Easy to follow and understand for the NRP novice
Studying for my renewal for NRP proved to be as easy as the initial class with the cd-rom. I have extremely limited contact with this pt. population, but I am able to easily recall the information attained through this text/multimedia. Although nothing substitutes actual "hands-on," instruction or experience, this will provide a valuable asset for the ACLS/PALS impaired.

has its ups and downs
The book has absolutely everything you need to know word-for-word to get certified in NALS. It comes from more of a nursing perspective so little details like how to operate the jackson-reiss and anatomy of the airway will be extremely redunant for respiratory therapists. Very good, only lacks a chapter on TB
I find Egan's very useful, especially in detailing all the physiopathologic mechanisms lying under mechanical ventilation.

A new 8th edition has been published. But this is definately the Bible of Respiratory Care.

Really glad I bought it!
I bought my copy from Amazon...It reached in mint condition :-). I have read only a few pages so far, but it seems to be a great book on thoracic imaging. I also talked to some of the attendings about the book and they all said that McLoud is a great author and a great radiology teacher. I am really glad I bought this book early enough to be able to make good use of it for my chest rotation.

Well organised and well illustrated, easy to read
The authour has done a very good job of conveying the essentials of thoracic imaging in a easy to read and well illustrated single volume book. While coverage of some topics is superficial, the well organiseddifferential lists and nice images make this book a pleasure to read.Residents begining in thoracic imaging and those preparing for boards willfind this book invaluable. Respiratory Phys Provides The Basics
Respiratory Physiology provides the basics needed for a medical school respiratory physiology unit. By purchasing this book, a medical student is able to focus on the respiratory system in more detail than in some basic physiology texts.

Not useful for medical school.
This book might be a good review text for people who are already familiar with the material, but it can't be used as a stand-alone text. It just doesn't have the necessary explanations. I'd recommend sticking with the respiratory chapters in your favorite comprehensive medical physiology textbook.

Great for a basic book
This book is a great review of scalars, waveforms, etc.It does NOT cover physiology, but has great images and good legends for the figures. Small enough to fit in your pocket or slip into your bag -- much less bulky than a textbook.And cheap!

A useful book but at times will leave you wondering -- paid a stupid expensive price for the one at the campus bookstore ($70) but for the price of this the same content is present in the Dana Oakes book on mechanical ventilation, and more. Rapid interpretations of Ventilator Waveforms

A must have for all Respiratory Students
As a respiratory therapy instructor I found this to be an excellent toolfor all my students. It is easily understood and arranged in a logical,helpful manner.Many times books are orientated with the assumption thatthe student has some basis of knowledge of the subject, this one teachesthe calculations in completenessand and gives excellent examples.I haveenjoyed using David Chang's books because they are written for studentswithout making assumptions as to the student's understanding of the topicand students learn from them.It's not often I get excited about aworkbook, but this one is well worth having.

Respiratory Care Calculations
This is an absolute fabulous book by David Chang! I am a Respiratory Care Educator in a Cummunity College Program and I have witnessed continual problems with students being unable to perform the basic math associatedwith respiratory care equations and calculations. I am so impressed withthis particular book that I am going to REQUIRE each student in my classesto purchase this book as a mandatory part of the course! Don't be misled
I bought this off amazon thinking it was Felson's text in new edition. But it was very basic and has these annoying spaces for you to fill in the missing ______________. The missing word is in the margin.
The best way to learn to read chest films
This is an excellent publication for anyone to learn to read chest radiographs.It provides a thorough method that you can use on each and every film so as not to miss anything.And it's much more clear than any of the lectures that I've ever attended, because the methodology is so sound and complete.This book elucidated many principles that were not covered in my courses, from anatomy on the radiograph that all professors seemed to assume that we know, to more specific signs that no one ever told me to look for. This book is very similar to Dubins(EKG's). It makes the reader an active participant in the reading. The book is do-able. It has lots of examples and I was able to get through it in a less than a week. I am much more comfortable reading chest x-rays after reading this book. easy but complete approach to mechanical ventilation
I've just begun specialization in ICU and I found this text a very useful and simple approach to mechanical ventilation.
Good "basics" book
I used this book to study for board exams after practicing critical care ventilation for 3 years.Used it more for the jargon and specific terms than for physiology; it gave me what I needed.I would have liked more example scalars / PV loops, etc.But it has a good basic review of physiology as it pertains to ventilation.
