3-0 out of 5 stars Needs more...
I disagree with the many reviews which compare this text to White's Human Osteology. While there is no doubt that the text is informative and the treatment of the subject thorough, Scheuer's text lacks enough illustrations to make it worth the buy for practical use in identifying fragmented juvenile or infant remains. White's text provides at least one photo and description of each bone, usually from every angle. When Scheuer releases a second addition, with far less text, and more photos or illustrations for osteologists who do not have access to a skeletal collection of juvenile and infant bones, then it will be worth the buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have reference book
This is a first rate holistic treatment of sub-adult osteology. The text covers the entire juvenile skeleton.Chapters contain drawings of each skeletal element, descriptions of growth, unique developmental attributes and in some cases, illustration of the element through different growth stages to see the sequence of changes of the bone up to adulthood.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Canon of Medicin
I am just more then happy for the book "Canon of Medicin". It is realy something I wanted to have, and finely I got it. Thanks being to Amazon which made it possible to have the item which was almost impossible for me to have. I am realu grateful. The book is actualy a gift for my husband, a gift from me, but respect Avicenna and his work, which is mostly interesting to read! Canon of Medicin is an respectable and readable book, not only for medical student/doctors, but also for other people!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gruner's remarks worth the price of the book.
It is hard to believe that a book, so beautifully bound, is so poorly edited for numerous common typos.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good History Lesson For Westerners
This book was written over 900 years ago by a muslim man. It was the first ever book on modern medicine. This book is the one that exposed modern medicine to the then backward western world and whole world. So popular that it was published 35 times and taught in Europe for 600 years. This book is a good ever lasting proof that east ( muslims ) started modern medicine. Muslim doctors were using Hollow needles to extract cataract when their western contemporaries didnt even knew it existed. Excellent work! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction to Energy Psychology and Energy Medicine
The authors have done a wonderful job of introducing EFT and EM to the general public. This book is a great place to learn many of the details of these amazing approaches to mental and physical health. --Dr. Fred P. Gallo, author of "Energy Psychology" and "Energy Tapping."

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best medical texts I have read....
As a physical therapist working in the field for 25 years, I have read many medical textbooks. I recently read "Massage for Orthpedic Conditions" by Thomas Hendrickson, D.C., and found it to be extremely well written, very organized and informative. It was an excellent review of anatomy, and clearly described the hows and whys of his unique massage techniques. I highly recommend it to any physical therapist, massage therapist or other allied health professional.

5-0 out of 5 stars A tremendous help!
This book has been an absolute necessity for me as a massage therapy student! It has been much better than our required anatomy textbook for getting a good look at and understanding of the musculoskeletal system.I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to learn these areas of anatomy and especially for those working with massage/bodywork.A tremendously helpful book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Basic Clinical Massage

2-0 out of 5 stars General Information - Little Depth
The reviews I had read led me to expect great things.Perhaps that is why I was so disappointed. This book is "comprehensive" only in the sense that it briefly mentions many aspects of hypnosis and hypnotherapy. With regard to these mentions, however, I found it to be quite superficial. With only 176 pages prior to the Appendix, not much depth should be expected on any particular topic.3-0 out of 5 stars Reasonable Modern Book, but contains errors.
This is a fairly good representation of some modern techniques of hypnotherapy, many taken from NLP.It is certainly and by no means a "comprehensive guide" however. It is actually quite a short book.I have identified several factual errors in the book, mainly in the second chapter, the historical section. There are many questionable claims in this part of the book, they are not supported by a single historical reference or quotation. There are also straightforward errors in the account of linguistic terminology contained later in the book. Nevertheless, it is an interesting read and probably worth buying. It is not a great book on the subject, nor is it anywhere near being a comprehensive one.3-0 out of 5 stars Reasonable Modern Book, but contains errors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you Jim Johnson
Physical therapist (P.T.) Jim Johnson's The Multifidus Back Pain Solution is a straight forward, educational and hope inspiring read that has been effective in helping me address my lower back and leg nerve pain.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Overview of Approaches Used For Back Therapy
I found this book to be an excellent guide and would highly recommend it to anyone starting their own journey in addressing a back injury. It's short, but it has a lot of good information very well presented. While the author does focus on the multifidus muscle, the book gives a very objective overview of how to handle back problems in general, from generic lower back pain to pain associated with herniated disks. He also helps lay people understand how the medical profession categorizes back injuries to put them in their proper scope. The book describes several exercises, but not anything beyond the scope of the multifidus.More exercises would have been a great addition, but the book isn't about all back exercises.Anyone with a serious back injury should see a physical therapist for guidance. What I found most useful in the book is the short mention of steroid injections (epidural), which seem to be questionably useful. The author could have elaborated more on the appropriateness of them, as it's hard to compare your own situation with those in studies (ie: how many millimeters is the disk bulging).I also liked the fact that the author provided select references for the types of issues most lay people would be interested in viewing. In my own experience, I've learned that a muscle imbalance is most likely the cause of my L5-S1 herniated disk, and it took 14 weeks and a good number of visits with various practitioners to come to that conclusion.

4-0 out of 5 stars the little know multifidus muscle
I had 2 herniated discs.Went through chiro, massage, p.t., cortisone injections....then i read this book and began following the exercises in it.The MacKenzie method DID NOT work for me, it only created more pain. This book was extremely helpful to me.Surprisingly, my massage therapist recommended it, not my physical therapist, orthopeadic, or chiropractor.I am fully healed without surgery and running marathons!I recommend this book to any average person who wants to have a better understanding of how to strengthen your back and core! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Worth reading
An excellent book on the basics of quantum healing. It was written simply enought that I bought another copy and sent it to my 13-year-old grandson; I wish I had started to teach myself how to help others with their pain when I was younger. It's a very practical book, easy to read, easy to follow and easy to put the methods into practice.Thank you, Mr. Gordon, for writing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must have book for the healer in all of us
I was only part way into the book, practicing the exercises when I began to experience results while working on myself. 5-0 out of 5 stars Partial Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems
I think this book is Possibly the best Mathematic book for Engineer I've ever read. This is due to the fact that the material is so much clear and the examples are so easy to follow. The book's explanation is precise and accurate. The exercises on every chapter are helpful. I practise almost most of the exercise problems. In fact, I score an "A" on the first Test. I will recommend it to everyone without hesitation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Initial impressions
Nakhle:Just a quick note to thank you for your book! It arrived Thursday, and I've been reading it and doing the exercises both on paper and in Mathematica 3.0. After a quick review of the whole book and a thorough reading of the first 70 pages so far, I can say I just love it! IfI'd only had a book like this in college and graduate school I'd havebecome a much better electrical engineer. Yours is one of the bestexpositions of both Fourier series and partial differential equations I'veused. Although I haven't gotten very far into the boundary value problemsand the orthogonal functions areas of the book yet, my initial reviewindicates they will be excellent also. I am enjoying your book immensely, and I thank you very much for it. I'll update this with a more thoroughreview when I have a chance to finish the book, but I wanted to share myinitial impressions so others might weigh them into their own decisions toget this excellent book.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing.
Positives about this book is that, unlike other books which offer "cure", nowhere does Null states or implies that the book is intended to cure or eliminate any sort of disease or illness, besides that aspect, the book is largely disappointing. Unfortunately much of the information contained here can be found on the Internet, but there are several problems as well.
5-0 out of 5 stars A book ev eryone should have...
This encyclopedia is a powerful resource for everyone. It's my first stop for treating a condition. With all of the harmful side effects of drugs and the state of health care in America, it's nice to know that someone like Dr. Null has taken the time to research and gather all of this information in one - easy to use -place.
5-0 out of 5 stars Gary Null Has Outdone Himself,
The indefatigable Dr. Gary Null has truly outdone himself with The Complete Encyclopedia of Natural Healing (Revised and Updated ISBN #:0-7582-1316-6). I very much enjoyed the original Encyclopedia, but Dr. Null has redone the entire book, making it much more "user friendly." Parts of it actually read like a novel. Not only has he included many more references to scientific studies, but he has also incorporated studies from this year, 2005-this is an indication of how hard he must have worked to include up-to-the-date information. For example, it was just this year that cancer replaced heart disease as the number one killer of Americans. Out of curiosity, I perused the book to see whether it noted this. It did! To me, this is an indication of how much of his considerable talent and experience were put into this project.

5-0 out of 5 stars never trust a zealot for your healthcare either
I don't know too many physicians who pick up a textbook and consider themselves qualified for an entire branch or subspecialty of medicine. Those who seek to add acupuncture to their practices almost universally do it out of frustration with drugs and surgery, and the quest to help their patients in ways that western medicine cannot.I fall into this category, as do several of my colleagues.
4-0 out of 5 stars Never see an MD for acupuncture
It scares me that Medical doctors and osteopaths pick this book up and consider themselves qualified to do acupuncture.

I am a western trained Osteopathic Family Physician with a strong interest in integrating acupuncture into my clinical practice.I have studied numerous Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) texts and find myself lost and confused. My western trained mind has a difficult time grasping Qi, Essence, Channels, the Four Examinations, the Eight-Principle Pattern Identification. . . What I can grasp are the concepts of Biomedical and Neuroanatomic acupuncture as presented in "Biomedical Acupuncture for Pain Management".If you are a western trained health professional and are interested in learning more about acupunture or are interested in a practical book that can help you integrate acupuncture into your clinical practice, then this book is for you.I strongly recommend that you also look at "Acupuncture, An Anatomic Approach" by Houchi Dung.I carry both of these books back and forth to work every day.I use them and refer to them that often. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Useful, important book. Highly recommend it.
This book is turning out to be a valuable tool for me in practice and teaching. I recommend it for students, teachers and health practitioners who want to use essential oils to enhance patient care. It is well-written, objective, practical and has extensive references, summary tables, appendices and index. As a physician, I appreciate its integrative approach. It is a good synthesis of history, chemistry, safety issues, experience, basic science, some of the most current clinical research, clinical applications and more. I especially liked the section on infection. In my opinion, it is an important work, which could well influence future research and clinical use of essential oils in the United States.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Resource
This is a great book for any health professional wishing to enhance patient care with aromatherapy. As a nurse, Ifind it to be an outstanding resource full of scientifically based information related to essential oils and their uses. Dr Buckle has included an easy to use index to guide the reader to information on a variety of diseases and conditions which respond to aromatherapyintervention. This is a "must read" for anyone incorporating aromatherapy into a clinical or community setting.

4-0 out of 5 stars A history of America's best-kept secret
With a limited understanding of osteopathic medicine's roots, I set on a crash course to find an osteopathic medical history book similar to what a Kenneth Ludmerer's "Time to Heal" did for the history of medicine itself. And with Norman Gevitz's book, I was surely not disappointed. One would think that as a book recommended by the AOA and written by a osteopathic medical school professor, the book would be slanted. However, Gevitz does a great job at maintaining neutrality as a historian while demonstrating a certain degree of candidness, particularly about M.D./D.O. relations and the future of osteopathic medicine.Despite my ecstasy for this book, I do feel that there are certain portions of this book that can be further elaborated (reasoning behind the four-star rating). For example, I would like it if more material was included about osteopathic medicine between 1960 and today.Specifically, Gevitz seems to gloss over the political and social reverberations behind Henry Kissinger's monumental decision to admit D.O.s in the military as equals to M.D.s.Nevertheless, I thought the book was very well written and has definitely sparked an interest into one of this nation's best-kept secrets. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Shame on you Lewin!
Corrupting the integrity of the amazon review system with viral marketers is a distasteful annoyance but it pales in comparison to preying on the hopes of the ill.
4-0 out of 5 stars Author's response
In his/her short "review," "jubjub" makes the extremely serious accusation that either I, as author, or Irving Dardik, as the subject of the book, must have "paid" some of the reviewers, because of their positive comments. ("Jubjub" uses the derogatory term "infomercial language.") While I refrain from stooping to respond to such a base claim, I would ask why "jubjub" would seek to hide behind a mask of anonymity while making such a claim about me in such a public arena? Does she/he not have the decency or courage to simply identify themselves? What does she/he have to hide, if anything? (In entering this "review," I was asked to select a rating; as author, I simply entered its current rating, not wishing to skew the rate either way.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Answers that do not come in the form of pills
It is amazing that everyone prays for an answer and then, when that answer shows up, those who have are so afraid to have that answer and, in their own lives, have not made one contribution to the betterment of human life, criticize those who have. These are not infomercials for Irv, they are written by people who's lives have been saved through his vision and brilliance.I am one of them. The way to be healthy is to "cause health".Health is not "an absence of disease".Health is HEALTH! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Network care heals the spinal nervous system
I was skeptical when a friend introduced me to network chiropractic. Since my insurance company covered the full treatment sessions I decided to give it a go. The surprise was worth it. Network chiropractice heals the spine and the emotional nervous system. So not only are the problem areas adjusted but the tension held in the nervous sytem is released. This is not cracking the joints but working with pressure points to align the body naturally and gently into place. If you get coverage for chiropractice ... give this a go.

3-0 out of 5 stars Genius can be hard to understand...
I have completed over 100 sessions of Donald Epsteins "Network Chiropractic" or "Network Spinal Analysis" - and I can vouch for it. I believe it is unique, as it states, and not only is a process whereby you can overcome your pain, discomfort, and tension (defence physiology), but grow as a person overall. The benefits are without a ceiling to the "bodymind", and it just keeps getting better. It doen't even compare for example to the theory so highly touted and created by John Sarno (also reviewed) which is essentially learning how to control your pain. Network unwinds your spinal cord -- where all your tension resides, which is also said to be the subconscious mind.
5-0 out of 5 stars A groundbreaking work...
The 12 Stages of Healing presents a model of healing that allows the reader to be more "OK" with their own healing process. By learning to identify yourself in one of the 12 stages, you begin to see that what is going with you is not necessarily a "problem", but rather part of a larger process. The simple act of identifying the stage you're in and then doing the easy breathing exercise designed to get that particular rhythym flowing is often enough to move you into the next stage.I have seen over and over again the natural accuracy of Dr. Epstein's model: the moving from a sense of helplessness, to the reaching out(or sometimes blaming!), to the perceiving the stuck patterns in myself and on and on. Use this book as a daily guide to life's challenges. ... Read more
