Indispensable Reference
We have the 1988 edition of this text - it's been a reliable resource text for almost 18 years!

Rock solid: reliable source
This book is AWESOME! And it does contain plenty of comprehensive information (some say too much?). It has been a reliable friend throughout my second year of RN school for passing exams and continued learning. This Med-Surg book stands far ahead of others (and I have reviewed plenty of them out there). Of course, this is only an opinion, and it might be said that selection of a med-surg book is of an ambiquous nature, with personal preference being the ultimate guide. But I have hated some others, to me this is the most easily understood, question answering, reference teaching guide I own for the sole purpose of occupation.

Excellent overview of cancer biology
This book provides a comprehensive overview of cancer biology. Excellent as introductory text for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate student. Written by a lasker award winner and one of the pioneers of the molecular biological study of cancer. The accompanying CD has intersting supplimentary material especially the videos that add to the utility of the book. The accompanying poster lists the most common interconnected pathways in cancer. Highly readable and uptodate. Highly recommended for purchase.

The State of the Art as it is Known Today.
This textbook, aimed at the advanced undergraduate and graduate biology and medical students covers the basic biology of cancer at the molecular andcellular level. Research into cancer in many different directions has been continuing at an accelerated pace since about World War II. In 1975 a major breakthrough was made by H.E. Varmus and J.M. Bishop on San Francisco. The result has been the creation of the new branch of biology covered by this book.

missing alot of detail....
Wow, I am really suprised this book garnered as much positive feedback as it has. I am a nursing major, and I was apalled at the lack of detail in this book. I ended up using the A&P text from my 201 class for the majority of this class. Maybe it was the questions my instructor asked, but I constanatly had to go to other sources in order to find the information I needed. If anyone finds themself in this situation, Ken Saladin's text by the same name is the best!!!

Best A&P book for nursing majors
This is a required reading text for anatomy and physiology I and II at the college I attend, and I have nothing but praise for the author and illustrators of this book.It is as comprehensive as A&P can get, and as difficult as the material is to learn, it is broken down into systems so that it is not too overwhelming.

THE BOOK IS GOOD BUT THE CD ROM IN NOT IN DEPTH ENOUGH.I WISH THAT IT HAD MORE INTERACTIVE MATERIAL.
Almost Perfect
Leaving asside it's exhorbitant price, this is an excellent text book.The subject is covered clearly and consisely and the charts, photos, and illustrations are clear and bright. The only area that needs improvement in my opinion is the vocabulary, which would be much more usefull if it was presented in the side-bars like it is in many texts.

Essential for A&P Students.

This is, in my opinion THE BOOK for a pathologist dealing with dermatopathology. The writing is clear and crisp and I appreciate the morphologically-oriented classifications, instead of the more common admixture of ethiologic, morphologic and topographic attempts of classification, many of the categories meaning little to the morphologist. ... BURTON ROSE AGAIN IS EXCELLENT
FOR RESIDENT AND FELLOWS AS STAFF TOO, THE FIFTH EDITION OF BURTON ROSE IS EXCELLENT, COVERING BASIC CONCEPTS AS WELL AS ALL THE RECENT RESEARCH MEDICAL NEWS IN FHE FIELDOF FLUID AND ACID BASE PHYSIOLOGY.IT SHOULD BE RECOMENDED FOR PRIVATE AND PUBLIC MEDICAL LIBRARY.

Outstanding text, but consider "The essentials" for a lighter read
No doubt, this is a terrific textbook and is a great resource for Nephrology fellows, ICU fellows and general physiologists.However, for the med student or housestaff who would like to digest the basics of renal electrolyte handling and acid-base homeostasis, I'd like to recommend "Renal Pathophysiology the Essentials" by B.D. Rose and H.G. Rennke (ISBN: 0683073540). It is from 1994 and may lack some of the molecular details, but is an even more "readable" text.

The best in its field
I found this book to be very useful in understanding the subject of acid base and electrolyte disorders. I recommend it for all physicians especially those working in emergency room, intensive and cardiac care units. In fact it is very helpful for all doctors working in the different clinical fields. Excellent Pathophysiology book
This is an excellent pathophysiology book available in the market. I am right now preparing for my step 2 but I wish I would have used this book for my step 1. I have a decent score on my step 1 and I have taken the exam recently and I think if somebody masters this book they can rock the exam. This book gives excellent information regarding many diseases. I am trying to study this book right now with CMDT, which is also by the same author. Because CMDT is a very concise text book of IM it doesn't explain all the pathophysiology for a disease but this book has all the answers about the pathophysiology of a disease. And I think its a worth buying book for all the medical students, if you study this book little by little during preclinical years it will help you very much understand the IM in the clinical years. I was surprize to find some infornation which I was craving for since few years of my med school. You will even find pathophysilogy of very rare syndromes, as for example I was amazed when I read about X linked Hypophosphatemic rickets. If you are like me who wants to have explanation behind everything, get this book today, you wan't be disappointed.

Graduate Nursing Student
I found the book vague and unclear.It was recommended as a "reference" book for a graduate level pathophysiology course and it was the first book I returned.There are several other books on pathophysiology that are on the market for about the same price or a bit more that are MUCH more thorough and useful for undergraduate, graduate or medical student reference.I would NOT recommend this book for anyone looking at any type of indepth medical information. ... A "Must Have"for the Physician's reference library
This text is a very complete reference for all the malformations, disruptions and dysmorphologies which affect the craniomaxillofacial region along with the associated clinical findings.It illustrates the etiologies and clinical findings very well with relevant pictures, and most importantly, the literature references which the authors used for each specific syndrome.

Good for nurses or for any interested layperson
This book gives you a good introduction to pathophysiology without being very technical. Even if you are not a medical professional, you will still grasp the concepts because the author gives simple but adequate definition of the disease and its underlying causes. I am a career switcher (switched to RN) and this book worked for me.

This is a wonderful book.Fluid & Electrolytes is a very complex subject and this book was able to simplify and reiterate important topics. The book went over essential topics such as electrolyte imbalances, acid-base imbalances, fluid shifts and made it interesting to learn all at the same time.I highly recommend this book to nursing students.

I have updated to the new edition
I bought the first edition of this book after transfering from a multisystem ICU to a neuro-surgical ICU. I have found it to be a very Nurse friendly book. I have several resources for neuro, some are very complex.Joanne Hickey has put together information on a very cerebral topic that is for Nurses from novice to expert.

Love neuroscience-get this book!

AMAZING
To put it simply this book is the BEST cardiology book for any medical student wanting to really learn and understand the complex topics that can come up in the field.It breaks down all the topics in simple format and gives you the physiology before each chapter.Not to mention it has all the cardiac pharmacology that you will need to know now, for the boards and then some.
