The next best thing to Molnar' s text itself
I just used this book to study for and pass the pediatric rehab boards. It is an outstanding summary of Molnar's Pediatric Rehab text since the Cuccurrulo pediatric chapter summary is written by Molnar's co-author Alexander. The peds rehab chapter is required reading for my rehab residents on their pediatric rehab clerkship. It is nice to finally have some well-organized comprehensive review books out there.

Well Worth Every Penny for PM&R Board Review!
I did not take the written exam in the typical manner secondary to childbearing and scheduling delays.Needless to say, my clinical exposure to many of the tested areas was limited since completion of residency.Consequently, I found it necessary to review and study prior to the exam.I found this book helpful in structuring my study time.It's subject contect was also complete.If there was an area in which the review book did not make since to me, I merely supplemented with standard tests.Otherwise, the review book was a sufficient resource for preparation.I would highly recommend it as I believe that I partly owe my passing score to the authors!

Good for boards only
I found this book helpful studying for boards.It is a very large field to cover and the author stresses board relevant material with an "open book" icon next to them.

Great but Needs a Revision
The book is great in that it covers such a wide variety of topics and provides basic knowledge that are essential for a pharmacist, while it explains each topic concisely. It helps me a lot. However, the topics are not logically aligned. On the one hand, similar descriptions appear in more than one chapter, on the other hand, some chapters contain multiple, rather unrelated topics. Sometimes the book is difficult to understand: some drug names, units (mesh for injection purification), formulae (clearance), and seemingly contradicting explanations. The book would become even more helpful if its contents are reshuffled,some alleged typos and editing errors are resolved, and an index is added. Also, the book would shine if it acquires more detailed knowledge of drug metabolism.

Good for FPGEE but not for NAPLEX
this book is very hepful for taking FPGEE but it have very less role in Naplex.I will tell you all with the my experiance i have studied APHA pharamcy review for naplex whic is the best book.If any body taking naplex please also do Kaptest online which also have lot of patient profiles which actually come for your naplex.KAPLAN review is just helpful after you have studied some theory from some books like APHA.

Buggy Software
The software is extremely buggy; one wrong keypress or click and it crashes, causing you to lose all the questions you just answered. If you accidentally run it from the CD and not your disk (it requires the CD to be installed), it will mysteriously not save any of your scores. You won't know this until you launch the program again.

Excellent resource!!!
This book is useful for preparation for general surgery shelf in medical school, or the absite, or boards for general surgery residents.

Decent source of review questions
Several of my classmates and I got this book as an ABSITE review source.I think that it has a significant amount of material and covers many subjects well.There are some claims made by the author that I feel are still quite controversial.There were some errors as well, it seems like they were in a rush to get this out for the 2006 ABSITE.Overall, a decent source of questions/answers that covers a lot of ground.Somewhat time consuming.Some chapters much better than others. ... The best review source, without competitors.
Constant updating of medical information, diverse and specialized skills of contributors, realistically concise book size, and practical itemization of review topics have made Kaplan Qbooks the best source for preparation to USMLE. It is difficult for competitors to catch up with the excellence of Kaplan. I noticed an example of such imitation by a professor of biochemistry, coauthored with another physician, where you could easily sense the circumstantiality of their questions and the poor itemization of their answers.In that imitation, the authors cram their answers in a long paragraph, single spaced and single column page, with poorly chosen font.

Great Book
I am a second year medical student preparing for the boards while taking my courses. I really like this book.It gives a case then after the case has a description of the answer, a detailed explanation of the case, diagnosis, treatment, definitions, etc.It finishes each section with a few multiple choice questions.The chapters are short enough to read one in your"spare time."I recommend this to any medical student that enjoys to read case studies as a complement to their textbook reading.:)

A must-have for 3rd year OB/GYN rotation
This book helped me to honor my 3rd year OB/GYN rotation. I recommend it- easy reading with lots of pearls throughout. I just kept it at my bedside and read a few cases a night. I used this with Blueprints and was very prepared for the shelf exam.

Most Efficient Resource for Shelf Exam
Echoing the sentiments of previous reviewers, this book basically has 30-40% of the Ob/Gyn shelf within its pages.A lot of my friends read the book as well and were similarly amazed at its mimcry.Some of the questions seem to directly stem from the 60 cases in this text.You're hurting yourself by NOT reading this.It provides a good foundation for the major scenarios you might encounter in Ob/Gyn.It's particularly effective because the Ob/Gyn shelf is really specialized to the field and doesn't have too many general medicine questions like other clerkship tests.

You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book
Excellent resource for the RN!!!
This Lab manual and text are an excellent pair!This text and lab manual are the best I have had in my years of nursing school. I guarantee you will want to hold on to this for the rest of your career!I only wish I had the text in my ADN program, sorry I had to wait to read it!The manual is a great practice and assessment tool!

Very useful
This book contains a lot of excellent tables, algorithms and summaries that I could not find in any other review book. It seems to be a great companion while doing review questions. I also found this book to be an outstanding source when I prepared for work rounds to teach the interns and students. I can highly recommend this book to all residents. I wish I had it when I started my residency.

I've been using the First Aid for the Internal Medicine Boards to review IM material during my 3rd year, and I would say that it is very complete. It is more concise than other review books out there coming in over just 600 pages and is very much more affordable. Most review books out there cost hundreds of dollars and are just too long to read more than once. First Aid for IM review is organized by disease system and then is broken down signs/symptoms, differential, diagnosis and treatment. There are many pictures for the diseases it covers with color glossies in the back of the book. The book is full of easy to review charts and mnemonics. There are notes in the margins to highlight must memorize facts. The key to using this book is to study the charts which have high yield facts useful for answering questions and also memorizing the algorithms which can be applied to many different types of questions. When combined with the question book of your choice, First Aid for IM boards provides effective review. This book is short enough, as opposed to other review books, that it can be reviewed several times before you take the boards. When do we ever really remember anything when only reading it once? I recommend this book to anyone that wants a complete IM review in the shortest time possible with high yield facts that helps you answer more questions correctly. ... Read more

Wait until you see what the test is REALLY like!!!
I just took the CPC test a few days ago.I did my course work.They did not really go over past tests but I had secured a simulation of one.I purchased this book because I felt sample tests were something I needed to practice.All the anatomy, etc., in this book is too in depth for what is on the test and overdone...look at how the test is setup.The book should be more based on CPT, ICD, HCPCS, real life examples of coding, etc., that you need for the test.I took the tests in the book and scored well on them.... Then comes the REAL test.OH MY GOSH.I found it to be much more difficult than the sample tests in the book or more difficult than any sample questions I had seen anywhere.And don't think that topics will be evenly covered - mine had 5 cath's on it and no spine, for example. The book didn't hurt, but you need to do much more work than just this book if you want to pass the test. ... Read more

Ok, but not the best.
I used this book while on my Fam med rotation during 3rd year of medical school.At the time, there were not many books designed for medical students specifically on FP.The was no First Aid or Blueprints Family Medicine book for example.
excellent, best source for family shelf
Just use this and your set. I had a 4 week rotation in fam med & had not yet had, ob/gyn, peds or IM, but I did well using this text. I only got through half of the text, but did that the night before. I only wish I'd got it sooner.

Questions and Answers
Oodles of questions and explained answers, and it comes highly recommended by my fellow classmates who used it to study for the national shelf exams.(I used Swanson's Family Practice Review and loved it.) I used NMS to a degree but didn't get through all of it.The questions are usually high yield and well explained. One classmate specifically said that this was the only book he used for Family and he aced the exam.I guess that's a pretty good review.See my listmania list for more med school ideas. ... Read more

Great review
It's a great review book, not for basicknowledge though, you must have read the material elsewhere, this is just a nice one week crash review book.

excellent concise review
this is an excellent concise review of high yeild information.although nothing is a subsitute for regular reading of a surgical text, this is as close as it comes if you are preparing for the absite.it will take a few years to determine this book's utility with the new absite format, but in the meantime this is one of the best that i have seen.
