I have not yet read this book, but I hear it is worth reading.Everyone I know can't stop talking about how they could not put it down once they started reading it.if you like reading books on dental hygene, this isthe one for you.I will write another review as soon as I have read thebook.From what I haaave heard, this book has touched the lives of so manyin the dental hygene profession.The author should be recognizedthroughout the world for her book.I hope that you all will read this bookand write a review.

First modern educational tool in dental health for children.
This is the first book of its kind.It focuses on the dental education of children.It is a complete lesson planner that can be fully integrated in the classroom along with school's other subjects.If children can learn totake care of their teeth the proper way, they can save themselves and theirparents a lot of trouble down the line. What impressed me most about thebook was how much information was in it.People usually go to the dentisttwice a year and they think they are fine. After reading this book, one cansee that people are really not educated at all about proper dental health. This book teaches in terms that everyday people can understand that thereis a proper and simple way to excellent dental health besides going to thedentist.It also gives good background to why the techniques we use todayare so helpful.Even a good dentist does not go into the background or gointo what needs to be done for proper dental health because that is nottheir job.I would not be surprised if many dentists and their assistantsall over the proffession would endorse this piece of educational material.This book should be a common reference material at every dentist office,school, and home. ... Excellent,Integrative, Comprehensive & Current
I am a second year dental student and find this book to be comprehensive in its theoretical approach and practice of preventive dentistry in private and public health sectors. A university level background in chemistry, microbiology,biochemistry and dental materials are necessary to understand some of the more advanced concepts.

Took entirely to long to get book!!
I purchased the book Aug.28. Why should I have to pay for 2-3 day shipping when I just got the book 1 week ago!! I will never order from Amazon again. The only positive thing about it was the book was in the shape described.

Very worth the money
I found the sample questions and rationales invaluable on the national board (passed in the hight 90's), yes the chapters are long and dry, but if you only do the tests, you WILL get you money's worth.We are here tolearn are we not?

What you must know about dental health!
A wonderfully concise book that challenges the misconceptions of the public regarding dental health.While the dental associations continue to shroud the truth, it is fantastic to know that there are dentists out there who are keeping up the fight to expose the profession with regard to its lies about fluoride and amalgam(MERCURY!)fillings.The dental associations also go out of their way to conceal the fact that cavities and jaw deformities are the direct results of inadequate nutrition.No-one need have another filling!This book is a good follow-on from the ideas first put forth by Dr Weston Price ('Nutrition and Physical Degeneracy') in the 1930s.A must read for parents, dentists, and everyone else!

Our dental health bible
This book delivers what it claims to do: our whole family has achieved better dental hygiene and health through Dr.Kennedy's recommendations! Foremost, it gave us hope and confidence that we as patients can do a lotfor our dental health. The book contains very detailed advice on dentalhygiene (including that for children and people with gingevitis) and offersdetailed explanation of various treatments for major dental ailments - witha stress on holistic practice (and its difference from the old-school one).Without it, my children would have had mercury amalgams; my mother wouldhave gone through unnecessary surgery for her gingevitis and I would havereceived a major dental treatment on my amalgam-laden teeth duringpregnancy! Thanks to the book (and its fantastic reference section) we havefound a holistic dentist who helped my mother non-surgically fight hergingevitis and who advises us on every aspect of dental health, ensuringthat we have the most gentle treatment and minimal intervention and relylargely on self-help measures. This book continues to help us and numerousother people! It is #1 in our health library.

Good overview for hygiene students
This book provides a comprehensive overview of health conditions and dental implications.Of particular usefulness to hygiene students studying for the National Board, are the multiple choice questions & case studies.The beginning of each section also lists definitions.Although it is comprehensive, it would be better if it included a bit more detail.Example: mentions Tetralogy of Fallot but does not define/describe.There are other areas that could have been more in depth or more detailed.

An excellent compilation of documents on dental ergonomics.
Denise Murphy has done a wonderful service for those in the field of dentistry by her efforts in assembling the documents in this book.She has called on nearly all those currently recognized for their contributions tothe understanding of ergonomics in dentistry.The extensive bibliographiesare an aid for anyone researching a study of this subject.If you want toget a handle on dental ergonomics, read this book.

Excellent Layout, useful CD
This review book covers all the stuff you need to know for the DH boards in an uncluttered visual fashion.Sure, you've read it all elsewhere, and you most certainly have most of the information in textbooks or buried in class notes. But even if you have one review book already, this one is helpful for the layout alone.Mosby's and Saunders have their merits, but the uncluttered nature of this book is what makes it shine. The material is presented in short, bullet type and chart typeentries without long winded paragraphs of explanation. The lack of explanatory material will necessitate at least one other review source however. (Five stars for acheiving what it sets out to do.)
