One of the Four Horsemen
I read this book when it first came out and lost it when a friend didn't return it. This a fascinating book and since it was first published SARS and Bird Flu has entered our world.If you are prone to panic attacks or nightmares don't read this book because the author did a fantastic job at research and has revealed our future and the diseases that will alter it.

Superb research
This book is superb for a number of reasons but the meticulous research behind it really stands out. There is not an idea or suggested proposition that is not referenced to one - and sometimes - mulitple sources. The tentive conclusions that are laid out are suggested only after exhaustive research and tightlylogical arguments.
BUREAUCRATIC BUNGLING AND POLITICAL CORRECTNESS
I began to read this book with hope it would be a good one.I figured it might cover the science of a new epidemic, or its social consequences.Or perhaps it would focus on historical plagues, giving us a glimpse of what the future has in store.Different diseases could be compared and contrasted.

Sad
Unfortunately we lost Dr. Merroitt. G. Wagner has stepped up and authored the ninth edition of Practical electrocardiography. The book hits the basics - THere are a plethorea of books addressing the basics. Historically I would turn to Marriott (or Leo Schameroff - no longer in print) for help with the in depth analysis.The 9th edition falls short - giving narrative examples and referrencing non existent ecg strips - This book is missing several examples of ECG tracings and is a sad tribute to a great electrocardiographer, may he rest in peace.

The Standard Text
Given that electrocardiography is a difficult subject to begin to understand, Wagner has continued the excellent work of Dr. Marriott by updating and expanding on the classic text.

Still a work in progress
This book starts with a great foundation, but sadly does very little beyond that.This edition, like the 9th, does provide useful material, even if it is recycled.But, it does little to capture the attention of the reader and hold it throughout the text.Readers of 8th and earlier editions will be disappointed at the readability.Beginners might be better served by passing over this text and trying to bribe someone into selling their 8th edition.The last by Marriott himself, standing the test of time! ... Hives: The Road to Diagnosis and Treatment of Urticaria
Urticaria hives have plagued me for nearly 3 years.Many visits to a Dermatologist and an Allergist plus numerous blood work-ups have not been of any help. Dr. Wanderer's book "Hives: The Road to Diagnosis and Treatment of Urticaria" has been very beneficial in my understanding of Urticaria and has shown me what steps to take in an attempt to pinpoint the cause.I highly recommend this book to anyone who has Urticaria.It may not help you find the cause but it will help you understand what you are faced with.It is my belief that this book should be recommended by all Doctors to people with Urticaria.

Wonderfully validating and great reference material!
I have been a chronic urticaria sufferer for 5 1/2 years and have been on Prednisone for the last 4 1/2 years.My doctor ordered the book after my recommendation and we are using it together to try new medications and therapies.Thank you Dr. Wanderer!

Very helpful for a CU sufferer like myself
Should have gotten this book way before wasting so much time, energy, fraustration, and money on all the different doctors/medications/injections...etc. it is too bad Dr. Wanderer is not in Los Angeles otherwise I would love to see him also refer him to others ... Read more

Just the right amount of info
Great little reference book.I am a FNP, and this is exactly the lecture I had wished I had on chest x-rays boiled to one simple readable book.Good for anyone just learning about them, and enough info to make you competant.Anything past this, ask a radiologist.

This little book starts off by actually teaching you HOW to read a CXR. Not many books do that ... they just assume that you can. Then it goes into the four broad categories of abnormalities: 1) too white, 2) too black, 3) too large and 4) in the wrong place which helps you to categorise abnormalities. Then all the major conditions (e.g. pneumonia, COPD, malignancies etc.) are reviewed under each category. Read this before you start you clinical years and keep it in your coat pocket along with 'The ECG made easy'. Look at heaps of CXRs and ECGs from the beginning of the year along with the help of these books. Practice makes perfect! Good luck! I wish someone had told me these things at the beginning of the year! ;)

ECG Made Easy
The book is a comprehensive and easy read of ECGs.It has good exercises at the end to prepare for exams.

Best of the lot
I own many ECG books, including Taigman's Advanced Cardiology, Brady's Basic Arrhythmias, and Grauer's ACLS Arrhythmia Interpretation.This book is the best of the lot.Although all the books claim to simplify the understanding of ECG's, Aehlert actually does it.

An awsome resource for students
This book is an excellent resource for any student of a medical profession in which you're required to read EKG's. I'm currently in medic school and found that out of about 4 books that this one is best. The terminology is easy to understand. If you can't understand the information this book provides, it may be best not to try. I found the section on page 226 and 227 that gives a list of cardiac drugs, uses, and effects to be very helpful. I like that they give you several strips at the end of each chapter to try and identify as well as a post test and then provide you the answers in the back of the book. I also like that they have a chapter just on 12 lead interpretations. So if you're wondering if it is worth it i would say definitely. ... Read more

An Excellent Primer.....
This thin volume is an excellent primer for a fellow who is beginning training in cardiovascular medicine.Of course, as one advances in training textbooks written by Otto & by Feigenbaum will provide more intricate details in echocardiography.This succinct book is a good point of departure for the new fellow during the beginning of the academic year.It also fits in the white coat pocket.In fact, I've just completed my first year of training and I still refer to this tome periodically.

Bypassing Bypass
A very cogent, scholarly, current and relevant book. It helped me to make a critical decision to not undergo bypass surgery as recommended by my doctors.If you are forced to make the same decision, you must read this book before you decide.

Learning the truth
In 1974 as a senior at Kansas State College, finishing up my degree in Biology/Chemistry I chose for my senior research project "Cadmium poisoning in Blue Green Algae". In this study I learned, first hand, the value EDTA can have on living systems. Plant mitochondria and animal mitochondria operate in exactly the same way, producing energy for living systems. It happens that in the most fundamental "engine" of our bodies, the Krebs Cycle, living systems, both plant and animal, are vulnerable to heavy metal poisoning.
A MUST READ
This book is about the Chelation Therapy prcoess, but even more so, it is about how our bodies process elements from what we eat, and how we live our life and how the body processes substances, especially all the toxins that we comsume without even knowing it. There is alot of good statistical and medical information. And, why don't the vascular and cardiac specialists recommend this treatment in the cases where it could be very appropriate and life saving (as in the case of my mother which Chelation did save her from leg amputation!)?This book goes into some of the possible political reasons on the hush hush and widespread misconceptions about chelation practice.It is definiely a MUST READ. ...
