5-0 out of 5 stars Great for learning reflexology
This book is well-written and excellent for teaching reflexology. In fact, this book was a helpful reference for the national certification test for therapeutic massage and bodywork. My study group and I also used the following for the national certification exam:5-0 out of 5 stars If you're serious about reflexology, THIS is THE book to own
I agree completely with the previous reviewer. This book is truly "The Definitive Practitioner's Manual" as the title states. And if you plan to practice reflexology professionally, this is THE book toown. It's more costly than most of the other reflexology books available, but well worth the investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most comprehensive reflexology book ever!
This book is concise, clearly written and easy to read. It includes the usual topics covered in reflexology books e.g. what is reflexology, history, how it works, zone theory, etc.Plus it covers areas that few other reflexology books have covered before: setting up a practice, consultation procedures, hand reflexology, ear reflexology and face reflexology.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Everyone should read this book!
If you really want to understand how the body works and is being influenced by our environment you must read this book. What an eye-opener. The author is someone thinking ahead of his time and much of what he predicted has come true.

5-0 out of 5 stars An exceptional book by a doctor ahead of his time
Dr. Becker is a brilliant medical researcher who has devoted his life to the study of something most doctors barely understand that it exists: the body's electrical system.
5-0 out of 5 stars Electromedicine: Putting it on a scientific footing
Dr Robert O Becker is an orthopaedic surgeon who researched cell/limb regeneration and ended up as an expert on the effects of electricity on the body. His work puts a sound scientific basis to the area of electric fields. He quotes dozens of studies which are "sensitive" and brings together various disparate sources into a coherent whole.

3-0 out of 5 stars my least favorite review book
I just got back from taking the NCE, so now I feel I can make a good assessment of how well each of the review books I bought helped me to pass the test. Which I did btw, with high scores. I took the NCBTM test, not the NCBTMB test for those of you who know the difference.
5-0 out of 5 stars Preparation guide
Mosby's Massage Therapy Review Guide gives the reader an opportunity to see if one's ready to take the National Certification Exam by taking tests. The book's practice exams are similiar to the National Certification's test so those who cannot pass the tests in the book or the book's CD, I would suggest to them that they need to study more or take a refresher course. I think this book's tests were very similiar to the questions on the National Certification Exam. Good-luck.
5-0 out of 5 stars Professional massage therapist review opinon
The guide is as it states, a massage therapy REVIEW guide. So the information given helped to trigger the years of study, practice, and then varyifed that the information that I was given by instructors, professors, and texts was correct. If the material is applied correctly there should not be any regrets about buying this book. The material is extensive, but so is the Massage Certification Exam. So, there shouldn't be any surprises. ... Read more

First,
5-0 out of 5 stars An incredibly important work.
I first learned of this book while listening to an audiobook by Wayne W. Dyer. While reading it, I realized it was one of the most important books I would ever be exposed to. The author goes into such amazing detail. This is a must-read for anyone wanting to improve not only their own life but humanity as well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and any other book written by Dr. David R. Hawkins.

2-0 out of 5 stars okay, but overpriced
this is a very good book for introducing body/mind health issues. it covers a lot of territory. only thing is, is the references. the references used in this book are mostly from "pop" magazines such as psychology today, time, u.s. world, readers digest (!), etc. i personally do not consider these publications too legit, but that is my opinion. i got this book through the local library, i would recommend you do the same to see if you want to shell out the big bucks. or get it used, there are a lot of copies for sale.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
This book shows the relationship between the way one thinks and the waythe body feels. It is a very clear and easy to understand book showing theway that certain actions, functions and thoughts can change the way aperson's body feels and the health of the person. I found it veryinteresting and helpful to what I was wondering about. Expensive though. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Holistic Health, but Allopathic in nature
A good book to use as a basic reference for those who believe holistic health is voo-doo or scary, but still a book that calls on the medical profession to define courses they don't understand.A better book on holistic health, and the combined approach of body, mind, and spirit, is "Forget The Cures, Find The Cause," which takes the reader through modalities in the alternative health field, but also incorporates the mind and spirit.

Their dissatisfaction has led many to seek out other forms of health care.5-0 out of 5 stars Thorough yet very accessible guide to alternative medicines.

5-0 out of 5 stars PERSONAL HEALTH 'MAGNUM OPUS' from THE "MASTER GARDENER"
Five Stars!! HEALTH ADVICE GALORE!! Jerry Baker has done it again. On the heels of his great gardening books, this 450 page book is a winner of personal advice, potions, ointments, and practical aids for your body, your mind, and your general health. No GARDENING advice here!!Thisis Jerry Baker's 'Magnum Opus' of tips, tricks, and tonics, old fashioned (and new fashioned) advice for YOUR HEALTH. We all know about Jerry's practical advice and 'tonics' for our garden from his nationally syndicated weekend radio "call-in"show "On The Garden Line", and his PBS gardening specials. We also know that the tonics use practical items found around the house to treat and feed plants and trees, while defeating bugs and plant disease: A garden sprayer loaded with ingredients from "A can of beer, a can of cola, a teaspoon of liquid dish soap, etc, etc..." is almost 'The Weekend Gardening National Anthem' to many of us weekend gardeners. Millions of us also know the "tonics" by heart, read the detailed newsletters, and use his garden equipment because they REALLY WORK. Now he tackles our health. So can we trust a gardener with our health?

4-0 out of 5 stars Classically oriented, yet contemporarily relevant
First off I would like to address a point made earlier by another reviewer who called into question Mr. Ni's background in classical Chinese Medicine by stating that he is not trained in Taiwan.I am not sure where the impression is given that Taiwan is the only place where classical Chinese medicine can be learned, but it is erroneous. Mr. Ni is the product of generations of family physicians and who's father is incidently a classical taoist teacher/master of esteemed lineage, so one may rightly assume his training was very classical.Further, Mr. Ni begins his introduction by stating that he never intended a word for word translation but rather a clinically useful text that conveys the thought and intent of the original text in terms that would be more readily accesible to those who are not scholars of ancient Chinese literature. This he does exceptionally well.I have read every translation (and incidently attempted a few of my own) of this classical text and I feel this is by far the best. While not a translation it is the most clinically useful of all of the texts translated to date.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine
Well translated and easy to understand the concepts for anyone not familiar with chinese medicine and thought.

4-0 out of 5 stars The best we have.
As an graduate student who has worked on translating the Huangdi Neijing Suwen, I have had the opportunity to place this translation side-by side with most of the others currently in print. This is one of the best we have. The Neijing is often arcane and difficult to penetrate because of opaque language, and it is invariably read with a later commentary alongside to assist in understanding. Ni has provided the commentary and translation integrated on the same page. No, this is not a word-for-word translation, but it does capture the gist of the text and explain how it is understood in contemporary clinical settings more effectively than any other English translation currently available. Until there is a critical academic edition of the text, this is probably as good as it gets. Clinicians will probably prefer this over an academic translation anyway as it smoothes out many of the original's rough edges and internal contradictions, and applies the passages to Chinese medical theory as it is understood today. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I Enjoyed it!
I found the different cases that Dr. Johnson discussed to be very enlightening, especially the cases on fibromyalgia. My Mom has suffered with this terrible disease for years.I thought that he really hit the nail on the head when he decribes the fibromyalgia patient in Chapter 8.I only wish I could get my Mom to see Dr. Johnson. She lives in L.A. and Dr. Johnson's office is in WI.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Experience...................
I heard this author on the radio, so I ordered his book because I have suffered with fibromyalgia for the past 6 years.I thought the book gave some good information, so I called Dr. Johnson's office and asked if they could refer me to someone in Boston who could help me.The receptionist told me that someone would get back to me by the end of the day.Later on that afternoon, I received a call from the author himself. He told me that he had a good friend that practices in Boston and that he would help me get in to see him as soon as possible.I have an appointment set up for next week and I am looking forward to feeling better.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book with Good Info
A patient of mine gave me a copy of this book and asked for my opinion. He has been suffering from dizziness for the past seven years.I am a family physician and have referred this patient to numerous specialists over the years.I have never heard of a "chiropractic neurologist", but I found this book to be very informative. In the first two chapters the author explains his path to health after he had suffered from migraine headaches for many years.I enjoyed the case histories in many of the chapters and found some of the treatments interesting. I say "interesting" because I may not agree with all of them.I placed a call to the author to ask specific questions concerning my patient and I was impressed with his grasp of what could be causing the vertigo.I recommended my patient to this author and I will recommend his book to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Two Thumbs Up
I am an actively practicing Osteopathic Family Physician.I incorporate a lot of manipulation and trigger point injections into my practice.I have been studying acupuncture (Traditional Chinese Medicine) now for about six months.TCM acupuncture is difficult for my western trained brain to grab a hold of and to be able to put into practical application.Anatomical Acupuncture is a breath of fresh air. This is a book that I, again as a western trained physician, can immediately grasp and immediately implement in my own clinical practice.I have already begun treating a few select patients based on what I learned in this book and am already seeing postive clinical outcomes.I highly recommend this book to you.You won't be disappointed.Well worth the investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Without the hocus-pocus
Insightful book that attempts to explain acupuncture from a scientific physiologic bent without the hocus-pocus found in a lot of acupuncture books written today.
5-0 out of 5 stars A logical, medical science based approach to acupuncture
As a physician, I have found Dr. Dung's approach offers the most logical and reasonable means of understanding and using acupuncture as a pain relieving modality for everyday clinical practice.A simple review of a bit of gross anatomy (emphasizing the peripheral nervous system) is recommended.Any well motivated and prudent physician can begin using this information fairly rapidly and will soon see that allegiance to "Yin/Yang" theory and other philosophical constructs is unnecessary.Neuromodulation is based on basic science research and is the logical basis of this wonderful (but underutilized) modality.I highly recommend this book to any physician/dentist who has had interest in acupuncture but was turned off by the metaphysical baggage it has carried (until now). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Introduction and reference
This book is brief enough to be used as a handy reference, yet filled with just the right amount of accurate detail to give a complete, concise picture of a subject sometimes obscured by hype. 4-0 out of 5 stars A Clear Explanation of the Traditional Chinese Medicine
This is an excellent book for people deeply interested in understanding true Traditional Oriental Medicine. The book is efficiently designed, the index is excellent, and the writing is clear. Chapter one gives an overview. Then there is a concise explanation of yin-yang theory and the Five Elements. The Organ and Channel systems are well-defined and described in enough detail to give a good comprehensive feel for their inter-relationships. The causes and course of disease is thoughtfully presented. Finally the Methods of Examination and Diagnosis are covered, again with enough detail so that a new student to traditional medicine can, in reading just this one book, have a good basic foundation for pursuing the life-long study of this most profound medicine. On the down side, Oriental Medicine is such a vast field that no one book can give more than a brief overview, or else a deep look into a single area of investigation. Also if you are looking for treatment protocols this book does not have them. And because of the length of the book (only 305 pages) the depth of detail is not great. The book is dedicated to laying out, effectively and efficiently the foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine. And that task has been well done. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Love His Books - Not At All Impressed With This CD
I have many meditation tapes I love, but this isn't one.I love all of his books, so I thought it would be great... but I expected more relaxation and visualization techniques, more hypnosis kind of work in healing. This did nothing for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Calming Approach
Dr. Siegel uses a very calming and relaxing approach to facilitating hope and self-worth to the listener of this CD. The analogies and metaphors are excellent in that he equates being prepared for emotional problems with that of being prepared for environmental disasters. He guidesby use of visualization techniques that require in-depth concertration and dis-association with distractions. His voice is pleasantly pleasing. This makes a marked contribution to the quality of the CD.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good introduction for laypersons
"Principles and Practice of Phytotherapy" is a good general introduction to herbal medicine for laypersons looking to incorporate herbs into their family's healthcare. The authors have concocted a rather obtuse "philosophy" of herbal medicine in an attempt to appropriate and justify the philosophies behind all schools of traditional herbalism. Otherwise this text is straightforward and simple to use. Includes information on 45 useful herbs, a managable amount of information for laypersons just starting out in herbalism.
5-0 out of 5 stars principes and practice of phytotherapy: modern herbal medicine
This book is very neat,it goes well with other books in the field because this book gets very in-depth with each chemical very useful one of the most useful books of my collection. They also add lots of useful examples to bring this information into the present life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Herbology Course Text
Excellent text in use for my adult/graduate classes (including on-line) in herbology.Adequate focus (almost half the text) on history, background, and clinical guides before getting into Materia Medica (full monographs of 45 herbs; I chose 22 of these as class examples).Contains extensive references unmatched in other similar texts. Has useful indexes although text could use a glossary for the numerous medical terms (some not common inU.S. practice). Some important herbs are mentioned in the clinical use guides (e.g., garlic, psyllium) but not treated in monographs. Also some herbs treated are not approved by Commission E or other regulatories (may or may not be important). Overall the best we've seen in clinical herbal texts. ... Read more
