Dry info about an interesting subject
This book was written by one of the best in the cardiac pacing field. The only problem is his dry and wordy compilation of cardiac pacing.

Good, but a bit wordy at times
I purchased this book to assist me in cardiovascular schooling and found it to be a great book for gaining an understanding of the principles of pacemaker therapy.At times though, the text is a bit wordy and dry.However, I find it very useful for reading up on anything from the indications for both temporary and permament devices to post-implantation evaluation, complications, and interventions.Unfortunately, with the rapidly changing world of pacemaker therapy, this book may soon find itself obsolete.Hope for an updated edition.

If you're aging prematurely, getting fatter, feeling sluggish, and watching your blood pressure and cholesterol sneak upwards, you may have "Syndrome X," claim the authors, who say that up to 60 million North Americans have it. "Syndrome X is primarily a nutritional disease caused by eating the wrong foods," they write. The mysterious-sounding "Syndrome X" refers to a group of health problems including insulin resistance ("the inability to properly deal with dietary carbohydrates such as sugars"), plus at least one additional problem, such as abnormal blood fats (elevated cholesterol or triglycerides), overweight, and/or high blood pressure. Insulin resistance is "a diet-caused hormonal logjam that interferes with your body's ability to efficiently burn the food you eat." According to the authors, you probably have this problem, and if you do, eating processed carbohydrates are the root of it. Pastries, pastas, breakfast cereals, soft drinks--these refined carbos are the enemy. The book warns you that you probably suffer from insulin resistance (please get a blood test instead of relying on the admittedly unscientific questionnaire in the book, which makes everyone suspect who eats cereal or drinks fruit juice). Then the authors jump on the high-protein, low carb bandwagon. You can eat three eggs for breakfast, roast duck for lunch, and salmon for dinner, and snack on chicken slices.Read more

5 stars on all the info re: the disease as it explains in plain language what havoc in your body gets started with any of the inter-related metabolic functions getting tipped off balance.

This is an informative, non-preachy, explanation that is both correct and yet written in an interesting manner.It also does not try to sell anything but the facts.Very interesting.

Save your money - buy Bergey's manual
The book begins with a decent 6 page chapter on the "Initial Stages to the Identification of a Bacterial Culture," then has a condensed version of Bergey's manual, which theoretically could allow identification to the species level, provided the information is correct and complete.I got this book yesterday, and found an error on the first thing I looked up. (in table 7.1 - Streptomyces does produce aerial hyphae.)Read more

The Whole Enchilada
Dr. Bockian leaves nothing out of this very useful aid to BPD. Starting with a penetrating description of BPD, the book then provides information on diagnosis, various therapies and treatments and how and where to find help. It offers plenty of information which can bring hope and understanding for people who must deal with BPD.

Very concise...wonderful!
I have read other books on Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), but I think that this is the best one yet!
Important Information
As I was searching for a book on BPD, I found it astonishingly difficult to understand the books nature without actually buying it and reading it, which makes the whole "searching and inquiring previously to purchase" almost impossible.

A family guide
Having recently had a loved one who has suffered a devastating stroke, this book was so helpful in every aspect of what to expect on this very long journey to recovery.It was easy to read and to understand and I would highly recommend it to any family or caregiver who is going through this process with a loved one.

superb book
I read roughly three "health" books per week.It is my hobby.All of the books by Steve Sinatra are excellent, but so far, in my mind, this is the best!Dr. Sinatra writes clearly and succinctly.He is easy to understand.And, after reading a "gillion" health books, I think his answers to some of the problems addressed in the book are light years better than those presented elsewhere.This is a must read!

A Technical Read
After hearing Dr. Sinatra on NPR, I immediately ordered this book. Unfortunately for me, it is packed with so much technicalinformation I found it difficult and a little boring to read.

A helpful book for both patients and professionals
"You'll just have to learn to live with it." That's what many patients hear when there is nothing else that can be medically done to alleviate their pain. Physician assistant student
This is a great book.I love how it isn't just about the drugs, but gives background on the diagnosis that you are treating.I think it is layed out well, and find it very useful.I notice a lot of pharm students are reviewing this but I think it is good for practitioner's as well.However, don't think this will fit in your labcoat pocket, it could but it is sorta heavy.

Uhhh
First off, I think the author forgot to mention that Rife is apparently God of universe in his book, or at least thats the way he is portrayed.Second, why should I have to plunk down 4000 bucks to prove this radio can heal me, maybe you should try showing a couple of people through some free trials.Who is going to support some quack job by giving them $4000 only to find out that it doesnt work?

Who is this character, Peter Bowditch (from below, no pun intended)?He seems to be talking directly from his armchair, out through his colon.I live, work, breath, and dream within the health-care industry.I have a good feel for this game and its sordid history.I can somewhat grasp the ENORMOUS amounts of money AND personal reputations (ie. ego) at stake.The politics of it all are staggering and simply sickening (figuretively and literally).Enough is enough.I have seen the results from Rife and many other "natural" applications.Even vitamin C, for pete's sake, is an excellent remedy for many things and is supported by shockingly good, "gold standard" scientific studies, many of which date to the 1940s and 50s.Once one can get over the enormity and the obvious implications of the "conspiracy" (I don't use that word lightly here) of modern health-care, then one is logically drawn to ideas and approaches such as Rife's and others.You say you don't "believe" the science and/or physics and/or biochemistry and/or energy behind any of the alternative approaches??Well, pull your head out of your colon and roll up your sleeves Mr. Skeptic, or better yet, put up the money and experiment for yourself because I am fully confident the results will be there, with or without your institutionalised beliefs.This book is a good, honest account of what kind of therapies exist to treat the human condition, which in many ways has been totally compromised by mainstream health-care.As I final note, my vast experience with the ridiculous naysayers has taught me that they all seem to use very similar vernacular for expressing their criticisms of alternative health-care, and these words are almost always:pseudoscience, quack, quackery, cult, voodoo, and anecdotal.Simply coincidence?Seeing these words will almost always alert you to the critic's closed and narrow mindset.Let's hope that no one close to Peter Bowditch gets critically ill because the danger of HIS words will become most apparent. ...
