Very Surprised!
I bought this book not knowing fully what it was all about.I was very surprised to discover that my 3rd grade daughter has been doing these exercies since kidnergarten, just under a different name - Brain Gym.Many exercises are the same, they just have different names such as cross crawl, brain buttons, turning our listening ears on, etc.They have definetly helped her in school. Her teachers have taught them to her, so I am excited to learn the exercises too.

This is scientific fact not pseudo-science
Dr. Huggins graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Dentistry in 1962 and received a master of science degree from the University of Colorado in 1989. He is no quack, he is a crusader for health.
Read this book and save your health
As a practicing physician, I would like to respond to the review by "palm dentist". This is the typical reply that you will get from closed minded dentists who just want to "drill and fill" then go home in their Mercedez and have no idea what a devastating blow they have dealt to the human beings who put their trust in the dental profession. The problem is that mercury leaches slowly over many years and the effects of the poisoning of the system do not develop until much later. On top of that the patient makes no corelation to his filling and simply presents to his physician while the dentist continues on his merry way with no clue as to the devastation that he wrought. Already, in the published literature, heart disease has been corelated to gum disease and bacteria from the mouth. It is only a matter of time before the whole truth comes out. Amalgam use is 200 yrs old. In 200 yrs they could not come up with a better alternative. It amazes me that they got away for so long with using the most poisonous heavy metal on the planet as a filling material. There is not one shred of proof that mercury in amalgam is safe and does not cause long term disability and death!
Another Pseudo-scientific money-grabbing topic
As a practicing dentist and scientist who could stand to generate a lot of income from the unneccessary removal of amalgam fillings, believe me when I say that from a "toxicity" standpoint, amalgam is a proven safe material, having been used in almost every country in the world for over a hundred years. There are other drawbacks to the use of metal fillings (esthetics, expansion-contraction) that should factor into one's decision to use composite over amalgam to restore a new lesion, but from a 'poisonous material' standpoint, I am in concurrence with the American Medical Association, the American Dental Association, and the World Health Organization, that amalgam fillings are safe, reliable, and effective. ... Great book, great explanations, great pictures, great reading
This amazing book clearly explains the history, physiology, and over 150 techniques of Strain Counterstrain... and the 3 simple steps to apply it.Techniques are divided into 9 regions from Cranio-Fascial to Feet.Each section details the tenderpoint locations and 'position of comfort'for the dysfunction to disappear! There are plenty of pictures, and Dr. Jone's writing style is easy and fun to read.There is even a section on self-treatment.Whatever your background, if you put your hands on your patients, this book is essential.

Too Difficult
Strain-Counterstrain would be helpful if there were more photos & discriptions with each stretch. It does not give enough direction.

This is truly the work of a genious osteopathic physician
This pure deductive manual of a manipulative discovery is astonishing. I have changed my 45 year medical-surgical attitude since I became aware of Jones' discoveries. Rhodiola radically changed my life
I have had a number of health problems over the past several years which have dramatically impacted my imune system, energy, and vitality. I began taking a product (blend of Rhodiola and three other botanicals) formulated by Zakir Ramazanov and Don Bodenbach, and I feel better than I have in years, I have energy, and my body actually defends itself from stress and illness.
Good read
This book was most interesting and informative.I was already using Rhodiola, but now know multiple reasons and can recommend it to others.

Adaptogens
I have been taking a formula of adaptogens developed by the late Dr. Israel I. Brekhman that includes rhodiola rosea and six other herbs. I have been taking this formula going on seven years, and at age 72 I feel fantastic. Whenever I go for a check up, the doctors are very impressed with my appearance and health. I will never stop taking this formula as long as I live, and I expect that to be a long long time, and that does not exist in my family history. When the Soviets first started their space program, they had an 85% drop out in the program. After being put on Dr. Brekhmans formula, they had an 95% retention, so that should tell you of the effectiveness of his formula. Maya Tiwari writes like Hindu Godess of Wisdom.
I started reading this book along with the original scripture on Ayurveda.I stopped reading the scripture when I realised that this book is authentic repoduction of sashtra (scripture).Maya Tiwari is highlymeticulous and writes in lucid langauge.She writes like Hindu GodessSaraswati (Godess of Wisdom).This book is a must for all those who thinkAllopathy is a joke.

The healing techniques were much too complicated.
Other than the words to live by, the book was too complicated to either understand or put into action.Unless I totally misinterpreted the text, the proceedures had to be done by at least one other person to help.Myspiritual journey is personal, I don't expect others to understand, howwould you find other people to help out if they don't get it? ... A Beautiful and Poetic Call to Action
This book is absolutely wonderful and exquisitely written. I loved the author's writing style, but especially appreciated his much-needed message. I can only hope that more people will continue to read this book and take away its powerful statement and do something with it! I plan on buying some of this author's other works, and couldn't suggest this book more! It's a true gem!

Powerful and Profound

A labor of love that speaks from every page
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. Thoughtful, poignant, well written, it even brought me to tears at some points. I learned so many things I didn't know, which doesn't happen for me very often, sad to say. I have a pretty good idea how destructive man has been to the environment, but there were chapters in this book that opened my eyes even further, particularly when it comes to the ripple effect of the pharmaceutical industry.

Best book I have ever read on myofascial release
I have been a deep tissue massage therapist for over 20 years.This is by far the best manual on theory and practical technique that I have ever used.If you want results as well as understanding, this is the book to get.I've also bought the author's 8 DVD set, which is almost as good as a one-on-one hands-on course with him.

Valuable and well presented material
This is a good book for anyone seeking to expand their understanding of fascia. By examining the relationship between the nervous system and the fascial network, it brings a new appreciation to just what happens under our hands when we touch someone. It's also rich with techniques, presented in a manner that makes them immediately repeatable in the practitioner's clinic. I'd recommend this book to the beginner as well as the experienced practitioner - it has material that will be of interest to massage and phsyiotherapists, OTs, osteopaths and chiropractors.

Excellent resource for Deep Tissue Massage
The foreword suggested that this is 'not just another book' & and is one of the first to 'spill the beans' on Rolfing techniques. However much of the techniques are covered in Art Riggs' book & video, although Riggs acknowledge that his book is based on Stanborough's manual.

Extremely wistful yet basic
I think this book is extremely wistful.It elaborates on the obvious which is that alcohol or drugs are not the problem....it is the feeling that makes one want to use them.The discovery of the issues and then learning some new tools as to how to manage them will erradicate the need for alcohol or drugs.Also, the book discusses how one must be very careful as to how we define ourselves as that can affect our self esteem and future choices (for example saying I am Julie and I am an alcoholic).This book describes a program in which the "user" is not being punished but rather becomes enlightened so that there really can be a cure rather than a "white knuckling" through life on life's terms.

A cute, cozy herbal
Jude's Herbal Home Remedies is designed more for those who enjoy folklore and simple remedies. This book is chocked full of recommendations, quick fixes, formulas, and more. I enjoyed the little tidbit on growing herbs with the three sketches of ideas, good stuff.
FABULOUS!
I have just started learning about herbal remedies and leading an herbal lifestyle, and this was one of the first books I read on the subject. I strongly recommend this book to any herbalist - beginners or pros. Jude's recipes are easy to follow - and they are wonderful. I've made my own soap and lotions so far...and they have turned out beautifully. This book has changed my life and opened my eyes to a healthier way of living.

Good Guide To Reiki & Healing Philosophy
This book is only about 150 pages, yet it manages to introduce the reader to many valuable areas of information and philosophy about Reiki healing.Usui's 5 principles are examined, as is the attunement process and the science of subtle energies.Complements to Reiki, such as color, sound, crystals, conscious breathing, acupressure, massage, and naturopathy are discussed.The author gives a balanced, realistic idea about what Reiki is and what it can do.There are useful body charts and diagrams, and recommendations for how to practice Reiki according to legalities of your area.My only cautions about this book are that it repeats the mythologized history of Usui's uncovering of Reiki, and that it implies there are no significant hazards of Reiki healing work, and does not guide the practitioner in remaining centered and consciously connected to the Reiki Source as a means of psychic protection.It is presumed that this just happens automatically, which is usually but not always the case.Other than that, I found this book to be a very enlightened approach to educating readers about Reiki.For a compact, affordable guide to Reiki this book is a great investment.

Reiki Clients Will Benefit from this Book
I am not a practitioner of Reiki but a client. As a client, I know that no book can ethically claim to be a "how to" book. Formal training is required. But if you are interested in receiving Reiki treatments, this book will help you feel even more relaxed about the process. Plus it gives wonderful background information for those who wish to pursue training in this area. I've glanced at several Reiki books and this is one of the best. So read, enjoy, and open up to the wonderful possibilities of Reiki!

The Bible on Chronic Fatigue!
This book is a must for all people who suffer with chronic fatigue andfibromyalgia.I read it slowly, trying to absorb each and every suggestionthat was written.

Changed My Life (For the Better)
My boss bought this book for me, and I thought it was going to be just another, "yeah, you have fibromyalgia and it's a real shame, this is how you cope with it", but instead, this book CHANGED MY LIFE!(Sorryfor the run-on sentence).I had so much pain that some days I couldn't getout of bed.I would find a position that was minimally pain free and notmove until I was better.It got so bad that I had to use a cane so I couldget to work.But I read the book and I couldn't believe the casehistories.But when the pain got so bad that I thought I would lose myjob, I changed my diet (hey, what did I have to lose? ) and low and behold,within a week the pain was gone (I stopped taking pain medicine everyday),the "fog" lifted and I felt better than I had in YEARS!Anotherside benefit, is that I have lost weight!But I recommend this book veryhighly.I will also say that my doctors have pooh-poohed these results,but I firmly believe that what we eat, really effects how we feel.I justnever knew how much!
