3-0 out of 5 stars Dangerous!
This book is dangerous!Couple this with Troudeau's scam and you have a society who will substitute the healing powers of herbs for the lab versions of drugs.Allopathic theory of "symptom-Cure" written in the context of alternative health could very well lead to death.Herbs are medicine, the original medicine, and to tout them as miracle "cures" which will invariably cause people, especially Americans, to rush for the "miracle," can be deadly. Noone should be on medicine or medicications for any length of time, and we certainly should be at a more advanced stage by now to recognize that ANY book that suggests miracle cures is written only for profit, not for the knowledge it imparts. Gangi's book, "Forget The Cures, Find The Cause," was written to combat Troudeau's scam.I believe her book should have superceded this one as well.

Finally, someonehas come out with information that the average person can understand. I tell my customers to read this book, so they will get reliable information about natural food supplements and herbs. Hopefully this book will be read by Millions of AMERICANS and they can lay their fears to rest.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solving the puzzle
Laura Stevens provides a much needed road map for parents seeking help for their children with ADHD.By providing step-by-step instructions, sound nutritional knowledge, excellent examples, problem-specific narratives, and good, common sense day-to-day practices (i.e.-recipes), she is eliminating the frustration in the search for answers for current and future parents of children with ADHD.This book provides the type of aid that only could have been given by someone who has had first hand experience in raising children with ADHD.Parents can now learn what to do directly from the book rather than waiting while much of the medical community is playing catch-up to scientific literature.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chelation and other therapies
Maybe if C.M. Abratte read the book: Politics in Healing by Daniel Haley (Former NY State Assemblyman), commented by Berkley Bedell (Former Congressman), and read the Fitzgerald Report by Benedict Fitzgerald of the US Dept. of Justice to the Senate Interstate Commerce Committee 1953, he/she would understand why the so-called scientific studies can't be trusted. It is very eye-opening and enraging reading, which IS BACKED UP BY COURT (of law) DOCUMENTS!!
1-0 out of 5 stars EDTA does not work.
This book is complete nonsense and quackery.Supporters of chelation therapy claim that "numerous" scientific studies have been conducted "proving" the efficacy of EDTA therapy.Anybody with half a brain and the research skills of a 5th grader can tell you that these studies don't exist. What does exist is a mountain of anecdotal evidence that is thrown in our face to distract us from the paucity of hard evidence from clinically controlled randomized studies.
4-0 out of 5 stars Chelaton Reading Resource of the Best
Of the several books and articles I have read about chelation therapy, this one is the best. It is perhaps not for the 101 lesson, as it is a bit more technical, so much so that medical doctors can read it with interest. It has many references to studies and background facts. Its a Bible on Chelation.

This is a fantastic resource for students and the like. It has a great layout, incorporating illnesses and body systems, herbal actions, a materia medica and many other great categories. It is well referenced and uses a wide range of information.

5-0 out of 5 stars Medical Herbalism:great resource
This book was assigned as a part of a Master's Program in Holistic Health. It is comprehensive and overall a great resource book.Hoffmann covers a wide range of topics in depth. In class, we were amazed how one person could write such a voluminous resource. However, if you are looking for specific "recipes" to make, this would not be the book.It will direct you to appropriate plants/herbs to use.I highly recommend this book. You will think twice about common weeds in your yard- all plants have a medicinal use.

This is an exceptionally well-researched and well-written book covering the most common medical problems for women, how to prevent them and how to treat them the natural way.I am particularly impressed with the author'sbroad knowledge of biochemistry, medical conditions and her reliance onhard data from published studies. If you're tired of the side-effects ofchemical drugs you'll find plenty of sound advice and alternative therapiesbacked up by scrupulous research. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This is just a great book.It has helped me understand the origins of Reiki and has enhanced my working knowledge of Reiki. The style is easy to read and is laced with humour.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good source and a fresh new look at Reiki
I would highly recommend any of Petters books. Though I cannot say that I always agree with his opinions, I can say that what5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for beginners and those experienced in Reiki
This is one of the best books on Reiki I have read. Some past reviewers have given negative reviews for reasons that are not true. Recent research has dispelled the traditional history Takata spread about Usui being a Christian and other myths. Frank Arjava Petter was one of the forerunners in seeking the true historical background behind Reiki. This book gives an authentic portrayal of Reiki, its history, and its healing capabilities. Useful techniques are given beyond the average Reiki book. While Reiki is not Qigong per say, it resembles it in many ways and indeed could be termed a "lazy man's Qigong" as the author states. This is one of the most real authors I have ever read on Reiki who says it like it is. He shows himself to be as human as the rest of us and ever striving in spiritual aspiration. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Reiki and as a perfect supplement for those starting with this wonderful healing modality. Coming from a skeptic, Reiki does work and this book will add much richness to your Reiki experience. Wish I could give it more than five stars! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worsley Followers Pay Attention ...
Unschuld is a scholar, a genuine translator that doesn't leave much to the imagination. His understanding of the cultural contexts (as there are many) in which TCM grew are un-matched in terms of written text.Get his books, if not for the honest look he takes at TCM, but for the fact that his works are the bread and butter of TCM.The gross ignorance of the classics among so called "Doctors of TCM" in the western world is amazing.Don't guess about TCM, either learn to read Chinese or get good translations of the classics. Not pocket translations at a American grade five reading level. If we expect people to view us as Doctors, we should study like one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Milestone
This book is a milestone for those of us who wish to understand Chinese medicine. As others have noted, this is not a translation of the Su Wen, but a thorough commentary. I consider it a necessary introduction before attempting to read the translation. Once Unschuld's translation is released, I will feel more prepared to grasp the meaning behind the text. Unschuld is an expert in this field and I'm not sure what a previous reviewer meant by self appointed. I think his experience, education, previous works, and position as director of his academic department speak for themselves! If you wish to go deeper into your understanding of the medicine, buy this book!

3-0 out of 5 stars Lost in the Contradictions of Misunderstanding
Robert Feld is welcome to embrace Unschuld's highly scholarly, hard to read, disjointed text. My primary point is that this is NOT the Nei Jing, it is not the text, it is not readable as such, and it is not a guide for would-be doctors interested in practicing based on Nei Jing. That much should be more clear in the description of the book, but it is not. It should be called "Essays on Nei Jing."Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Color Medicine
It's a well written book, but so it should be, based on all the information that is taken from Dinshahs'initial work on light therapy over 50 years ago.You can get copies of Dinshahs' material "cheap" from their website...Dinshahs' work was well ahead of its time. It's too bad certain organizations are"still" threatened by his work even though it was an array of doctors who had written most of the original testimonials backing up his work."Color Medicine" is mostly Dinshahs' work with some good added info. on the healing powers of sound. It's nice to know a modern book acknowledges Dinshahs' work as opposed to many other "Color" books that don't.

5-0 out of 5 stars Color Medicine
Excellent book. Easy to understand and use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Short and to the point.
This book expains color and it's use for healing. How colors effect us, and how they can be used for the betterment of man. 4-0 out of 5 stars For Your Eyes Only: A Fascinating Look at the Art and Science of Iris Diagnosis, the Diagnosis Method of the New Millennium
The perfect book to begin iridodiagnosis, although it's quite basic.
5-0 out of 5 stars For your Eyes Only
This is a most facinating book, I originally bought it because I had read Franks other book on Bowen therapy and I was really interested in what he had to say. This book is so well written that even an ordinary person like me can understand what he has to say. I was able to get my head round what Frank says within a day and then use the book for reference. This book is not just about iridology (though that is what it is mainly about)but it has a section in it about how the body heals and the stages it goes through to do this. The book is in full colour and with lots of photographic examples and of course the iridology maps. Frank has an egerness to share his knowledge with the world, and through his easy to read style I am sure he will reach and teach every one who reads his work. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Chiropractor cracks the New Age Blame Game
Alternative medicine hits the mainstream as more people integrate and use complementary methods to restore and replenish well-being. The challenge arises when someone uses the new age blame game to force some kind of healing. A common example is when a person diagnosed with cancer is told by some holistic practitioner that they caused it. Maybe yes, maybe no, and this book provides some grounded advice on the matter. Quacks abound in the realm of metaphysical healing and Dr. Epstein offers wisdom to tell genuine assistance from downright silliness. We are repsonsible only for our own behavior and not anyone else. If you are into the whole mind-body scene on well-being this is a great guide to separating myth from fact and staying grounded by keeping yout intellect in place. Many people throw their intellect out the door when entering an intutive phase ... and this is a costly mistake. Dr. Epstein gives a blend of intellect and intuition as he cracks the common myths around healing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent summary of Chinese dietary therapy.
I recommend this book for all my patients. I keep a copy in my waiting room. Diet alone can often solve many health problems. Major topics covered include food allergies, candida and obesity. The author explains the meaning of Chinese medical terminology such as Liver Qi, Stomach Heat, and Kidney Yin deficiency with easy to understand metaphors.
5-0 out of 5 stars Food is life... truly
My journey into Chinese Medicine began with acupuncture.Soon I gravitated towards herbs and TCM in general. Now this book has introduced me to the importance of diet in medicine.Sadly, this aspect is atrociously neglected in western medical science.I had already started incorporating elements of diet therapy into my practice, with success.I then started looking for more instructional material on the subject. I purchased Bob Flaws' book and it has helped me learn new material and reinforce my own personal observations regarding diet. Not only do I heartily recommend this volume, I bought one for a patient of mine who is into organic farming!

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential reading
I attribute much of what I do in practice to this book. The text is very readable and the information is presented clearly. If I were allowed only one book on acupuncture, this would be the one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Scrutable
My interest in oriental medicine is serious and long-standing, although I have not had the chance to study formally at an established school.Ancient texts are seldom available in translation and can be extremely difficult to understand when they are available. Many of the more modern texts are quite dogmatic.Like second-rate cookbooks, they may give varying results for the home cook.Shudo Denmei's book is a wonderful gateway. It gives a very understandable "big picture" view of acupuncture as it developed from its origins to the present time.It gives extremely practical ways for a student to begin both study and early clinical experience.Without translation from theory to actual practice, no such book is worth anything. This book is the most practical I have seen at making this transition to clinical experience possible. So, this is a wonderful place to begin. On the other hand, the author also outlines very clearly at least one respectable path to mastery of the higher complexities of acupuncture practice. The text can, then, guide a person through long stages of improving practice. There are other wonderful books (consider, as an example, Dr. Manaka's book), but I know of no other text that is nearly as helpful or as practical, particularly for a person like me.I have great desire, but I don't catch on easily. Thanks to the author.

1-0 out of 5 stars From the eyes OF a Lakota
I will try and refrain from being too harsh here, however...I feel this needs to be said from someone who actually knows something about these things.(I am Oglala Lakota) First off, if you want to know the TRUTH about Lakota spirituality, don't buy a book from some European out to make a quick buck. This book, as well as his others are filled with pieces from this and that, speculation and cliche' and has little to nothing to do with the truth. (The Lakota people do not, nor ever have had "Shamans") This type of book not only serves to perpetuate the disintigration of our sacred ways, but it also dishes out lies, misconceptions, and other non-truths. I highly suggest that this, and books like it, not be supported so that those who are truly searching, won't have to be loaded down with junk, before they find the true treasure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Learn About Yourself
I was first introduced to this book almost seven years ago.I was immediately intrigued by what I read, and ever since, I have had a vast respect and interest in Native American philosophy and teachings.
1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing...
Mr. Meadows is known for his "Shamanic" genre writing, though this is the first book of his I have read.I wanted to explore some of the history of earth based spirituality, and with that expectation found this book very disappointing.Mr. Meadows paints incredibly huge strokes, covering thousands of years of spiritual life, shoe horning it into the Medicine Wheel, and doing so in the space of 90 pages. He makes statements that begin like Aristotlian proof theorems, and spin into grandiose New Age spiritual idealisms. His descriptions of what "Amerindians" (now I am really getting ill) believed or didn't believe no doubt has Native Americans everywhere rolling on the floor or in their graves.Meadows tries to do way too much and is ill equiped to handle his subject matter, both academically and poetically. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
This book is excellent, which makes me wonder what the heck the last reviewer was thinking. This book doesn't have point location errors...I am a certified acupuncturist and I can assure you this book is not only accurate, but Bruce Pomeranz uses Western methods to validate the use of acupuncture in the mainstream. Many people don't like his "anatomical" method of relating the acu-points, but for Western trained health care professionals, it is much easier to integrate into practice, sell to patients and to explain using science than the traditional Chinese medicine.Let's face it, the Chinese knew what they were talking about 2000 years ago (or more!) but they explained it in a way that made sense to them.Well, we're a bit more scientific now and explaining the results we get with a bit of science may offend some, but it is progress because we are integrating old style wisdom with new understandings.

5-0 out of 5 stars too many errors; not enough substance
This book looks very professionally done, but the content is less than adequate. There are location mistakes on the diagrams, and the information on the individual points is too condensed for any real practical use. ... Read more

Amy has written yet another good book for pet owners. As the trend in natural healing continues, good resources such as this book, The Natural Health Bible for Dogs & Cats, 8 Weeks to a Healthy Dog, and The Allergy Solution for Dogs serve as important sources of information for pet owners. Read this book and start learning how you can work with your doctor to keep your pet happy and healthy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Saving my dog's life
A friend knew how my aging dog, Nina, was quite ill and that my family was not planning a second surgery, as she might not survive the operation and, besides, the mass on her liver had grown back in a year. She gave me a copy of this wonderful book, which gives options for health care.Impressed with the book, I ordered many copies and have given a copy to others who love their dogs and cats and want an option to drugs or surgery. Here it is!Nina's had extra time with her family and I have a new respect for natural healing, for pets and for people. You should buy several copies of "New Choices in Natural Healing for Dogs & Cats", so you may share the love.

5-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put it Down.........
I am in the process of learning about holistic health care for my 2 lhasa apsos and have recently purchased a few books on the subject. I started one book and set it aside to finish later.I picked up "New Choices in Natural Healing for Dogs & Cats" and couldn't put it down until I was finished!I was so impressed with the layout of such a large amount of information. This book is chock-full of great information and it is presented in a terrific format giving the read first the "The Signs" of the condition, then "The Cause" and the "The Solutions".The solutions can be numerous with the author offering different suggestions and not seeming to be biased towards any one particular holistic remedy.Directions are very clear, concise, and easily understood. Some choices mentioned are natural diet (which seems to be the first and obvious step towards better health care for an animal), natural supplements, herbal remedies, vitamins, aroma-therapy, magnet therapy, accupressure with diagrams shown, and of course, recommendations to call your vet to assist in dosage.Although you feel there is alot to learn, the information is broken down so well, it is easy to retain alot of what you read in the first go around with this book. I am sure I will be picking it up time and time again while working to get my dogs in the best possible health. Also included are some behavior problems.I guarantee you will learn some new and valuable information! ...
