5-0 out of 5 stars Jampacked full of info and knowledge about TCM and how it correlated to helping achieve a successful pregnancy
I was referred to this book by a fellow friend who like me, is trying to conceive a baby over 40.This book talks with detail about how chinese medicine works and in particularly to help "strengthen" our reproduction systems. The information is very clear and detailed and can help anyone starting to explore the benefits of TCM. It enlightens the reader because it never dismisses the Western medical community, but talks about how the Eastern methods of TCM can enhance our already traditionally accepted practice of conventional medicine. It also talks about how TCM works well alone. However, it takes diligence and specialized practitioners to fully incorporate all of this info to practice.Finding a excellent Acupuncturist or Chinese doctor seems integraland the information is amass. I felt I learned quite a bit about Chinese medicine in just one night of reading, and I was already educated in many areas.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meridian Points of Acupuncture
If you are looking for a detailed description of acu points and are trained in the US perhaps this is not for you. These are the most affordable posters that one can buy. For others one expects to pay >$60. It illustrates all 14 meridians, and extra points(EX). It nicely lists the names in PinYin with tones so the LACs can pronounce them properly. It also has the Traditional Chinese names. The Int'l Standard Org(ISO) designations (LU,ST,GB etc.) are not printed on the charts. Rather, they are included in the 44 page phamphlet. All in all, this is an excellent pictorial representations of Acupuncture Meridian points available. They can be used as posters or framed in the office as conversational center piece. This is highly recommended for those interested in pain control, acupressure, and acupuncture. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Of The Bunch
I've been using energy tapping for several years.I went through two of Gary Craig's courses, then began buying books on the subject for further (and different) information.Gloria Arenson's book is simply the best. The reviews here cover most of what I was going to say, so I'll just add a paragraph.

HELPFUL WHEN YOU ARE NOT AT SCHOOL ANYMORE BUT HAS SOME ERRORS, ANYWAY CHEKING THEM HELPS DOING THE REVIEW.

1-0 out of 5 stars Errors, not helpful
This is a horrible prep book.I took three of the tests and found, upon review, that over 10% of the answers were wrong!I can't believe that the previous reviewers didn't catch this.Difficult to use for test taking and scoring. Many of the questions are as poorly worded as the actual NCCAOM test.In this way, it is helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best book for nccaom exam

5-0 out of 5 stars Best acupoints reference around
This is a great reference for anyone who wants to study the main acupoints. The pictures are great and wonderful. This is great for massage therapist or anyone interested in learning the energy meridian points. i wish the creators had an electronic version so that we can practice finding the points and seeing the flow of chi. They have this on their Qpuncture 2 cdrom, however, not everyone needs all the info on accupuncture needling. The only drawback is that the index format isn't sturdy. It can't be a portable study guide as the papers can easily tear if you flip through the pages too fast or from being uncareful. You can take the time to study it though. it's very organized with high quality visual pictures, info of where point location and how to put needles as well as when to use each point. Cool thing is that you see surounding bones, muscles, tendons, sinews, picture comparison to location of other points. Emphasis of the Qdex is on finding the location by having visual of surrounding anatomy parts. Get this if your serious about learning acupoints and get Qpuncture II cdrom if your serious about accupuncture. This product really goes above a 5 star. only complaint is sturdiness. would of been better if it were a hardback or paperback book reference which i hope will be considered in the next edition.

4-0 out of 5 stars cool study guide
This Qdex is great in most aspects or learning the basics. the pictures are 3 dimensional and you can see where the points are. The only complaint i have is that it's thin in it's index format. You can really flip through the qdex. you have to flip through it slowly so that the pages won't tear. It would of been cool if there were an electronic version of this so that you can practice finding points with a touch screen or see the flow of the meridians. They have the qpuncture software, however, that one goes so much more in depth then the qdex which is find for students to learn the points, especially those that just want to learn points for accupressure. having it as a flashcard format might be cool too so you can carry a few around to study. The qdex is not sturdy enough to be portable. It won't last long because of it's lack of studiness. It would of been better for the creators to make a book format. Would of given it a 5 but it won't last long as the pages can easily tear. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must read for Five Element Chinese Philosophy
There are other books out there, but few that have an easy to read format for both students and patients. This is a must read for anyone who desires to learn and understand Five Element Chinese Acupuncture. Lonny is great to hear in lecture but much better in his writing style.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nourishing Practitioners by Nourishing Destiny
Lonny Jarrett is one of the few authors who provides a complete analysis of the five elements that can be applied to everyday practice. I found as I read his book, which I did several times, various patients came to mind(others were not so clear...). Patients also related to the descriptionsof the five elements as it affected their lives. The approach provided mewith the extra information I needed to better treat an energy imbalance, rather than symptoms alone. The way Lonny combines the things we learn, the way we interpret the world, and the make up we bring to it, waspractical and applicable. He seems to be more from the Worsley school withits emphasis on the psychological rather than the cosmological school. Ifmore books like Lonny's come to print, I believe Western Chinese Medicinewill really have come of age.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb, unusual, and thought-provoking
This book is genuinely eye-opening. It is an advanced text focusing on five-phase acupuncture models. It discusses various phase types, and also utilizes case studies to clarify his perspective. It is highlypsycho-emotionally oriented, and therefore useful to add to the morestandard library of acupuncturists. Along with Jeremy Ross' book, I usethis book most frequently. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Two Thumbs Up
I am an actively practicing Osteopathic Family Physician.I incorporate a lot of manipulation and trigger point injections into my practice.I have been studying acupuncture (Traditional Chinese Medicine) now for about six months.TCM acupuncture is difficult for my western trained brain to grab a hold of and to be able to put into practical application.Anatomical Acupuncture is a breath of fresh air. This is a book that I, again as a western trained physician, can immediately grasp and immediately implement in my own clinical practice.I have already begun treating a few select patients based on what I learned in this book and am already seeing postive clinical outcomes.I highly recommend this book to you.You won't be disappointed.Well worth the investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Without the hocus-pocus
Insightful book that attempts to explain acupuncture from a scientific physiologic bent without the hocus-pocus found in a lot of acupuncture books written today.
5-0 out of 5 stars A logical, medical science based approach to acupuncture
As a physician, I have found Dr. Dung's approach offers the most logical and reasonable means of understanding and using acupuncture as a pain relieving modality for everyday clinical practice.A simple review of a bit of gross anatomy (emphasizing the peripheral nervous system) is recommended.Any well motivated and prudent physician can begin using this information fairly rapidly and will soon see that allegiance to "Yin/Yang" theory and other philosophical constructs is unnecessary.Neuromodulation is based on basic science research and is the logical basis of this wonderful (but underutilized) modality.I highly recommend this book to any physician/dentist who has had interest in acupuncture but was turned off by the metaphysical baggage it has carried (until now). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Problem Drinker or Alcoholic? It Doesn't Matter!
I don't know if I was a problem drinker or alcoholic.I don't care - I'm not into labels. But I do know I wanted to drink less and become less dependent on alcohol. And 7 Weeks helped me.One message in the book is you've got to take responsibility for your drinking instead of chalking it up to genes or a bad childhood or whatever.Another message is you can change if you want to.And Cornett gives concrete tips to cut down.
1-0 out of 5 stars Drink/Link is not recommended for the alcoholic
This book is not written for those of us that have been overindulging for years. It is written for the folk that are on the verge of becomming an alcoholic.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Winner for Anyone Questioning Their Drinking
This book has been a lifesaver for me. For years I enjoyed social drinking without problems, but the last couple of years I've questioned if I was drinking too much. This program showed me how to pace my drinking, how to make a drinking plan in advance before I started drinking(which really worked)and how to stick to my limit fairly easily. It also made alcohol less important to me - a huge step in the right direction to get back on the healthy social drinking path again. I recommend this book to anyone questioning their drinking. It's a straightforward approach to drink less and drink appropriately. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars The Dao that can be described is not the real Dao
As an acupuncturist and MD I am certainly interested in ideas about how acupuncture works. But I do not expect someone to tell me that his view of acupuncture is the 'true way' or therefor all other ideas about acupuncture, including the 'meridian' idea and the 'energy' idea are wrong. And that is exactly what Donald Kendall does.
5-0 out of 5 stars THE FUTURE OF INTEGRATED MEDICINE
"Why does anyone care whether Chinese anatomy and physiology are explained as energy flowing through meridians, or by the circulation of blood, nutrients, other vital substances, and vital air (qi) through the vascular system? The answer to that lies in the moral obligation of every practitioner to provide each patient with the latest medical understanding available. The need to continually search for the truth is the most fundamental principle of science and medicine... Research so far shows that the true concepts of Chinese Medicine operate under known physiological principles, involving the complex organization of the neural, vascular, endocrine, and somatic systems, sustained by the circulation of nutrients, vital substances, and oxygen from vital air."
5-0 out of 5 stars WOW- The Best English CM Book in At Least a Decade
I'm an acupuncturist, AND an author who puts Chinese medicine (CM) into layman's terms (see PulseMed.org).One of the most difficult things to explain is "What is qi?" and it's not fun responding to objections that Chinese medicine is unscientific or even occultic.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the First Acupuncture Textbook
This translation is actually in its 2nd edition now.The first edition came out in a hard-cover, which can often be found in used book stores, under books that are too esoteric for the general population, and too expensive for the novice student.Almost 10 years after the first edition arrived, this paperback version does not fail to inspire the one who has discovered it.It's like a gem among common stones.

2-0 out of 5 stars Clarification
Please note that Professor JR Worsley was indeed exposed to many teachers in the 1950's. He chose to follow his two teachers who eventually became his masters. They taught only ancient classical five-element acupuncture. He did not embellish or change terms taught to him. His Masters bestowed upon him the title "Master", which carries the honoring duty to teach and present this ancient system to the world.
5-0 out of 5 stars everything you wanted to know about 5 element acupuncture and more
I recently purchased this text at the recommendation of my instructor for a 5 Element course for physician acupuncturists.I have found it to be invaluable to introduce and reinforce the ideas presented in the course. In short--it's excellent.Buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars I've never heard of five element "constitutional" acupuncture
The Hicks, Hicks and Mole book is nothing but a caricature of the beautiful system of medicine practiced over 50 years by Dr. Worsley.I purchased this book with alot of enthusiasm but was soon disappointed, even horrified by some of what I read.As a practitioner, it offered nothing to increase my knowledge of Classical Five Element Acupuncture, and in fact, would sorely mislead anyone wishing to study and practice this medicine.I would hope that students of acupuncture would go directly to the Master's books for information regarding Classical Five Element Acupuncture:Traditional Acupuncture, Volumes 1 and 2, and Volume 3, The Five Elements and the Officials, by J.R. Worsley. All of his books are available through Amazon, are filled with Dr. Worsley's words and the true spirit of his work, and will enrich your practice and life.

I used this book to learn to build my self-esteem (yes, it does that too) and to try to get rid of a terrible memory that had become an obsession. I was doubtful at first but minutes after my tapping session (I read the book and then tapped for about 20 minutes), I felt completely better. The memory is still there but it doesn't bother me. I'm free! You don't even have to read the entire book to learn how to tap -- just read the first three chapters and then find the section that pertains to your problem.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Tapping Cure
I used tapping as I was going through EMDR treatment for post-traumatic stress syndrome. The EMDR treatment was very effective but produced large amounts of pain energy that I had to manage in between sessions. Tapping was the only way I could manage this pain. After a tapping sequence, I would go from experiencing overwhelming pain to a feeling of serene peace and calm. As I tapped, the spots were frequently tender, like there was an energy block present. The tapping produced an endorphin- release kind of feeling that was very similar to a post-sex bodily state--completely relaxed. Think about it. These techniques are free. They don't use drugs. They draw on the body's own resources--are non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical. Use tapping as your first line of defense in healing. Tell your doctor about the experience. Hey, go crazy and start a revolution to wean America from the expensive pharmaceuticals that are going to bankrupt our medical system. I couldn't recommend this book more highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great tool for stressful times
How could something so simple be so effective? I was skeptical at first, but the Tapping Cure is easy, it's fun, and it works! The book gives clear step-by-step instructions -- like having a personal coach.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical, thought-provoking, inspiring
This book has been essential for me in developing a concept of the healing force in myself and in everybody -- Life Energy, as the title succinctly puts it -- and how this force can be activated. The specific details about our emotions -- and how they relate to the acupuncture system -- are fascinating. I particularly find helpful and thought-provoking Dr. Diamond's use of etymology (the origins of words) in pinpointing and evoking emotional states. The many photographs and humorous or touching anecdotes -- all these contribute to this highly readable, very therapeutic volume. I find Dr. Diamond's affirmations and the acupuncture points, which are clearly illustrated, wonderfully helpful in creating a daily routine for health and happiness. I have gone on to read many other books by Dr. Diamond, but this one remains basic and essential. I highly reccomend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Acupuncture meridians and the Emotions
In this ground-breaking book, Dr. Diamond presents his research findings concerning the links between specific acupuncture meridians and various precisely delineated emotional states. The connection between the acupuncture meridians and the organs of the body has been known about for centuries, and underlies much Chinese, Japanese and Korean traditional healing, and with Dr. Diamond's work connecting the meridians and the emotions we now have a link between the emotions and the physical body.Although it has been accepted that our emotional state can affect our physical well-being, and vice versa, Dr. Diamond's pioneering research is the first to examine this mechanism in detail.1-0 out of 5 stars Just dopey.
I'm ashamed at myself for even reading this garbage. ... Read more
