5-0 out of 5 stars No question that it works.
I found this book after googling a bunch of different things, and came across these reviews.Lots of good reviews, a few negative ones.Well, I noticed that all the negative ones were either people who hadn't actually tried it or people who didn't really stick with it.You can't rate a book negatively if you don't follow the program.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!!!
I highly recommend this book, it works and it's the BEST.Even though I hadn't followed most of the recommendations like the enemas and baths it still worked for me just due to the diet change. What I would suggest also is to try to personalize it more, by finding out what works for you with diet.. mostly concerning laxatives, as for me most of them perscribed didnt' work (I guess my system is quite hard) so I explored around and found out that for me things like fresh papaya, dry figs, dates, eggs, and moloukhia (a green spinach like plant popular in the middle east) also other foods that are cleansing and remove toxins are good to increase, then decreasing the starches and adding more fruits, veggies and such foods into the diet really works.
1-0 out of 5 stars WHAT A HORRIBLE TRICK!
For years now, my best friend and ex-boyfriend of almost four years has been suffering from severe psorasis, as well as psoriatic arthritis. He had been through several doctors and has tried multiple kinds of treatments, ranging from with or without a combination of photolight therapy, sun and water therapy, topical treatments, and systemics (Methotrexate, Soriatane, etc).A few months ago, I discovered Dr. Pagano's book and shared this information with him. After having read the book, he decided to really dedicate himself to the diet and everything Dr. Pagano had stated in the book, such as the monthly visits to Dr. Pagano, the olive oil, the flaxseed oil pills, the peanut oil baths, the 50/50 combination of the peanut oil and olive oil, etc.For a few weeks only, it worked wonderfully. It seemed to be working for him, but after those few weeks, he broke out.Dr. Pagano had stated that he would have a break out before it would get better because the "toxins" were trying to leave the body, but after his psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis kept getting worse, Dr. Pagano finally told him that he would have to go back on phototherapy and systemics (Methotrexate). For a little over two months, because of this diet, he had the worst break out ever.He literally broke out all over his body, even on his face and neck!I truly believe that this diet would work for those that are only suffering from mild to moderate psoriasis, but for those suffering from severe psoriasis, I suggest that you beware! If you see yourself breaking out too much and for too long of a period, maybe you should try a different treatment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars From NYT best selling author, Ellen Tanner Marsh
Earls uncovered a significant link between diet and autoimmune disease.Using this knowledge, she set out to create a dietary approach that relies on natural healing rather than powerful, often dangerous, and always prohibitively expensive medications. The result is a profoundly useful and well-written book, Your Healing Diet.

2-0 out of 5 stars I nice shopping list for healthy eating.
This book offers a nice practical shopping list for healthy eating but that's about it. The rest of the book simply repeats what other books and websites claim about psoriasis and nutrition. The book is based on what I consider to be an unproven theory that psoriasis has its origins in toxins that build up in the body. The book provides no proof of this but simply goes with that assumption and describes foods that could possibly act as triggers for psoriasis flare-ups. The price of the book is relatively cheap and the dietary guidelines will certainly help improve overall health even if they don't have any impact on healing psoriasis. Since very little money seems to be spent on researching the causes of psoriasis as apposed to treating the symptoms, it wouldn't hurt to try these dietary guidelines.

4-0 out of 5 stars Healing Better
The impetus for writing a book against psoriasis came from Deirdre Earls' own long and painful encounter with the skin condition. The dietitian from Texas chose a more natural way of tackling her problem by healing with diet instead of chemotherapy. Her book Your Healing Diet (BookSurge Publishing, South Carolina, 2006) gives dietary advice on coping with problems, including psoriasis, resulting from noxious food.

4-0 out of 5 stars a good read
Some good advice much of which defies popular medical opinions, for the great fight against this disease.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book is really Great!!
I bought this book, and have shown it to others. They also thought this book was very good information. I gave it to a friend for her daughter that has psoriasis, so I just ordered another one for myself. I can't wait to get it. If the writer of this book reads this, I just want to Thank Her... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I was cleared in 3 weeks
I had terrible guttate psoriasis all over my entire body that morphed into plaqualar psoriasis--I suffered with it for six months, bad enough that I was bed-ridden.Even though I'd given up hope, someone bought me this book and I tried it.Using their diet "do's and don'ts" and supplement regimen (yes, it's like 60 vitamins a day.But when your body is crying out for help like that, severity is necessary).I was CLEARED...in three weeks.I almost wonder if the reason this is not known by all the world is because the insurance companies won't make money if everyone knew!Because, at least for me, this book really was a cure, and 4 years later, I've never had another outbreak.I combined this diet, by the way, with UV treatments (which had previously only helped temporarily).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book - Get it. Read it.It will help you.
Finally, an easy to read and understand book that clearly explains what to do to get rid of psoriasis, how to do it, and why other methods commonly in use, such as lots of exposure to direct sunlight or UV light, are potentially very dangerous.Very practical and useful information.I would highly recommend it to anyone who has psoriasis or who has a friend or loved one with psoriasis. It is, as a friend of mine has said, "like a breath of fresh air".

2-0 out of 5 stars Needs work
Psoriasis is an inflammatory response. Your immune system is overactive. Helping to control it through diet is an essential part of succesful treatment. If you get that part out of this book, great. But the diet here is extreme as the nutritionist's review states. You're better off with a book on treating inflammation such as Floyd Chilton's "Inflammation Nation". Also, as for "it works for me", a day in the ocean does more good than any drug I've ever used. Sun and salt water are wonderfull, not to mention stress reducing. A win all the way around. Hope this helps some of you fellow sufferers. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very Mediocre Book, but better than perscription medicine
If you are looking at this book review, you probably suffer from psoriasis, like I used to. Buying this book was one of MANY steps it took to clear up my condition. This book explains some VERY important concepts, but the knowledge itelf will not clear up your skin. The author is clearly NOT a doctor, which while it hurts the validity of the text, retroactively makes it easy to understand. I have seen skin care professionals who knew less about psoriasis than the author, however. To clear my skin, I used the concepts from this book and did a lot of other research on the internet and through doctors and naturopaths to come up with this recipe for clear skin:
5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent primer on self-healing
For eleven years, I have had severe psoriasis (76% PASI - if you have it, you know what this means) and moderate (sometimes severe) psoriatic arthritis.Aside from working with my physician, I regularly read books and do research on the treatment of psoriasis.I methodically try different therapies to try to help myself. This was just another book on my list this year, but has been the most valuable in my collection. This is one of the few psoriasis books that was not written by a designated expert of some kind, but rather someone who was sick like me.I have been quite strict in following the book's psoriasis healing recommendations for almost two months now.I have only recently begun to experience signs of improvement. The flare-ups are noticeably less severe and I have cleared several long time trouble spots.I am not completely clear and that is to be expected, but I am continuing with the methods and have no doubt that further improvements will follow. What is surprising is that my overall health has improved significantly - I have lost over 32 lbs and blood pressure has returned to normal levels without medication.I feel better in general. Please try it yourself but be patient. The method in the book is a lifestyle commitment. It's not easy, but if you have it as bad as I did, you will have the discipline to do it.I have spent 11 years trying to do quick fixes with various drugs that have worked with some degree of success in the short-term, but invariably are not long-term solutions because of bad side-effects or expense. As I said in my review title, this book was a gateway to the world of self-healing.This book has introduced me to a whole new way of thinking about personal health care.I have taken responsibility for my health. This book shows you how.No one cares about your health as much as yourself.Good luck.DON'T EVER GIVE UP.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dont care if the book is well writen, what matters, is cure
If the book delivers what it promissed, i.e. natural cure from Psoriasis, no matter what the descipline that needs to be followed is, that deserve 5 stars. I dont agree with the above comments. I dont care if the book is well presented, will writen, full of anecktodes, what really matters, is to get a begining of a cure from that deseas.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bravo!
A stunning text that delivers the scientific insight expected from a Dr Walker publication. The revelation here though, and in essence what separates this book from others, is the development of the scientist (and one time 'enfant terrible' of Psychology!) as a story teller. One hesitates to use the word genius - a term all too frequently applied in these celebrity obsessed times - but history will certainly look upon this title very favourably.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fast paced, exiting, heart stopping page turning book
I read this book within a matter of days, it's perfect for the beach or if your pennies don't stretch that far then you should read it with a box of chocolates and a glass of wine within easy reach. You will not be able to think about anything else until you have finished it, and even then thoughts will keep popping into your head.

3-0 out of 5 stars decent book.
Being a long time sufferer of psoriasis I can say that this book didn't tell me anything I didn't know already. But then again I have battled and won for the last 16 years of my life. And if many of the suferers out there are as jaded as I am, then we all know whats best and thats that.
1-0 out of 5 stars A general overview of common psoriasis information
I was underwhelmed. It's a fairly general treatise, and printed on low contrast paper, so it's difficult reading. The National Psoriasis group provides the same information for free. For a fresh look, try someone like Pagano. ... Read more

If you are an adult with Psoriasis - you know that one of the major suffering is trying to get treatment that is effective and does not create other side effect conditions. Once I was asked to sign a release form for treatment that freed the practitioner from resposibility for thepossibility of my contracting liver cancer. When I refused to sign thenurse told me point blank that if she had my condition she would risk anyillness to get rid of it. This doctor was a well known pioneer of mainstream treatments used today.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Patients AND Professionals
As a full time Phototherapist in a busy Dermatology practice, I find "The Handbook of Psoriasis; Second Edition", indispendable. After reading Dr. Camisa's book I find myself able to provide better patient care, through an increased insight into the disease that the majority of my patients suffer from. I also highly recommend this book to my patients as a tool through which they can better understand and control their conditon, as it is written in such a manner that both the professional and patient can gather valuable, useful information.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book
As a resident in dermatology, I can strongly recommend this book. It provides concise thorough chapters on many aspects psoriasis, including its different clinical manifestations. Perhaps of most use are the chapters ontreatment which summarise very well how to use the oral immunosupressivemedications, retinoids, tar, light and more. Highly recommended for 1st and2nd years.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent addition to any Dermatologists bookshelf
The Handbook of Psoriasis would make an excellent addition to any Dermatologist's bookshelf. Concise and complete, this reference provides current and pertinent information on all aspects of psoriasis ranging fromclassification and genetics to pathology and treatment. The chapterspertaining to treatment are especially comprehensive and would definitelyassist the clinician in the treatment of this often frustrating illness, regardless of their career level. I was very impressed by the discussion onthe immunosuppressant and retinoid drugs. Nebulous topics in most texts,Camisa eloquently clarifies the most essential factors regarding the use ofthese drugs(critical information that will be valuable not only forpsoriasis but other dermatological disease entities as well). A definite"keeper" of a book which I highly recommend. ... Read more
