You will need!
I spent a lot of money in shipping cost's finding a good ECG book! Nothing impressive about this book, which is why I sent it back. Don't be fooled by the title! You will to find another book if you want to understand ECG's.

Great Review Book
My initial exposure to EKGs was via Dubin.That was a great starter.But a couple of months later, I had to relearn everything again and this book really helped.Each chapter is divided into subheadings.Each subheading gives you the big picture.Then the whole chapter concludes with a recap: an EKG for each subheading.It was great.I checked it out from my library and did not buy it (if youcan, I suggest you buy it).Happy learning!

The Best EKG Book Around!
I'm a medical student, and this is the best EKG book I've found for learing EKGs relevant for students.Probably all you need for med school exams are heart blocks and MIs, but this book has all the major stuff, bundle branch/fasicular/hemi -blocks, SVTs, etc.The best part about this book is that its NOT just pattern recognition like other EKG books.It tells you why a rhythm is narrow vs wide, what's actually going on in that re-entrant rhythm, why that block looks the way it does by relating it to what's actually going on with the current, which makes you remember it better.Basically, if you just want to memorize some shapes, go use Dubin.But if you want to understand why EKGs make the patterns they do for various pathologies, then you MUST buy this book. ... Excellent Resource
This book takes electrophysiology and breaks it down into manageable bites. I first bought this book when I took ACLS as a new grad and was scared to death of having to differentiate between Mobitz 1 and 2, etc...I also like using it with patients for the illustrations when trying to explain what "those strange blips on the monitor" mean.

Not "Incredibly Easy"!!
While this book advertises that it will make ECG interpretation "easy", it does provide the proper graphics to make this possible.The first few chapters of the book are accessible and the end of chapter quizzes are helpful.However, once you get to Chapter 3"Interpreting a Rhythm Strip", the strips are impossible to interpret due the small size of the strips!You need to be able to count the boxes to interpret the rhythms and this is virtually impossible, unless you have a large magnifying glass!I thought this might be one occurrence in the book, but it is throughout, making interpretation of strips near impossible!As a novice ECG person, this is not something that I would have looked for before purchasing the book.Other ECG interpretation books have much better graphics of the strips, making interpretation (while still not "easy") doable, and not frustrating!

Fields Virology
The book pictured on this site is the Fourth Edition of Fields Virology.However, the "Book Description" in the "Editiorial Reviews" section on this site is for the Third Edition of Fields Virology.I hesitate to purchase the book because I am unsure which edition you will be shipping.Before I place my order, I want assurance that I will be receiving the Fourth Edition.

Best out there for MAMMALIAN virology
My take on this two-volume set is that if you are going to put out as much money as this set costs, you should get a lot for it.This two- volume set is simply the best I have found for MAMMALIAN virology, with a close second being 'Fundamental Virology'.I stress the mammalian virology, as it omits a good bit (if not all) of the plant- associated virii.The basics of all virus structure are in there, regarding plant virii, but beyond that, there is information lacking.Despite this, when purchased as a graduate-level or upper-undergraduate level text or reference guide, there simply is no other text of this scale.There is a lot more text than graphics, but this does not (in my opinion) deter from the value of the text.If I could, I'd give a 4.5 star of 5, only for the lack of plant virii information and my personal desire for more graphics.i will say that the CD-Rom has more than enough graphics to make up for the book's seeming lack of graphics.As a 'financially- burdened' Pathology trainee and Virologist by employment, I will say that this is worth the price and effort to read.Note that it is written to the biologist who has some knowledge, albeit foundational knowledge, of biology.

A FINE VIROLOGY YARDSTICK
There is hardly any significant fact about viruses that missed-out in this edition of "Fields Virology". Page after page, this sound all-inclusive reference doles out authoritative information on both viruses and viral syndromes. From taxonomy to etiology, metamorphosis to replication; the analyses of this text is grand. The same applies to its attached CD-ROM. Its practical outlook was intended to benefit both microbiologists and pathologists. Bernard Fields and his colleagues made their mark with this book. It is a great effort.Read more

Pictures are pretty bad
I am a medical student and I want to dis-recommend this book, especially to medical students.What makes a biology textbook good in my opinion is above all the quality of the pictures.And since the pictures in this book are poorly designed and poorly laid out, I can only dis-recommend it.

A book that is continuously updated
An amazing book.I came to know it by being a student in the class that the authors teach at UC Irvine--AIDS Fundamentals (by far the most informative and interesting class I have ever taken). I read the second edition, originally--the great thing about this book is that it is consistantly updated textbook--if you read each edition as it appears, you keep up with the developments. This is a book to be read over and over.

finally a good one
A Practical Approach to Cardiac Anesthesia 3rd edition was a required text for me.However, I was delighted to discover its readability.Information is well organized and concise, yet packed w/ as much detail as you can take.I was greatful to not have to rake thru "fluff" in search of useful, comprehensible information.Good for any health professionalinterested in cardiac surgery and anesthesia.

This book is a must for all anesthesiology residents.

an authoratative text
the second edition of the manual is the work of three big maestros. the first chapter is an overview which is about man and machine. thereafter follow chapters on acquisition of images, transthoracic and trans esophageal. the two chapters on hemodynamic assessment and vulvular heart diseases are astonishingly lucid. other chapters are fundamentally excellent.the book concludes on an all importantchapter on correlative echocardiography.in toto, this manual is small in size but large in authority. As an STD Patient Advocate and as a person living with herpes, I have personally handed copies of this book to several people who have been diagnosed with herpes.

This book is awful.The name should be called should be called "Sugar Coating the Bitter Pill of Herpes" or "Herpes; Your Sex Life Does Not Have to Change at All"If you have herpes one should not have unprotected sex outside of marriage.This book does not endorse this practice.I realy don't understand how the so called M.D.'s that wrote this book can live with the fact that every other page of this book does not say "If you have herpes do not have unprotected sex!!!!". The woman who gave me herpes said there were risks but I did not have to wear a condom.This book is filled with similar propoganda. Her excusses must have come straight out of this book."..it can be recesive for along time, you may have already had it..", "..at least I told you, and I was not maliscious..".If you care about not spreading herpes, this is book is not to be read. ... I am no longer sick and dehydrated
This book is a great value to anyone who does not understand the value thata glass water can change your life. I have expirienced physical change in body and mental clarity from a water hydration challange. A must have libray book for those serious about no longer being sick and tired. For the price of one bottle of aspirin Dr. Batmanghelidj can give you information for a liftime of enjoyment. Water is what our body cries for and you should know how to listen to its needs before its to late.

A missing key to health
After reading this book many years ago I developed the habit of drinking 2 liters of water a day. What a difference this makes in health. I have only been sick 3 times in the past 6 years. Yes, I follow other healthy habits, but drinking adequate water is the starting point. This books explains why dehydration causes many of our modern illnesses and how much water to drink for your body weight. Excellent information on effective, inexpensive, nonaddictive, safe, nonsurgical pain control
Unfortunately, many effective, less expensive, safe pain treatments receive almost no advertising, since they are not very profitable for manufacturers or practitioners. FDA approval for a new treatment or procedure usually requires clinical trials costing at least $[...]. Naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, hormones and herbs are not patentable, unless the natural molecule is altered or a new delivery system is developed. Insurers seldom pay for treatments and procedures, which are not FDA approved. Universities and medical schools rely heavily on financial support from pharmaceutical manufacturers.Most effective inexpensive remedies will never receive the expensive newspaper, magazine, radio and television publicity, which more expensive patented prescription medications receive. Many of our patients have had numerous endoscopies and scans, costing thousands of dollars, which did not provide as much useful diagnostic or treatment information as the reader can obtain from reading this book. Teitelbaum's protocols and concepts have been especially effective with our migraine sufferers, many of whom have reduced their migraine pain, 96 to 98 percent, without using any painkillers. Thanks to this book and compounding pharmacists, we have been able to formulate prescription pain creams which relieve 90 to 100 percent of fibromyalgia pain, in our patients, with virtually no side effects and no addiction risk. We have successfully eliminated numerous restless leg syndromes, chronic fatigue syndromes and irritible bowel syndromes, using information contained in this book. The colchicine infusions he recommends eliminated 100% of herniated lumbar disc pain, in one of our patients. The herbal gastritis and reflux protocols have worked for almost every patient we have treated with them. The attention he gives to effective and inexpensive, over the counter and generic medication is especially refreshing, when pharmaceutical manufacturers and physicians seem focused on the most expensive medications and procedures. The book integrates pharmaceutical,over the counter,nutritional, hormonal and herbal treatments. I have had the pleasure of listening to Dr. Teitelbaum, in person, at one of the lectures, he gives free of charge. I have had the additional pleasure of interviewing him twice on our voiceamerica.com internet radio show. His humility continues to amaze me. He recommended that patients continue his herbal pain formula, cautioning that six weeks might be required to experience improvement, when it took away someone's herniated lumbar disc pain, in a couple hours and has kept it away. It reduced my old ski injury pain fifty percent, in about an hour. (I had a morphine injection once for it, when it flared so intensely, I could not walk.) His herbal pain formula also worked safely for one of our fibromyalgia patients, who had gastritis He donates all royalties from his nutritional formulas to charity. A complete and valuable tool
