5-0 out of 5 stars The Power of Precison and the creation of genius
Although the Patterns books are old books, they explain everything in an understandable and exact way and I do mean exhaustively understandable and exact which is why I like them so much. I bought Patterns 1 in paperback and Patterns 2 in hardcover. But anyhow, showing the exactitudes and subtleties of the use of language in deep-trance hypnosis is genuinely fascinating no matter how long-winded the descriptions and stuff get. Who knows? The way he used language may have been the real beginning of "the subliminal movement". Well very interesting reading nevertheless.
5-0 out of 5 stars BANDLER AND GRINDER, NOT JUST AUTHORS
Richard Bandler and John Grinder did not just read and study Milton's method of hypnosis, they lived it day in and day out for years. They modeled it, along with Virginia Satir's therapy models, Moshe Feldenkrais movement models and others. This book is their primary work on the structure of Milton's trance inductions and his ability to create successful generative change in his patients. It is a must read for the serious student of hypnosis and a suggested read for everyone willing to work a bit to get to the good stuff.

1-0 out of 5 stars Convincing fiction
Sir Cyril Burt achieved unparalleled results in researching the effects of environment and heredity on identical twins.Only after his death did it become clear that the alleged research had never happened, that Burt lied to further what he perceived to be a greater truth.

3-0 out of 5 stars Book is for Vegans or people thinking about becoming Vegan
Granted, some of this book made me laugh out loud and reconsider some of the things I was eating. But overall, is a book telling you to go Vegan. The book doesn't talk enough about organic foods and free-range meats. It is all about meat, eggs, and milk = being fat...no matter if it comes from organic free-range sources or not.

3-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat useful, but not what I had in mind.
I have long suspected that most of us are poisoning ourselves with food.I have noticed that many food products which used to be wholesome have quietly changed over time, incorporating chemicals and cheap substitutes to increase profit margin. This book certainly supports my suspicions.I purchased Skinny [...] hoping to find easy-to-read advice on selecting food products which still ARE healthy to eat, as well as information on the benefits of certain foods. This topic is covered to an extent. What I did not expect was the vegan manifesto. In the back of the book, the authors state that their primary reason for penning this text was to promote the vegan lifestyle. This information would be best included on the cover rather than at the end.If you read the information in the book through the appropriate filter, it is much easier to glean a little more fact, in my opinion.I did appreciate the lists of suggested menus and products; however, I was unable to locate any of the products either on health food store shelves or on the internet. The product suggestions may be outdated or too regional in focus.Overall, there is some good information in there, but realize that it has a definite slant.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm going to keep this short and sweet...
I will be honest, and say that the only reason I bought this book was because I thought it was cute. After taking it home, I quickly realized it was more serious than the title let on. I had no idea the brunt of the book was about veganism. I was a huge meat eater when I bought it, but let me tell you, as soon as I read about the USDA and the mistreatment of animals, I never touched meat again. It was THAT easy. I will also say that I loved their writing style. No BS, no hand-holding. It was solid (and sometimes scary) facts. So if you want to lose weight, and have a healthy conscience to boot, buy this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best book of veterinary acupuncture that I know that it is for sale for the internet.
It is a simple and easy book of understanding, of the way that the students, in the course beginning, need to understand the Chinese medicine, mainly the acupuncture. But for an acupunturista he is also very useful, because it serves as much as a study book and of headboard as of fast consultation, in spite of his size to turn it a little difficult to transport. But I always drop it off at my clinic and I read it whenever it remains a time. Each reading that I do learns a little more. I already possess there is him two years and I still didn't get to read it entirely. It is the book that more has been contributing to my learning as acupunturist. I recommend and a lot to all that are interested in the subject: Chinese medicine and veterinary acupuncture.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good primer
This is a wonderful text on complementary medical therapies for pets. I highly recommend it and as a fellow holistic veterinarian and author (8 Weeks to a Healthy Dog, The Allergy Solution for Dogs, and the award-winning The Natural Health Bible for Dogs & Cats,) I found the information quite useful.
4-0 out of 5 stars Loaded with information!
Very thorough book on veterinary acupuncture. It seems intended for veterinarians which may make it hard to digest for the lay person. The theory is very well explained, the chapters on history and studies are informative and the illustrations of points charts are excellent. It lacks on the practical side though. It gives you general knowledge but does not go deep into how to do point selection in relation to your clinical findings.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Pearl's path and gift to us all
This is an easy read, his directness and passion has changed my life as I walk my soul path.He explains how we can tap into this energy to assist others and ourselves in healing mental, spiritual and physical aspects of being human. He also helpsus to understand how ego may hold us back. I was guided to actually attend an oreintation in Washington, DC and met Dr. Pearl. I have taken Reconnective Healing I, II and completed "The Reconnection-Level III"
3-0 out of 5 stars Coming down to earth
When I began reading this book, I too was carried away by Eric Pearl's exuberance and passion. His book is heady stuff.Pearl is very funny, and he is even more persuasive, making some very astute observations of the human condition. The first part of the book - which is largely autobiographical - on the whole resonated well with me, and for this, I could have given 4 stars.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!
I've never been inspired to write an Amazon review before until I read this book-I've read a lot of books about healing, but not one has resonated with me like Eric Pearl's book. His easy to read and humorous style is exciting and engaging, and I could actually feel my vibration level rising while reading or even discussing the book. This is a life-changing book everyone can benefit from, and unlike many other books about healing 'techniques' Dr. Pearl isn't condescending, preachy or dogmatic. Reconnective Healing is something everyone can do without ritual or exclusive techniques and he makes a big point of that. I was so inspired by his book that I am flying halfway across the country to see him speak...I can't recommend this book enough! If enough people read this perhaps the consciousness of the world will shift in a posititive direction when we realize we're all connected and all empowered to heal. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still the One
This book is still, in my opinion, the best and most accurate introduction to standard Chinese medicine on the market. Often imitatated, nver duplicated. There's a reason it's been in print since 1982.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
Very clear, yet it does not over simplify it. If you are new to Chinese Medicine or want to deepen your understanding, this book is the way to go.

5-0 out of 5 stars question
I haven't used this book yet. I wanna know how many exercises does this book have? I'm looking for a book that has some good eye exercises, not just information about eyes, or basic stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thorough and Clear
The information is presented in a very clear, well-organized, and succinct way.The instructions for the exercises are very clear and thorough.I especially like the "What to Watch For" and "Notes" sections for each exercise.I feel like it's hard not to do these exercises correctly with all the notes and observations the author adds. The testimonials at the beginning and the introductory chapters really gave me hope and enthusiasm in this program.I just started the program, but I feel this book will have been valuable even if I do not see improvement in the "First Stage" of the program.
5-0 out of 5 stars Better than the other books!
If you are looking around Amazon at all the different vision improvement books, this is the one that is worth investing in. It is clear, succinct, and offers a step by step program that is thoroughly outlines and easy to follow. A lot of the other books on the subject offer a lot of information, but fail to give the reader a program to follow. Martin Sussman's book also explains why and how vision works and why it will improve with this program. I just got the book, but already his techniques have completely changed my (previously negative)attitude toward my vision. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Atlas of Chinese Tongue Diagnosis Volume 1
As a medical professional, I have an interest in what works to bring health to the system. At times, alternative medicines when appropriately applied, in the hands of the right people, ones trained in health care and disease, can offer stimulating results. But the question of how to obtain reliable material to diagnose and treat a disease remains a current issue. This book helps bridge the gap between Chinese diagnostics and the Western approach to disease.Atlas of Chinese Tongue Diagnosis provides visual illustrations of various ailments, mapped outwardly on the tongue, and includes written descriptions and symptoms. When applicable, it correlates the topography of the tongue to Western disease. However, the book is not all inclusive. It lacks treatment.I would suggest a companion, Radiant Health by Ron Teeguarden.Teeguarden's work covers portions of the ancient Chinese art of health and offers a treatment program designed to correct deficencies and disturbances in Qi.The two together provide a reliable source for a medical professional to understand and apply the basics in Chinese medicine.I highly rate this book when accompanied with Teeguarden's.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent atlas of tongue diagnosis
This is an excellent book for anyone interested in Chinese tongue diagnosis. The book is divided into sections according to pattern (Kidney disharmonies, Stomach and Spleen disharmonies, etc). Each section contains approximately 30 full-color, well-photographed tongues representing the pattern. This makes it easy to see the range of tongue signs for each pattern. Also, the description of the tongue, the patient's symptoms, Western diagnosis and Chinese diagnosis are printed next to the photo of the tongue for easy reference.(You don't have to flip back and forth between the text pages and the color plates, as in Maciocia's Tongue Diagnosis in Chinese Medicine.)This book isn't cheap, but the quality of the photographs and the clear description of the tongues makes it a very worthwile investment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars No question that it works.
I found this book after googling a bunch of different things, and came across these reviews.Lots of good reviews, a few negative ones.Well, I noticed that all the negative ones were either people who hadn't actually tried it or people who didn't really stick with it.You can't rate a book negatively if you don't follow the program.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!!!
I highly recommend this book, it works and it's the BEST.Even though I hadn't followed most of the recommendations like the enemas and baths it still worked for me just due to the diet change. What I would suggest also is to try to personalize it more, by finding out what works for you with diet.. mostly concerning laxatives, as for me most of them perscribed didnt' work (I guess my system is quite hard) so I explored around and found out that for me things like fresh papaya, dry figs, dates, eggs, and moloukhia (a green spinach like plant popular in the middle east) also other foods that are cleansing and remove toxins are good to increase, then decreasing the starches and adding more fruits, veggies and such foods into the diet really works.
1-0 out of 5 stars WHAT A HORRIBLE TRICK!
For years now, my best friend and ex-boyfriend of almost four years has been suffering from severe psorasis, as well as psoriatic arthritis. He had been through several doctors and has tried multiple kinds of treatments, ranging from with or without a combination of photolight therapy, sun and water therapy, topical treatments, and systemics (Methotrexate, Soriatane, etc).A few months ago, I discovered Dr. Pagano's book and shared this information with him. After having read the book, he decided to really dedicate himself to the diet and everything Dr. Pagano had stated in the book, such as the monthly visits to Dr. Pagano, the olive oil, the flaxseed oil pills, the peanut oil baths, the 50/50 combination of the peanut oil and olive oil, etc.For a few weeks only, it worked wonderfully. It seemed to be working for him, but after those few weeks, he broke out.Dr. Pagano had stated that he would have a break out before it would get better because the "toxins" were trying to leave the body, but after his psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis kept getting worse, Dr. Pagano finally told him that he would have to go back on phototherapy and systemics (Methotrexate). For a little over two months, because of this diet, he had the worst break out ever.He literally broke out all over his body, even on his face and neck!I truly believe that this diet would work for those that are only suffering from mild to moderate psoriasis, but for those suffering from severe psoriasis, I suggest that you beware! If you see yourself breaking out too much and for too long of a period, maybe you should try a different treatment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very user friendly energy tips
I bought this kit on the recommendation of other reviews - always wonder if they are genuine. They were very accurate. This is a great package.I am a tactile therapist and use energy within my treatments. These dvd, book, cards and cd present many energy techniques in a simple and accessible format.Great to use for myself and I have been passing on some techniques to clients already.I am very happy with my purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tried it and WOWit worked for me
This kit arrived for my birthday and I used the cut-glass crystal as instructed and could really feel and even see the interaction of the spinning crystal with my finger energy. I could feel tingling in my meridians and more energy. The crystal is not used as a pendulum but is twisted to make it spin over key areas.Really very intriguing and effective. Then I had to do other things and got in at 10 pm.Thought I would watch the DVD.Did the exercises along with the DVD.Then thought I'd do some internet research. Got up to stretch and thought the clock must have stopped. It was 4 am and I didn't feel tired at all!I was so energized that Ihardly slept even when I got to bed.Had to get up at 8 am so thought, well, I'll do the exercizes I learned to help me through the day since I didn't sleep hardly at all.I had a great day and was extremely energetic.People commented. And I am a person who is tired all the time and gets sick from missing sleep! I love this stuff and am amazed how incredibly well it worked! But in the future I will certainly be more careful about charging up before going to bed!
5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have!
I use and teach these energy exercises to all my energy therapy (Emotional Freedom Technique) clients and, of course, myself daily. This kit has valuable tools. Anyone who is interested in energy and/or emotional healing should have this. I highly recommend it! ... Read more

Coming from a Fundamental Baptist background, I was extremely skeptical about this book and the ideas in it.I must admit though when I reasoned with my spirit and not my mind, I could truly understand the Biblical relevance of healing and miracles for today! After applying the principles taught in this book, my husband's legs have grown to be even, his spine was straightened, my arms are now the same length, my spine has straightened, and my husband has administered healing to others as well.Excellent, excellent book.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Dissapointingly Deceiving
If you are in search of an autobiography of a dedicated and intrinsically emotional scientist, then this is the book for you. However, if truly interested in the actual neuroscience this book claims to teach, search for a more nonfictional and scientific work.Pithy factual information of such molecules of emotion is obstructed with unnecessary personal dramatics and stories loosely tied to the intended subject matter. While the book provides insight to the life of a cutting-edge scientist, the autobiographical nature obscures the supposed purport of the book: to teach the neuroscience of emotions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Molecules of Emotion
This is an outstanding book by an outstanding woman who's science has had, or should have, an enormous impact on our knowledge of what and how we really are.

5-0 out of 5 stars WELL-RESEARCHED AND VERY HELPFUL
An excellent source of information. This book, published in 2003, is exhaustively researched, she cites medical and research studies involving hundreds and thousands of subjects, she covers the newest technologies and medications. The only thing missing from her book (because it was published a few years ago) is the very latest information about the potential dangers of Fosamax and the class-action lawsuits about the death of bone in the jaw that has caused people to have their jaws removed. She provides excellent suggestions for improving bone health, including exercise, dietary changes, supplements, and other ways to beat osteoporosis. She doesn't say that osteoporosis is a myth, she just debunks some of the myths surrounding this condition.
5-0 out of 5 stars +Very informative
This book was very informative and helped me decide to stop taking Actonol.Very eye-opening.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read If You Are "Borderline"
This book was well-researched and very readable. I was able quite easily to verify the author's conclusions against the underlying medical literature she cites. Much of it is on the internet. The book provides a needed "balance" concerning all of the hype about osteoporosis.

Editorial Review

Interest in and usage of herbal preparations as alternatives topharmaceuticals has exploded in recent years. Having a complete herbal referenceon hand is now absolutely necessary for doctors and other healers when a patientwants to add herbs--let's say St. John's wort--to his drug regimen. Should thepatient stop taking the Paxil he's been on for depression, and if so, how longmust he wait before he can start taking the St. Johns wort, and what's therecommended dosage?Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference for herbal medicines
Being a licensed practitioner of Chinese medicine here in the US, I purchased the PDR for Herbal Medicines, 3rd ed. because I wanted to have access to western scientific resource material about the many (about 700) herbal medicinals covered in the volume. If you're looking for a good clinical or diagnostic manual for learning how to prescribe herbal medicinals, this book, by no means, articulates how to actually effectively prescribe herbal medicines properly. In order to prescribe herbal medicines safely and effectively, they must be applied according to a diagnostic pattern discrimination methodology that is suitable for each patient's constitution, clinical presentation and pathological disease situation. All that said, however, the book is an excellent resource for information about known scientific research, references to other source materials as well as pharmacological, chemical, toxicological cautions and contraindications for each herb covered in the volume. In fact, for this kind of information, the text is hard to beat. No one should use or prescribe a medicinal that they do not know the possible side effects and toxicity potential for that particular plant material. Although some naive individuals believe that all medicinal plants are safe to use, in fact, some herbal substances are toxic, contraindicated during pregnancy, should only be used for a short period of time, etc. This book has explicit information that is consistent with many of the best herbal medicine text books that I own. The book even has ratings by the well known German 'Commission E' board that approves herbal medicines in Europe for professional use. And if that isn't enough, many Chinese and Ayurvedic medicinals are also covered. There is also a section that covers many nutritional supplements on the market as well. All in all, I highly recommend the book to those who want detailed identification, dosage, usage, pharmacological and toxicological reference material for a large number of useful plant medicinal substances. This is a great book to fill in the blanks that many other reference texts simply do not cover.

5-0 out of 5 stars A thorough and useful reference
The PDR for Herbal Medicines is an excellent, thorough and scientific resource that will prove invaluable to physicians, nurse practitioners, naturopaths and others who use botanicals in the clinical setting. Also important for physicians who want to make sure that patients self-medicating with herbs are doing so safely. The various indexes make it easy to access vital facts rapidly.

2-0 out of 5 stars A good book with a mixed result

5-0 out of 5 stars Opens up a world of herbal options for optimal health
I like the way this book lists herbal remedies side by side with conventional medical treatments. It's useful to see your options laid out like that. I like the organization. It's easy to find what you need. I also like that one of the authors has an M.D. it's encouraging to see that a traditionally trained doctor sees the value of phytomedicinals. The book is organized by health problems. Under each heading, there is a listing of herbal as well as conventional remedies, as well as a paragraph describing how each remedy works. This method of organization makes much more sense than listing herbs alphabetically, especially for someone who's in a hurry to find something. I only just received the book from amazon.com, but I can already foresee that I will use it often. I only wish they had made the book bigger and printed it on nicer paper. Oh well...you can't have everything, I guess.
