5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best books on herbalism available
The letters "MD" on the cover of a book about 'alternative' medicine are always reassuring. Weiss combines the thoroughness and concern for verifiability one would expect from someone trained in modern medicinewith a refreshing sensitivity to its limits and to the contribution thatmore traditional types of medicine can offer.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Homeopathic Remedies for health professionals and laypeople
Homeopathic remedies (and homeopathic prescriptions from MD) have been my primary healthcare for over 25 years. Of all the books, repertories, and materia medica I have, the "Homeopathic Remedies..." by Buegel, Lewis and Chernin is the one I always turn to first. It gives very clear descriptions of the symptoms which determine which remedy to select.

1-0 out of 5 stars The truth.........
When I am sick, I don't want to wade through this book at all. I had the shock of my life recently.....I had a mild cold and took the standard remedies given by my homeopathic "doctor". I didn't get better and got very sick almost to the point of being in the hospital. Luckily, my family medical doctor treated me and also prescribed a potent Rx. Within 24 hours I felt much better! None of the alternate treatments, herbal medicines and homeopathic medicines worked at all! The bill from the homeopathic "doctor" and all the homeopathic medicines and treatments he gave me was MORE than the visit to a regular MD andFamily medical doctor and his treatments!

5-0 out of 5 stars In response to the comments made by James Ramholz
After reading the review by James Ramholz, I'd like to make a few comments.3-0 out of 5 stars An okay selection with some important cautions.
This book essentially collects herbal formulas that are already in the public domain from other sources. While it presents a nice survey, I feel there are some needed cautions the author should have included for thegeneral public.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Practical and Educational Book for Everyone
"Take Back Your Health", is a practical, thorough and easy to read book that addresses many common health issues. Renee Simon, promotes healthy living by giving us insight on her personal health battles and real case studies. I especially like the "total wellness makeover" approach where she lists the symptoms of her patients before and afterher treatment plan. The last section of the book "Anti- Aging Program for Energy and Vitality" is a wonderful step by step guide to a healthy mind and body. The resource section provides great information on supplement companies, diagnostic laboratories, websites, organizations and special diets. As a Nutritionist, I found this book to be very handy, educational, and resourceful. I highly recommend it to my friends and patients.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very helpful guide and resource for the whole family!
I purchased this book 4 months ago and both my husband and I have used it on several occasions to gather additional information on how to treat and respond to various health questions. My husband wanted to know more about fish oil and it's affects on cholesteral so I pointed to the book.He was very happy with the information he found.I wanted to research childhood Asthma for my brother's son and I found helpful case studies on the topic.I found this book useful and informative, I especially liked reading case studies they were more helpful than reading an experts opinion. I will keep this book as both a tool and a reference in our family library for years to come. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars informative, sometimes biased
I thought this book was informative, especially when it laid out in no uncertain terms the difficulties of becoming pregnant for women over 35.I also feel it has a great deal of information, especially homeopathic remedies which the reader will not find anywhere else.I object to a bias in the book in favor of career professionals. The book explains that women have to work, which may not be the case and does not link enough the obesity epidemic to the mass exodus of women out of the home, to which it is directly related.Poor eating habits and the mass consumption of convenience foods has led to the prevalence of obesity in our society, as has a general lack of respect for what generations of women used to do in the home, prepare healthy meals. While the book does touch on obesity's relationship to infertility, it fails to adequately explore the reasons for this situation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, informative, and optimistic
This book had some great information that I hadn't read in other similar titles. I was most interested in the sections on movement therapies such as yoga and qi gong, although I wish there had been more specific information such as particular yoga poses thatare beneficial. Many times in this book, the reader is told to consult a professional (yoga teacher, naturopath, accupuncturist) rather than being told what they can specifically do on their own. I suppose that is the most prudent course. Still, this book exposed me to some new ideas and I ended up feeling more optimistic than I had before I read it about my chances to conceive. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars An indispensable "go-to" source ......
I have owned the Natural Health Bible for several years and find it to be a reliable source for information regarding herbs, vitamins and supplements. Always answers my questions and keeps me informed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great reference
A good reference book and one of the few I recommend to pet owners who want to learn about natural health care for themselves. This is the text I used and adapted for my own award-winning book. Super job!
5-0 out of 5 stars Fair, concise, clearly explained information
This book has saved me hundreds of dollars, since I always cross-check claims by commercial companies that sell complementary products--and who usually provide artfully deceptive ways to make it appear as though vitamins, herbs, and other supplements are the "answer" to everything from arthritis to herpes zoster. Clearly presented with an impartial and reasoned conclusion regarding the efficacy of a vast number of natural healing consumables. It provides recommended doses when a product is given the thumbs up, and warns against common assumptions many of take for granted owing to media overexposure. When research is presented that purports to support the medicinal qualities of a product, the authors provide a careful analysis of the strength of the reserach, whether its been replicated, and whether other research has been done that has had less stellar findings.A brief history of natural products is provided whether its an herb used for thousands of years or a current fad that is prevalant in other health care systems, particularly in Europe.I do have ONE MAJOR disappointment, however.Where is the UPDATED edition? This book is now six years old; much has happened in the world of conventional and natural medicine in that time, and without such a reference guide it would require endless searching to learn of newer findings. ...
