Needs better editing!
The content is detailed, informative and sometimes repetitive, but please work on the presentation! One would think that by the 7th edition, most of the mistakes in this textbook would have been corrected. I've seen numerous spelling errors and typos, as well as missing figures. This gives it a really unprofessional look, despite all the diagrams and the "easy to read style". The editors should take a course in spelling and typing. If they do not have the time to do so, they should consider spending a few minutes to find out how the spellcheck option works. Proper spelling and grammar are very important, especially for an educational material such as a textbook. Hopefully the eighth edition will turn out to be a bit better.

Dental Assistant
This book is very good. After being a chairside dental assistant for twenty years and on the job training, this is excellent for training someone in from scratch (which I am about to do). It is very detailed in some areas that an assistant does not necessarily use, but answers the mental questions about the Doctors procedures that one might never ask. It also teaches the basics and the in depth information that one would learn and want to refer back to that evening to review. It is a great book to have "before" you begin the job, so once you begin, you can understand the what and the why of the procedure. Very Well Presented
I am currently using this book (the 2nd edition) as a student at Western Career College. The layout is very well presented. There are colorful pictures, tables, etc. for those that learn best visually. But if this isn't how you learn, the writing in it is as good as the pictures. LOVED IT
I had to get this book for school, and I am glad that I had to get it because I used it so much, in every class, referenced it many times for homework assignments and for term papers.

Dr. Wilkins is amazing!
I attended a lecture given by Dr. Wilkins and had my 8th edition text autographed.She is a vivacious, wonderful woman and gave me the refresher I needed.The book is a wonderful part of what it means to be a dental hygienist.To see so many different editions (and so many matching gel pens) carried into the lecture hall was amazing.Truly a book treasured by the prudent dental hygienist.

First modern educational tool in dental health for children.
This is the first book of its kind.It focuses on the dental education of children.It is a complete lesson planner that can be fully integrated in the classroom along with school's other subjects.If children can learn totake care of their teeth the proper way, they can save themselves and theirparents a lot of trouble down the line. What impressed me most about thebook was how much information was in it.People usually go to the dentisttwice a year and they think they are fine. Excellent and very useful
I'm in family medicine and encounter oral pathology on a regular basis. This book can't be beat for the purpose of recognition and diagnosis of oral diseases. Excellent photographs and explanations cover the full gamut of pathology likely to be encountered, and arranged according to useful diagnostic schemes - by type, color, location, etc. Even contains an extensive quiz at the end to test your mastery.
