3-0 out of 5 stars Not quite my cup of tea.
I like the concept of making weight loss more of a spiritual journey, but Chumley's religious approach is a little more than I can accept.I think if you are really at rock bottom regarding your weight, or if you are quite religious to start with, this book is more likely to be helpful to you.On the plus side, it is simple to understand, concise and well-written.Not a bad read, and has some helpful bits even if you're unable to accept the entire book as a new way of life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Give God the Glory
This is a great book, easy reading, inspiring, and motivational. You can't ask for a better way to lose weight than with God. It's so great, in fact, that a friend and I have started a group at yahoogroups, based on the book...

5-0 out of 5 stars very informative and easy to understand
I highly suggest this book to anyone with cancer or if your helping someone with cancer. The information is very practical, easy to follow and lets you know that there is way more you can be doing than just what your doctor tells you. great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars A common sense approach for the most part
After having two close family members diagnosed with cancer I became very concerned about the nutritional and environmental links to the disease. When someone you love has kidney cancer and the doctors tell you that they don't know why it happened you have a tendency to panic.I set out to learn everything that I could about cancer and possible causes and/or techniques for prevention.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best book of this genre..Not full of the usual disproven B.S.
Unlike many other books of this type, this book is well-documented and not full of disproven B.S.There is a more famous author who makes claims that various doctors have found "cures" for cancer.

This book was very helpful in presenting alternatives to traditional medicine for a variety of health issues.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible book
This book is absolutly incredible. It had me drawn in from page one. Dr. Upldeger writes in a way that is fun, easy to understand and intreguing. It opened a whole new world to me. There are a few ideas that seemed a little "out there" but as I took one of the upledger classes and as I've used Craniosacral Therapy in my practice I have seen that the body has no limits...and anything is possible. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This practical guide assists them well a neophyte's need in veterinary acupuncture.
It is a simple and easy book of understanding, of the way that the students, in his course beginning, need to understand the Chinese medicine. But for a professional acupunturist he also has his usefulness, because that the part 3 on treatment serves more commonly as a fast guide of treatment for the diseases found. Its serves as a book of incomes. In spite of knowing that the Chinese medicine seeks the treatment of the patient and not of the disease in itself, trying to balance the patient, nevertheless, as a first treatment this book aids the professional to give the first steps. I recommend a lot of this book to students of veterinary Chinese medicine and the acupunturists that are in the beginning of his professional life as acupunturist.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eye opening and a blessing for your life
I truly agree with the review written by M. Savoie "waxnwane" (Bound Brook, NJ USA). I add that this book is like an owner's manual for the human body. I, too, went to a Holistic Massage School, and I thank the powers that be that I got this book from them! I am learning things from this book that I have not found (written or spoken) anywhere else. It is easy to use, and most of the ingredients can be found in your local grocery store (for the cleanses). I keep this book in plain site in my home, and anyone who asks me gets overwhelmed by my response. If you buy no other "health" book than this one, you have purchased the best one! Someone had to do it .... THANK YOU ELSON M. HAAS for writing this book!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great Guide
This is an easy book to read no complicated words just right to the point no misguiding information, plus it has everything you need from top to bottom. This is a reference book that I think is great for people who wish to learn about the 5 elements and chinese medicine. I recommend it to all types of people.

5-0 out of 5 stars User-Friendly and Empowering Book of Healing
I discovered this book as it was part of my curriculum in Holistic Massage Therapy School. But it is applicable to anyone who is looking to learn about holistic health self-care.Based on the Chinese 5-Element theory, Staying Healthy With The Seasons explores the particular energies, meridians, organs, moods, strongpoints and pitfalls of each season. It is easy to read, and pick and choose which ideas you like and would like to incorporate into new habits to try. There are so many ideas for each season, ranging from dietary cleansing, to mental patterns, to holistic bodywork recommended for the season, that you are bound to find some ideas that really appeal to you where you are now, and others you may like to try later.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a simple read!
This book is not so much a book on Craniosacral therapy technique as an indepth anatomy textbook.Upledger explores in great detail each of the cranial nerves, the structure of the neck (focusing much attention on the hyoid bone), and the TMJ.He uses medical terminology and an information-dense writing style.Fortunately, there are well labeled diagrams on nearly every page to correspond with the text and illustrate what is being discussed.I found several useful pieces of information to improve the use of Craniosacral therapy with my clients, but I had to search to find these pieces. This is a book I will have to read over and over--not necessarily because I enjoyed the book, but because it has so much information it is difficult to absorb in one reading.I recommend the book if Craniosacral work is a significant part of your bodywork practice and you need more information for working in clinical situations.Be warned! It is not a book you can just keep on your shelf and pull out to quickly look something up in the middle of a therapy session. It is a book to be studied. ... A lot of the percursors mentioned in this book, namely androstenedione, are no longer legally available in the U.S.

5-0 out of 5 stars I tested prior to takingandro and after!!!!!
The advice given is worth listening to. I did. I am 58 and tested prior to the use of Androstenedione and after, The results were great. I was at the lowest level of testosterone to start and after 6 months of 50mg of Ando per day, It was raised the middle level, Just where I wanted to be. L-Glutamine and Creatine are other supplements to be considered for older men, When used in correct doses and exercise bring good results. I have more studies on my website. Roger Mason, a Scientist has other good books on Amazon check them out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Super Book on Super T
This is an excellent presentation, aimed at a lay audience, for the role of testosterone replacement and supplementation for male and female health. The author clearly knows the field backwards and forwards, and presents a balance view on each supplement and approach discussed. I also thoroughly agree with his view on weight training, which can be summed up in a question one posed to Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Ah-nold's answer: "Am I too old to train with weight?" "You're too old NOT to." Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Dangerous!
This book is dangerous!Couple this with Troudeau's scam and you have a society who will substitute the healing powers of herbs for the lab versions of drugs.Allopathic theory of "symptom-Cure" written in the context of alternative health could very well lead to death.Herbs are medicine, the original medicine, and to tout them as miracle "cures" which will invariably cause people, especially Americans, to rush for the "miracle," can be deadly. Noone should be on medicine or medicications for any length of time, and we certainly should be at a more advanced stage by now to recognize that ANY book that suggests miracle cures is written only for profit, not for the knowledge it imparts. Gangi's book, "Forget The Cures, Find The Cause," was written to combat Troudeau's scam.I believe her book should have superceded this one as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Natural remedies are recommended
Finally, someonehas come out with information that the average person can understand. I tell my customers to read this book, so they will get reliable information about natural food supplements and herbs. Hopefully this book will be read by Millions of AMERICANS and they can lay their fears to rest.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for beginning and experienced osteopaths.
This is the long awaited basic textbook for osteopathic medicine. It is surprisingly complete, covering philosophy, history, research, and manipulative techniques. The beginning osteopathic student may find itmost useful for its practical discussion on the techniques--high velocity, myofascial release, etc. I believe it is also helpful in standardizing ourterminology, which will make it easier when taking board exams or talkingwith colleagues from other osteopathic schools. It includes contributorswell known within the osteopathic community, including Michael and WilliamKuchera, Melicien Tettambel,Eileen DiGiovanna, and many others. As a family practice resident I frequently turn to this textbook first whenI want to know more about how to treat a patient or when preparing lecturesfor students and housestaff.

5-0 out of 5 stars The osteopathic manipulative therapy bible!
This text is actually required reading for most if not all osteopathic medical students. It is a 'textbook', however, and hence completely (sometimes exhaustively!) comprehensive. But it is easy to read so thatanyone with an interest in OMT will get a methodic how-to for myriadtechniques, also a thorough history of osteopathic medicine to boot!Oneof my OMT professors at the University of Health Sciences College ofOsteopathic Medicine wrote or co-wrote a few of the chapters so of course,I think those are the best! If you are looking for an educational approachto learning manipulation and the reasons behind it, this is a valuableresouce. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Positional Release Therapy
This is the most must have, useful book I own.Techniques in this books were used on me by my Physical Therapist.I was on high doses of very strong pain medication.Through techniques used in this book, I no longer need to sleep with a cervical collar, my sciocita is fixed, as well as many other areas of my body that were in constant severe pain.I now take little and no pain medication.Positional Release Therapy along with other simple aids have helped me get back to a more normal life. The book is written so clear that a person without medical knowledge can effectively use the procedures. The good thing is you can't mess something else up by doing it wrong. You follow the directions and pictures until you get it right.Surgery was recommended by doctors on my back and this is now not a necessary option for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars clinically helpful
Although I've only taken one strain/counterstrain course (for the extremities) I use this text frequently in the clinic. The photos are clear and I can easily duplicate the positions for the neck/back although I've had no specific course instruction on those areas. Many times the techniques from this book have helped when other things haven't worked.Definitely worth checking this one out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easily organizes strain/counterstrain intervention

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother. Its mostly drivel
Hey. Don't be fooled by all the positive reviews. This isn't really a book about bowel problems. Its about anecdotal, unsupported, stories about some people who might have improved anyway. No science. No pretense of science. Not much information. Just look at how many used copies are for sale. Save your money. Stop going to MacDonalds, go home and cook yourself a good meal. Get a cookbook. Learn to cook. Don't buy this book. Drivel

5-0 out of 5 stars Can you tell I really like this book!
"Sinus Survival: A Self-help Guide" by Robert Ivker (isbn: 1585420581) This `survival' book is amazing. (In contrast to "The Sinus Cure" by Debra Fulghum Bruce, which in my opinion, okay, I'll say it: "sucks").I've owned both books for five+ years now.In short, the `survival' book gives me plenty of `knowledge meat' to work with, while the `cure' book didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know. The `survival' book, on the other hand, I refer to every year, and learn (or relearn) more than I did before.Dr Ivker, is a sinusitis sufferer himself, went the extra hoops beyond MD to become DO and has many self-help options in here. He includes a thorough exploration of what EMT-physicians consider, and/or exams to possibly do, or surgeries, etc and why.True to his word, I've followed his steps and have become someone who regularly had two or more sinus infections every year, to someone who has been infection-free for five and counting. And for those earlier unfortunate times while suffering from one, I still gained immediate relief (beyond the antibiotics) from some specific steps he recommends. Can you tell I really like this book! Lol's

4-0 out of 5 stars A Roadmap to Relief
I had suffered for years with sinus problems - taking antibiotics, losing time from work, feeling depressed and hopeless.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent & comprehensive.
After reading everything on this and related subjects, 50+ books, I discovered this one, and as a sufferer of sinus infection and allergies, 2 sinus operations, 10 years of allergy shots, more anti-biotics than anyone would believe, I conclude that this book is correct on sinus infection & surgery, allergies, medication and prevention. After my second sinus operation, I told the surgeon about this book, who now recommends it to her patients. The nasal irrigation described in this book is usually more effective than any prescription, with no side effects. Just do it all the time, not just AFTER you become ill.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Solving the puzzle
Laura Stevens provides a much needed road map for parents seeking help for their children with ADHD.By providing step-by-step instructions, sound nutritional knowledge, excellent examples, problem-specific narratives, and good, common sense day-to-day practices (i.e.-recipes), she is eliminating the frustration in the search for answers for current and future parents of children with ADHD.This book provides the type of aid that only could have been given by someone who has had first hand experience in raising children with ADHD.Parents can now learn what to do directly from the book rather than waiting while much of the medical community is playing catch-up to scientific literature.

5-0 out of 5 stars Scripts and strategies
Allen collates both his previous volumes of collected Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy together in this work. Many inductions are included and a few deepeners.Rightly, most of the work is concerned with the business of therapy itself. Many situation-specific ego-strengtheners are included, as well as sections on common issues such as pain management and anxiety. The ever-popular smoking-cessation, fear-management and weight-control receive large chapters of their own which I have found invaluable in my Central-Manchester, Wilmslow and Romiley clinics.
5-0 out of 5 stars It's to the point
It's to the point, tells you what you need to know without all the filler stuff.Lots and lots of scripts. This one is a keeper.Great information to the hypnotherapist. If you are not using this book in your office then get it. Everything that you need is in this book.I don't know were to start, it has everything for any kind of session and even some that I have never seen. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Primer
I read the first edition in 1997 and found it a useful reference for current thinking and discussion.
1-0 out of 5 stars A practicing scientist's view
If you are willing to base your (or your patients) healthcare decisions on vague analogies and such sources as 'The esoteric literature...' then this book may be for you.I found it kind of boring, and the author's attitude to hard science pretty high-handed, considering his background.I entirely agree with a previous reviewer's analysis ('Fundamentally disappointing'). ...
