Complete Holistic Dog Book: Home Health Care for Our Canine Companions
Excellent book Well Written. Great format, great philosophy well researched.
A must-have for every serious dog owner!
Fabulous book!!It is packed with information, but easy to understand and apply.I found the book to be very balanced and subjective in it's approach and advice.For example, it fairly presents the pros/cons of different diet approaches, without specifically recommending a "one size fits all" solution.All chapters of the book are valuable, but the section on diet and nutrition is particularly outstanding!Since reading the book, I have adopted a diet of home-cooked meals for my german-shepherd-mutt that is virtually 100% vegetarian!Seeing the way she responded to the new diet has converted many of my friends into believers who were total skeptics of a vegetarian diet.Although my dog was always healthy and happy, the changes are unbelievable in terms of her temperament, appearance and personality.
The one book I reference consistently
I have a variety of books on health for dogs, which I reference often. I noticed lately, however, that I've gone to this book first over and over and often I don't need to look at any of my other books. I usually cross reference material, but I've found valididated information from several other sources in this book so often that I save myself the trouble and just reference this book now.

Not much about hips and spine, but still a good read
While you shouldn't look here for much insight into the relationship between your feet and your hips and spine, it is still a worthy read to understand and address problems with foot function. He discusses the muscles and bones of the feet, shoes that harm, how to choose good shoes, the benefits and evils of foot support, and treatment alternatives. This is not a how-to exercise book, although he does include an exercise or two for stretching.

Pricey, but worth it.
Most textbooks tend to be on the expensive side, but this one is definitely worth the money.The subject matter is presented in a very compassionate & human manner and is not dry reading at all.I highly recommend it to all people interested in bereavement work, as well as for those in the funeral industry, for which the book was intended. ... Caring for Older Adults Holistically3rd ed. by Anderson, Mary Ann (Ed.)

Not in depth
If you are in nursing school your Medical Surgical Class will cover all topics in this book. I did pick up a few pointers, but other than that it was very superficial.

good nursing text book
This book is very easy to understand.It is to-the-point, not bogged down with too much extra info, examples or explanation.The ideas are very well tied to the overall theme of nursing care regarding older adults.I bought this book because it was required for my LPN program's gerontology class, but I just wanted to say that I feel the author did an outstanding job!She even adds some personality here and there, like a good class instructor does. ... A poetics of meditation
I am just beginning graduate study in psychology, but I already consider this to be one of the truly indispensable books in the field. Saki is a brutally honest reporter of his own perceptions and feelings as he engages in the "healing relationship" as he teaches the MBSR program at UMassMed, and takes the reader deep into his view of what it means to "practice the healing arts", and invites us to consider the depth and meaning of our own journey into the field, as well as to begin our own journey into mindfulness. An extraordinarily poetic book about a pragmatic subject!

The Bowen Technique
What a great book! I only wish that it had been available when I was training in the technique over the last few years. That doesn't mean that it will be of no use to those who are qualified. It shows the work in a simple precise way with very clear pictures. It is a wonderful tool for the training therapist in this very gentle hands on therapy. A great reminder of where the moves are to go. I have it on my bookshelf next to my notes, if in doubt I check the book! The pictures remind me of exactly where to work.Read more

Prakriti: Your Ayurvedic Constitution 2nd revised, enlarged edition
The author knows and practices his subject, you can tell by his ease with it. It is easy to read and understand. It is useful information you won't find in many other places, ancient information. It is one of my favorite self-care guides.

Authentic and well-researched.
I used to be a Hare Krishna monk and lived in a temple for two years. During that time, I became familiar Vedic literature and culture, as well as the ancient sanskrit language. Ayurveda is a fascinating subject and this book is a great guide to it's philosphy and practice.
An amazingly good guide to ayurveda
I was given this book by a friend and absolutely found it amazing. If you're new to it or ayurveda seems to mystical to you, this book explains it.The author is a westerner and is able to communicate his knowledge of ayurveda extremely well. Ive read a lot of books on ayurveda this beats every one of them by far (and is way better than the books Ive read by Deepak Chopra), simply because it digs beneath the superficial understanding of ayurveda to why it makes sense scientifically.

Wonderful Handbook
I'm new at reading about energy healing modalities, so I have little to compare it to.I found this book to be a really nice book to learn more about Healing Touch and how to be a practitioner.It has some wonderful stories, some that even made me cry.I still have a long way to go to make this work for me, but it's the beginning of a new awareness in my life.

An excellent, readable, knowledgeable text book that will be referred to again and again. It contains so much information, and is indexed accurately so that you can find the relevant answers quickly.Diagrams are informative and useful. Absoluttely essential resource for any "hands-on" healer.

Dr. Gaynor Evidences His Own Growth and Acceptance
Healing Essence was highly touted and I purachased it; however, I had a feeling that it was missing something - or I was. Now with this book, Dr. Gaynor, like Chopra, seems to be finding the niche of his essence, and he give the reader the right to find their's.That is HEALING! As a nurse, it was amazing what a sachet of dried lavender attached to a pillow,&backrub would do, or a little music box I carried in my pocket to helpneuro patients calm down.That was the 60s. This book shows the expanse ofsound, and that one's body responds to that which it particularly needs. Having had chemo, the horrors of the traditional rows of chairs and people'yapping,' vs what privacy and sound may have done for me brings tears. Just recently, with a new water 'garden,' I placed it in the living room -discomfort overcame me. It took a week to realize I wanted it in my officenear to me.I do not work such long spells any longer.I integratesounds, and relax! There are so many more options I've yet to try thanks toDr. Gaynor.And, so many practicesI'm going to try to change here inAustin, Texas!

Beats Expectations
I began this book thinking it would describe how practitioners can use communication to their help patients heal -- to, as much as is possible, restore patients (or help start them on the path) to health and wellbeing. And it does. What it also does, however, is address the important issue of health practitioners' health and wellbeing. This is important, the author says, because practitioners who are not at peace with themselves cannot help their patients to become so. What makes his take on all this credible is that, as a physician, he well understands and values the training of doctors. He speaks the language. As such, he is able to present his case in a way that is not only convincing, but helpful. If you can't be the king, be a healer
Wise words from a wise man.This book by professor Anton Jayasuriya is a very good introduction to the science of acupuncture.The book is easy to read and contains excellent anatomical channel maps and "landmark" descriptions. Therapeutics is rudimentary but again very useful to the student.Of particular interest is Professor Anton's fondness for Baihue (Du 20).Every patient who attends the Medicina Alternativa clinic in Colombo (Sri Lanka) receives an initial needle to this point, which is reflected in therapeutics.

A real bible on acupuncture...for the medical profession..if
This is a real bible for medical profession, the only thing that may help a lot is if you get a better kind of paper, ...( one needs it for a long period of one's life, maybe years, and will use it very much as consultating book). Any way I, as a medical doctor, see this book as a rare and non usual pearl...in acupuncture for medical doctors, andevery M.D. would help his(her) patients if read a book like this, and will make "miracles" if study in deep this diamond...
