What you need for anatomy
This is what you should read for medical school anatomy.I started our reading big Moore and discovered that it is quite wordy and slow to read.Overall not an efficient way to learn or use precious study time.This condensed version contains most of the information in big Moore.It has illustrations, tables, and clinical correlations.I switched my study method to reading this book (baby Moore) from cover to cover and studying it in detail.I then used big Moore as a reference for additional details and would skim big Moore and note things that seemed of possible importance not included in baby Moore.You can then use Netter, Grant, and/or Rohen atlases as a supplement.

Everything in one place!
Great book! It is small and compact (though not light) but I feel like it has everything-- explanations, easy-to-read charts, great diagrams, all in one place. I heard that Big Moore has better explanations but I think Baby Moore does a fine job; all the information is in one concise book.

Just get it
WIth this book and Netter's you will have everything you need in anatomy.This book is also EXCELLENT for your surgery rotation in third year.Older versions are always smarter in anatomy . . . things haven't changed much in anatomy in say . . . a couple million years. ... Read more

Dietary Cancer cure
I'm not a doctor nor a scientist, but I've been studying optimal health and wellness for over 5 years now. Most people seem to have this notion that only medical doctors know what's best for our bodies, but from my research, I beg to differ.
BACK TO NATURE
THE BOOK WAS VERY ENLIGHTENING AND EASY TO READ. IT MADE ME BELIEVE THAT THE BEST WAY TO CURE DISEASES IS PREVENTION.ALSO, BACK TO NATURE....NATURAL PRODUCTS AND NATURAL FOODS.SOUNDS REASONABLE TO ME. I HAVE ALREADY STARTED ON THE FLAX ROUTINE.

Flax Oil As a True Aid Against Arthritis Heart Infrraction Cancer and Other Diseases
I am not a writer or a reviewer, but I am a cancer victim. This book is a series of lectures delivered to her peers over a long career.It's ironic that while most of them are busy peddling other expensive treatments to their patients, they themselves were taking their family members to see Dr. Budwig and follow her advice.2 of my brothers also have cancer.They are using conventional treatments and taking prescribed medications.They are both overweight and not so agile anymore as we are all retired.They both rejected my offers to let them read my books.I on the other hand while being the 2nd oldest at 70 am agile, my weight is same as when I graduated from high school and cancer is shrinking and leaving my body.I excercise daily and can nearly lift my own body weight.My high blood pressure has gone from nearly 240/115 down to in the 145/85 range in about 6 weeks since reading this book and starting the diet, while giving up all other medications.Basically I have gone from a meat eater to a vegetarian and avoid sugar entirely.I eat her spread in the morning and with 2 other meals daily and now feel superb. ... An Excellent Reference Book
This is the only reference book I have and need on Exercise Physiology. Most useful to me are chapters on performance enhacement, high altitude acclimatisation and physical training for seniors. The first few introductory chapters and the first few pages of each chapter remind me of my basic life sciences. The authors then focus on the application of cell biology to training. The thing I like most about this book, is that there is no "guru talk". Every piece of advice is based on currect research.

I am a Personal Training manager with a Physical Education undergraduate degree and Health Preservation and Rehabilitation graduate degree. The Winner!

It's ok
It's an okay book. I needed it for a class. There are several mistakes on the diagrams (our professor noted which ones).

Lots of typos and missing info.
Good study guide when the answers were in the back.Sometimes the answers were off by one or non existent.If you can get past that, it does help, but jeez don't they employ a proofreader?For thirty bucks, I was kind of disappointed.The textbook is great.

Wonderfully Informative Book!!!
WOW! I love this book.Every time I read part of it I learn so much stuff that I never knew before.It is fairly advanced information but it is written in a very understandable way.I am in high school and I like it because it teaches in the same format as my school's biology text books.I use this book because I like to read about this stuff.It is so facinating.If you are in a high school biology class, read this and you will be light years ahead of every one else! ... thoughts about Human Biology: Concepts and Current Issues
This is a great book.It gives a perfect amount of information, not too much, but not too little.I love the pictures and the diagrams.I have the newest edition, 3rd.It's only about 5 pages more than the 2nd edition, so if you need to save money, you won't be missing out on much if you get the 2nd edition.

Excellent Book - Great Clinical Applications
I'm a pre-med who purchased this book for personal interest and to supplement my physiology and biology course materials.It is exceptionally detailed and beautifully illustrated. Its very easy to read and less dry than similar physio books (ie Guytons).I also enjoy the various clinical applications which are incorperated largely throughout the text. Something else to mention is that it has a great chapter on gene expression which is becoming exceedingly important in medicine and the basic sciences.Highly up to date and highly recommended as a reference / learning text.Be warned however that my book's binding came completely loose after a very short period of time and required a little TLC on my part and about $10.00 in 10lb test double sided tape.Its good as new now though!

medical physiology without the medical part
Boron's Medical Physiology represents an attempt to present the subject with a strong emphasis on molecular biology.While the concept is reasonable and the book partly succeeds, the execution has very substantial failings which far outweigh the merits. great medical physiology text!

Can't live without it
This is a great book with most of the surgical approaches that I've come in contact with. It combines concise descriptions of the anatomy with graphics in a nice, easy-to-access way.
Great but very expensive book
I believe all hospital libraries should hold a copy of this excellent book. The price is rather steep for an individual and therein lies my only crib against this book. I had to fork over almost a month's pay to get my copy. On to what I think of the content.
An excellent update to an already invaluable text
Hoppenfeld's new edition incorporates critical subjects such as arthroscopic approaches to the shoulder and knee which have become required skills of today's orthopaedic surgeon. Minor changes to the actual color scheme involving the drawings do not affect the overall content of the text. Owning this title assures you of an excellent resource for years to come. ... Read more

Excellent, Worth the Weight
I am an EMT working on nursing pre-requisites, and I read this book, as well as Anatomy and Physiology for Emergency Care, and Marieb's book on anatomy. This is the best if you take the subject seriously. The large size allows for better graphics, which is important in this field. The text is uniformly excellent. I also like the fact that developmental anatomy (fetal development) is separate, so you can only go to that if you're interested. Lot's of cadaver pics, which are very important in showing that real bodes are not coveniently neon and coordinated colors.
great reference book
This is a great reference book even for resident physicians. I highly recommend having it in your library of medical books.

Why so large?
I am a University of Minnesoota student and we use this text for our introductory Human Anatomy course.(Unfortunately they came out with a new edition and I couldn't sell it back to the bookstore.)Strictly in termsof the content this book was average because I often needed moreinformation on certain aspects of the human anatomy.My real frustrationwas due to the fact that I feel the publisher should have supplied acarrying case specifically designed to carry such a large, awkward book.Irealize that the size contributed to larger pictures but I feel it was abit overboard!Finally, as I mentioned before, a new edition came out veryrecently.The new book resembles the previous edition too much.It'sunfortunate we live in such a capitalistic society as to allow such asituation to take place.. ... Trauma and the Body
This book is very informative and draws on the work of many of the most well-known and learned persons in this field.As a graduate student writing a dissertation on child abuse and its effects on adult survivors this book has proven to be a rich source of information, data, resources, and references.

Essential reading in trauma work
To me this is one of the pioneering books of body-centered psychotherapy.Well-written, insightful with meaningful case examples.It shines, it teaches, and it directs therapist in their work in profound life-changing ways.I work with traumatized children and integrate animal assisted therapy - and this book has been re-read multiple times and applied in my work.
Must Read Material!!

Not the best genetics book out there
This book is ok, but you need a decent understanding of genetics to follow many of the chapters. The authors are very effective at overcomplicating very straight forward concepts, which is frustrating if you're simply trying to review, and even worse if you're trying to learn the info for the first time. Definitely NOT for the genetics beginner. I think you can get a better genetics book for the money.
Get up to speed fast by reading this book
Though I have been interested in molecular genetics for decades, I have been out-of-touch with the excitement in genetics that is percolating out of the huge amount of data coming from various genome sequencing projects.Want to know why there is so much excitement?Then I suggest you read this book.
One of the best and most comprehensive books available on the subject
This book offers an up-to-date view of molecular genetics and the functional laboratroy tools and theories used to address various inherited disorders. The language is very approachable and the book is wonderfully cross-referenced. New developments in various computational fields are addressed and key websites are given for data analysis so that the interested reader can familiarize himself with these tools. visual learners best friend
As a visual learner studying in the science/maths field, and being an English/Arts major, I found this book incredible helpful in making the basic and more complex areas of physiology concrete in my mind. This in turn has helped me do well in my exams. Worth a read if you're interested in physiology.

great physiology teaching and learning aid
This is an excellent aid to understanding physiology.I taught physiology to Frosh this year as part of our introductory series, and used about 6 different textbooks in physiology to teach myself the basics of the subject matter.This coloring book frequently gave the best and most clear description.I recommend it highly as an adjunct to text book material. ...
