With this volume Dr. Valji has produced THE book introducing vascularimaging, covering in a short, comprehensible but also very exhaustivevolume the basics of vascular access, devices, techniques and othernecessary bits of knowledge.To my knowledge, this is the first volumecovering introductory vascular imaging and technique. careless errors, mediocre conclusion
By claiming "social reform," Farmer contradicts his stance as an American citizen: Haiti has no money to support its own citizens, that's why the US and others are doing Haiti's job. But, the US has to care for its own citizens as well therefore has to first work on its own AIDS patients within its boundary. If the US does that as its social reform, Haiti instantly dries up.
Medical-anthropological approach to HIV & TB illuminates roles of inequality and poverty in spread of disease
Farmer, a physician-anthropologist and activist, examines both the way that poverty and inequality result in the spread of HIV and TB today and the flawed justifications for inequitable access to treatment. His ethnographic analysis provides a powerful complement to standard epidemiological work, and this treatise on the danger as well as the immorality of inequity in medical care is largely convincing.
Wonderful etiological analysis, but unfounded conclusions.
Anyone in the public health arena has heard (or even read) of Paul Farmer. The Harvard MD/PhD (Anthropolgy) is indeed a passionate and competant professional who has fresh drive and leads a commendable life in service to humanity. This book seems to be his most popular work (at least on campus of major public health colleges) and it deserves attention and analysis.

Very easy read
From Ion channels in the molecular Genetics of the arrhythmia to the moment you push a patients face in a bucket of ice to convert them, good stuff. So little is still known about AvNode Rentrant tachycardia, Atrial flutter, classic WPW, etc. that it's highly refreshing to see a text like this. We know about Long QT syndrome and the specific genes responsible for this, mostly, and now the ones that have been identified for WPW, but there is so much more to understand. Did the open heart cryoblations hold fast, years later? What are the lasting effects of radiofrequency ablations? We are still experimental in our understanding, yet so advanced. Pacemakers, ICD's, and proper conversion methods for each arrhythmia, the dreaded Adenocard, etc. so much to do and learn, still.

Excellent Book for Medical Subspecialists
This is probably the best reference work in this area, of what's available in print, book format.

Very informative but...
Any text like this should employ a panel of those who have actually had cardiac surgery. I felt it missed a bit of that point of view that would help smooth out the patient care, such as the customary protocol of quickly pulling out lead wires 7 days after surgery when tissue has had time to secure them to the heart tissue. The peritoneal tube removal is not even that bad. Something's just not right about some of the things, although I appreciate the detailed clinical view and have great confidence in those procedures to keep the patient well and alive.

One of the best!
I own literally dozens of books on ADHD and have read dozens more.This slim book (only about 125 pages) is absolutely one of the best.I ordered it on the recommendation of a friend and when it arrived I was disappointed to see such a thin book.How could it add anything I didn't already know?Well, it did!It sums up the latest in scientific approaches to ADHD, de-bunks the myths and presents it all as clearly and concisely as I have ever seen.An excellent investment!

Interventional procedures for the body imager as well as interventionalist.
This book is weighted towards the interventional radiologist however topics and procedures for body imagers/general radiologists would also benefit.Each procedure is covered in detail from indication, preparation, procedure, complications and post procedure information.Also covered is relavent pharmacology for the radiologist including managing contrast reactions.The size is small enough for a jacket pocket and the text is clear and concise.

Every nurse working in Interventional Radiology should have this book. Bravo to Kandarpa and Aruny for bringing us this USEFUL, easy to use, information packed book.I cannot say enough good things about it, a must have book.... it's become my survival guide!
