The Power of Precison and the creation of genius
Although the Patterns books are old books, they explain everything in an understandable and exact way and I do mean exhaustively understandable and exact which is why I like them so much. I bought Patterns 1 in paperback and Patterns 2 in hardcover. But anyhow, showing the exactitudes and subtleties of the use of language in deep-trance hypnosis is genuinely fascinating no matter how long-winded the descriptions and stuff get. Who knows? The way he used language may have been the real beginning of "the subliminal movement". Well very interesting reading nevertheless.
BANDLER AND GRINDER, NOT JUST AUTHORS
Richard Bandler and John Grinder did not just read and study Milton's method of hypnosis, they lived it day in and day out for years.They modeled it, along with Virginia Satir's therapy models, Moshe Feldenkrais movement models and others. This book is their primary work on the structure of Milton's trance inductions and his ability to create successful generative change in his patients.It is a must read for the serious student of hypnosis and a suggested read for everyone willing to work a bit to get to the good stuff.

Sir Cyril Burt achieved unparalleled results in researching the effects of environment and heredity on identical twins.Only after his death did it become clear that the alleged research had never happened, that Burt lied to further what he perceived to be a greater truth.

Feel Good
This tape always makes we feel good. I mean, I really come out of the experience in a good mood. It's like Prozac on a disk, without any side effects.

Working wonders

Great "patter" revitalizer!!!
After 20 years as a hypnotherapist--to much of my induction and suggestion talk had become--automatic.This book has put new energy--new emotion into my sessions.

This second edition of the book is about one third bigger than the original edition.It has all the contents the first book has, plus much more.
Inspiring Scripts
The book has a a variety of inductions, emerging scripts and scripts for dealing with assortment of situations a hypnotherapist may encounter in his practice.Most scripts contain metaphors which may work more effectively in one-on-one practice if they are adapted to the one's that may be more meaningful for the client.Read more

It is what it says
I've studied hypnosis with Stepp, Bandler, and Dobson and read just about every book by Bateson, Haley, Watzlawick,Zeig, Hilgard,Rossi, and Weitzenhoffer as well as the collected works of Milton Erickson....I wish I had found this book early on. It's a great foundation book that everyone who studies and uses hypnosis as a tool should have in their library. Yapko is obviously influenced by the Erickson approach to hypnosis but this doesn't prevent him from providing the alternatives and how they might be appropriately used depending on how the client presents. If you are new to hypnosis YOU NEED TO BUY THIS BOOK.

Excellent Intro text for Hypnosis study
This book is a great text to use for learning about hypnosis or to teach hypnosis to students.It is thorough, covering every significant issue that a typical hypnosis practitioner would deal with, and it presents a careful, balanced examination of many issues that are often misrepresented by either proponents or critics of hypnosis and hypnotherapy.The current edition (3rd) seems very well organized and conceptualized, and is pretty well updated about neuroscience correlates of hypnotic states.Yapko clearly wishes to make hypnosis a well-respected healing practice, and attempts to present hypnosis in a well-developed context that allows readers to see the many potential benefits of using hypnotic techniques as well as the possible hazards of misrepresenting or misapplying hypnosis.This is a well-researched, comprehensive, and well-rounded presentation of hypnosis which should serve many hypnosis practitioners well.It is hard to find a book on hypnosis of this quality, with most books on the topic focusing more on techniques and exalting the power of hypnosis than on addressing the many professional issues and contexts that practitioners will have to work with.The only significant fault in this book I can point out is the title, as Yapko proceeds to explain why he is not happy with the word "trance" as a descriptor for states of consciousness appearing during hypnosis.Perhaps he will decide on a new title the next time this text is updated.Meanwhile, Trancework is a book that sets a high standard for Hypnosis texts. ... Pain and Hypnosis
Although there are many books on hypnosis and to a certain degree a rather long list of works on scripts for hypnotherapy, there are few good works on pain scripts. I was therefore surprised to discover Dr. Marlene E. Hunter, M.D. book entitled "Creative Scripts for Hypnotherapy."
A rare jewel of a book for clinicians and other therapists
Using a wonderful array of metaphors the author outlines various strategies and mechanisms that physicians and other therapists might use to assist patients towards resolving or coping with a wide range of both physical and psychological suffering. The concept that all symptoms are psychosomatic was certainly an insight for me that has contributed enourmously to improving my own communication with patients both in and out of hypnosis. This highly practical guide effectively allows the therapist to adapt the scripts to an enourmous variety of situations.I have found the section on phobias and fears particularly helpful in treating the common needle phobia encountered in my own hospital practice. General Information - Little Depth
The reviews I had read led me to expect great things.Perhaps that is why I was so disappointed.This book is "comprehensive" only in the sense that it briefly mentions many aspects of hypnosis and hypnotherapy.With regard to these mentions, however, I found it to be quite superficial.With only 176 pages prior to the Appendix, not much depth should be expected on any particular topic. Reasonable Modern Book, but contains errors.
This is a fairly good representation of some modern techniques of hypnotherapy, many taken from NLP.It is certainly and by no means a "comprehensive guide" however.It is actually quite a short book.I have identified several factual errors in the book, mainly in the second chapter, the historical section.There are many questionable claims in this part of the book, they are not supported by a single historical reference or quotation.There are also straightforward errors in the account of linguistic terminology contained later in the book. Nevertheless, it is an interesting read and probably worth buying.It is not a great book on the subject, nor is it anywhere near being a comprehensive one. Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Basic to Advanced Techniques for the Professional
Very,very informative book. Well written and easy to follow. This book contains a step by step map of Cal Banyon's 5 Path hypnotherapy regression techniques. Beginning with the pre-talk, and right through the regression it goes on to work with forgiveness of oneself and others and also reviews parts therapy.I enjoyed it so much that I took the regression workshop with Cal Banyon later.

Scripts and strategies
Allen collates both his previous volumes of collected Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy together in this work.Many inductions are included and a few deepeners.Rightly, most of the work is concerned with the business of therapy itself.Many situation-specific ego-strengtheners are included, as well as sections on common issues such as pain management and anxiety.The ever-popular smoking-cessation, fear-management and weight-control receive large chapters of their own which I have found invaluable in my Central-Manchester, Wilmslow and Romiley clinics.

Suprisingly Pleased
I was skeptical at first when I ordered this CD.I never used a hypnosis CD before and wasn't sure it would work.After using it for the first few days, I started to feel a change from within me, and my confidence in certain areas has improved.The voice of Glenn Harrold is relaxing and has the ring of a trusted friend or collegue.I would suggest Glenn Harrold's recordings to those of you who may question using hypnotic recordings.I've purchased his "Financial Abundance" and "Weight Loss" as well.Both are very good.As a certified health and fitness instructor, the Weight Loss recording is nice as well.

Good Ambient sounds terrible voice and accent
I purchased this CD based on the other good reviews. I however could not relax due to the accent and voice of the hypnotheripist. I was amazed that a voice as grating as this one was used on this type of CD. For me it was a total waste of money. If you are sensitive to such issues I suggest you try a different CD.

Best Sleep I've had in years
I have had difficulty sleeping for about two years.I have used this CD for 10 days now and I have had wonderful sleep for each one of them.I listened to it for three nights straight.I didn't need it the fourth night.One night I did wake up and I used it to go back to sleep. I wish I had tried hypnosis sooner.

There are two kinds of insomnia.The first is the one everyone knows about, which is trouble falling sleep.The second kind of insomnia is trouble staying asleep.This means waking in the night or waking up early.

Great
I, too, am deriving assistance in losing weight from this hypnosis CD. I find things I do automatically changing, even the kind of groceries I buy and the way I prepare food, too. Very worth the money. The reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is that his accent is hard to understand at times as he just mangles words, and I found it distracting that I had to kind of wonder what he had just said instead of being able to absorb the message he was trying to deliver. There are some words I just cannot get no matter how many times I listen to this CD. But it's an excellent tool, nevertheless. I would advise him to take elocution lessons, though.

Glenn Harrold is AMAZING1
I was very skeptical at first but after listening to the CD the first time, I could see how it would help. His voice is extremely relaxing and without realizing it, you are in a state of very deep relaxation. He says that you will lose the temptation for "sickly sweet, fattening foods" and it's true. I have used the CD for approx. one month and was recently at a buffet dinner and had absolutely no interest in any of the desserts! This was definitely a first for me! I can't wait to buy more of Glenn Harrold's CD's.

Was skeptical, but willing to try....
I think willing to try this is the key. I found it a little strange at first. But I listened to one session on CD (ther are 2) right before I went to sleep for about a week. I found myself actually making conscious decisions to select a glass of water instead of a candy bar at work when I started to feel tired. I had already realized that I was eating to relieve boredom and to keep awake. If you are willing and open to trying the suggestions, it may well work for you as it does for me. No miracles, mind you, just some help thinking about my choices and choosing slim and healthy as my goal. ... Read more

Hypnotism and the English language
This book may well be a treasure of hypnotic instruction.However I feel it would be a lot better if the writers and EDITOR had bothered to proof read it.There are so many English errors in the book it makes it annoying and difficult to concentrate on the content of the book.
THIS BOOK IS A TREASURE!!
I personally know Tom Silver and have always been impressed with how much information he gives whether just talking to you one on one, or in one of his seminars.He always goes the extra mile.He has done the same thing in this new book that he co-wrote with Ormond McGill.It is loaded with a lot of valuable, useful information and there is something for everyone whether you know nothing at all about hypnosis, are just starting out, or are a seasoned veteran.One could run out of ink trying to highlight all of this information.This is a book to be read over and over again and is a great reference manual.Kudos to Tom and Ormond who once again have been very generous is sharing their many combined years of knowledge.Many people try to keep things to themselves, but not these two.That's a mark of a true professional.Read more

Saved my life
Like anyone else who would be interested in a product like this, I had a fear of flying. I'm 27 and had avoided it all my life until I found out I would have to take not one, but FOUR flights. I already suffer from anxiety so I decided to try this product based on the reviews on here and on Itunes.
Not for Me
I didn't care for it but I only listend to it a couple of times.But whenver I did get the chance to listen I found it a bit annoying and not very relaxing.For me, it was a waste of money.

You're NOT a hypnotherapist if you didn't read parts of this book
I'll be honest with you. I haven't read the whole book. But I know that it is the most important piece ofpaper in hypnosis.

It's helping
I enjoy turning this tape on before I go to bed each night. I feel like it's helping me with my concentration. The voice is pleasant to listen to, and is not too much of a droan. This book's first edition was published in 1981, describing itself as a "comprehensive text...[providing] an up-to-date survey of the available information on child hypnotherapy...a detailed, thorough, andstimulating source of ideas and creative approaches to understandingchidlren and helping them develop their potential to the fullest." Therevised and expanded third edition includes new material, but hasn'tchanged substantially from the first edition - it is hard to improve onperfection.
