Guide for the Registry Examination in Radiography: Key Review Questions and Answers" to be a wonderful reference.These books helped me to pass the ARRT the 1st time I took it.For quick look-up of medical terms, I also found "Dorland's Pocket Medical Dictionary Book" quite practical and also excellent. ... Best Review
I DO NOT test well at all...and After failing the registry with a 73, I purchased this book, worked with it for 3 months, re-took the registry and made an 86! The online testing makes it so easy to work on the areas where you are weak.It's proven, the Lange Q&A-Radiography review book made the difference between pass and fail for me!Thank you D.A. Saia

not the best introductory text
It's not a stellar member of the essentials series.
Competes with Mettler
This is a new edition. Compared to Mettler this probably has a greater range of coverage. Both books are very good. Supplement with PET books like PET/CT: A Case-based Approach by Conti (this may be too expensive for a resident) or PET and PET/CT: A Clinical Guide by Lin (less expensive).

Excellent text for nukes
This is a great textbook for resident level study in nuclear medicine, and the first book I'd use for an introduction.It's concise, with excellent diagrams and pictures of scintograms, and it presents the physics and chemistry behind nuclear med, as well as clinical correlations and the actual technology itself (gamma cameras, collimator's, etc.).Although there are definitely more detailed (and much, much, longer and more expensive) texts out there, this is where to begin a study of nukes, and it can easily be encompassed within the scope of a one month rotation. ... good book to study from
I used this book as well as a couple of other books to study for the ct registry.while this book was not the best study tool, I found the test format in the book to be quite helpful.The question and answer format in this book was just like taking the registry.Some of the questions in this book are a little too in depth, but it helped me study for the registry by covering areas that I wasn't solid in.I would use this book, a registry review book by romans, the pocket atlas of ct body and head anatomy by richard webb m.d., and the MIC registry review book.I used all of these books to study for the ct registry and passed with an 89.hope this review helps anyone that is considering taking the ct registry.

a good study tool
I found the question and answer format helpful.It helped me prepare for the registry by making me aware of the areas that I was rusty in. The explained answers as well as the cited text was helpful. By no means let this be the only book you use to study for the exam, it is outdated.

Practial guide to reading CT images. Great for both Physician and Technologist. Tastes great too!

The best anatomy and pathology book for CTI'veever seen.
There is no better book on the market for cross sectional anatomy.The book uses normal anatomy vs. pathology examples for every body part and major condition that would be visualized with CT imaging.Easy to read, high quality pictures are taken from real Siemens images and put alongside illustrations that label the anatomy. Very good!
I have read Hofer's Ultrasound Teaching Manual, and the CT Teaching Manual is just as good.Easy to read, many nice pictures, helpful facts and not too expensive.Helpful if you read this with the Webb/Brant/Helms CT book. ... Read more

Great - Better than Mini-Merrils
My school used Merrils for positioning, but Bontrager gives me more.It shoes blocker and marker placement. It gives an outline of the anatomy and centering points in the beginning of each section.It outlines centering points on the model (iliac crest) that you can't see.
The best "little" book ever...
I just graduated from xray school and this book was a lifesaver.If at any time when I was in clinicals and couldn't remember how to do something, I would just pull out this nifty little book and refresh my memory.The best part about the book to me was the area at the bottom of every positioning page to put your own techniques.Being in 6 different clinical facilities, this book helped out a lot. ... Great introduction to body MRI
Siegelman's Body MRI book is one of the best MRI introduction out there. Great for the radiology resident who need a general MRI book that will cover a lot of ground on a lot of topic while staying thin and affordable. From there you will be able to build further with more advanced texts and published articles. Also, there are a lot of images and they are of good quality. You won't be asking yourselves "Am I seeing what is described in the caption?". Important facts are well organized in tables for a quick review of a chapter. I beleive this book is a must have; have fun.

Body MRI ---Recomended
It is an excellent book for residents. It has the information needed for for all the subjects including Breast MRI. The author makes an effort to explain WHY thinks looks the way they do rather than listing imaging characteristics. Helped me pass the OB/GYN section.
All told it was well worth the money. The cd aspect of it was great , it was the best way for me to learn. That said I was dissapointed that the questions were exactly the same ones as in the book - I really had thought when I bought it I would be getting more of a database to chose from , much like the ARDMS. There was a question asking if the uterus pictured was antiverted, retroverted, etc. and it was a picture of the liver and rt. kidney. But again , it helped me and was a good addition to the (I agree) big yellow waste of money. How was the Abdomen part of it? Don't know , don't care right now either , you only need one specialty and the P&I to be regestered. Good luck to you all on this most difficult of endeavors.
