I used this book as my primary source...i read it twice before the exam. the cases are amazingly close to what you will get in the exam...trust me... you do not need a course, all you need is the first aid!!!!!!!!!!!!! any other sources can be used as a way of reviewing what you have already learned from that book. trust me you know the content of this book, you are one step ahead of the game.
All you need to pass CS!
This book does a great job of describing the exam format, rules and content. You can easily pass the exam using this book alone. In fact, a few days with this little gem before CS is what most of my friends and I have done for preparation. The consensus is that we ALL felt very comfortable with the simulated patient format based on what we learned in First Aid alone. Of all the cases I had on the exam, only ONE was not specifically covered in First Aid for CS. Don't waste time with other books/resources. I was somewhat disappointed with First Aid for CK, but for CS...it's right on the money!

#1 book for Step 2 CS
This book was excellent for the exam. It told me exactly what to expect and what I needed for the exam day. The cases in the back of the book where almost verbatim of what I saw on the exam. my single most valuable reference book

Nurse's Pocket Guide
Everything I needed in a book on diagnoses, interventions and rationales.This is a great must-have for all new nursing students.

essential book
I used this book constantly throughout the first year of school. It is an essential for the firsty year.

Good as a guide
but not to be used solely for writing care plans and here's the main reason why: there are very few rationales. Too few. In the care plans I was required to write, I had to have scientific rationales for each and every intervention. This book includes some rationales but not one for each intervention. I did use this book some but it will not be enough alone for those whose teacher, like mine, requires quoted rationales for each intervention of your care plan. Furthermore, the new NANDA approved Nursing Diagnoses for 2005-2006 aren't included which I was expected to know and start using when applicable this school year.So I had to go out and buy a new care plan book.I think this guide is intended, as the title suggests, for Nurses already working as a pocket guide, and not specifically for nursing students.It is a bit too tall and heavy to keep in your pocket working in the hospital but you could leave it at your station.

Good textbook, but double-check info
This is a good textbook if you have other resources available to double-check the information. The main problem I found with this book is that it tends to contradict itself, which can be quite frustrating for a student who is preparing for a test. For instance, the text will tell you that a certain condition usually presents as a single lesion, but the table right next to it says that same condition usually presents as a multiple lesion. This doesn't happen all the time, but it is more often than I would expect for a textbook.
Great Textbook for Diagnostic Ultrasonography
I have read the previous edition of this book. Compare the fourth edition, several improvements have been made in this edition: Each chapter begins with a list of key terms and definitions. Color illustrations and layout are used. A lot of new ultrasound images are added and the qualities of these images are much better. The text has been retrenched. Important points are put in tables for differentiation. Even there are still a few mistakes in this edition, I believe this is a great book.

good for interns, simple for surgeons, very superficial for specialists
Ok, when compared to the "I can read series for surgery (ACS surgery)" this book obviously has much more valuable data and in depth chapters. But this book is simply lacking the information which is crucial for advanced learners. esp. the breast is simple for even 3.year med students. too many errors very unfortunate for such a book with reputation. many chapters are lacking detailed information, badly organized text, reads like a british book, not very appealing for people who are used to reading american texts only. try reading sample chapters before buying one.

Too vague, boring to read
Unlike voluminous texts like Harrison's, I find this text written in such a fashion that it becomes a chore to read. Given, I am not going into surgery, but any well written textbook should hold someone's interest. I find the book too vague and low yield for medical students and probably too simplistic for surgical residents. Needless to say, I am going to try to sell it before the new edition comes out.

Too many errors
I "converted" from Greenfield, pleased with the new changes to Sabiston which included better quality paper, consistent diagrams and illustrations throughout the book, and concise but relevant discussions within the chapters.This book seemed more practical than Greenfield did.Furthermore, many of the contributors are my attendings and I rely on their brilliance and expertise daily.

Great comprehensive reference in Ultrasound
It cover almost everythings you need in Ultrasound practise, great reference guide for those people who have just start thier Ultrasound practise. Moreover, those information in the book are with up to date Ultrasound technology. All in all, great book and worth the money that I spend !!!!!

Displeased with a few Chapters
Some of these chapters are out of date and not useful for the radiologist in general practice. I especially disprove of the Charboneau chapters. Rumack and Wilson are excellent!

Best Practice for Internal Med Shelf
This book is basically MKSAP 2 except with different questions.That's good since MKSAP 2 was well made.There were several things I liked about MKSAP.It covered a variety of illnesses and grouped them by symptom (so if you felt weak in pulmonary you could easily find sections applicable to that field).The American College of Physicians wrote it, which is quite comforting.It references appropriate research articles for every Q&A.Finally, like a shelf, it forced you to make tough decisions.In reality, you order just above every lab and whatever imaging you need to cover yourself.Board questions, though, make you choose the best test from what you would always order.

MANY MISTAKES, don't believe everything you read.
This edition is OK if you can catch all of the several mistakes.THE FOLLOWING CORRECTIONS SHOULD BE MADE: 1. Table 1-33, Bart's is an abnormal hemoglobin composed of 4 gamma chains (not 4 Beta). 2. Table 1-37, IVIG is NOT a treatment for TTP but it IS a treatment for ITP. 3. Table 3-13, a benign tumor of the ovary is a cystadenOMA, NOT a cystadenoCARCINOMA.4. Table 5-13, Dog bites that are "provoked" are LESS likely to be associated with rabies while unprovoked bites are more associated with rabies. 5. Table 1-15, Squamous cell carcinoma (not small cell as the book claims) is associated with hypercalcemia due to secretion of PTHrp.These mistakes are MAJOR. Who knows how many more there are. . .that I missed. If you can't trust SOME of the information, how can you trust ANY of it?

useful and high yield
Very good book for step 3, specially when you are cramming for the last minute. The most useful parts were the pictures and charts. They are really few good books in the market for step 3 and i can honestly say that this book and " Crush the boards" by Adam Brochert are the best.

Concise, 1-book review for Step 2.
This book was more than helpful for Step 2.In particular, it helped me polish up on dermatology, ophthalmology, neurology, and radiology - subjects not well covered in the other review books I used, and subjects which had an appreciable presence on USMLE Step 2.It also helped me review OB/GYN at the last minute.Look out for errors, though - others in my class found flaws in the medicine section, for example.Otherwise I'd give it 5 stars.Worth the price for all the high-yield information packed in this little green book. ... Not a very appealing text
Chapters are disjoint at times, with no reference to similar concepts between them.Almost as if they were all written separately without any editing to tie them all together.
Health Behavior and Health Education
This book is a must have for anyone in the health education field. It presents all major health behavior theories in a clear and understandable manner, applies theories to case studies at the end of each chapter, and offers a table summary of each theory's core constructs. The book is well written and with this third edition comes more updated research information.

Not for a novice
Unarguably, Glanz et al know their theories.That, along with how comprehensive this book is, is as much of a positive review as I can give.My criticism of this book is not the expertise of Glanz et al. Excellent NCLEX-RN review. Simply the best!!
I graduated in 2000 and tried the NCLEX 4 times. I tried Kaplan, Lippincot, Mosby, you name it non of them helped. Kaplan was way too simple and wouldn't explain enough strategies. Lippincot and Mosby where too complicated and not user friendly. By just buying the Strategies for success and Comprehensive Review books from Saunders and creating a good study plan was able to finally pass on my fifth attempt stoping the computer on the 75th question. The way these books explain the strategies are so good that you will get to the point where if you don't know the answer, by learning the strategies you will choose the correct answer by elimination. But the best key for success is determination and avoiding procrastination. Oh, also... practice, practice, and practice questions until you drop. At least 100 to 200 questions a day!!!

Saunders NCLEX
I have purchased 6 Reviews for the NCLEX and this is by far the best book. This book has everything in outline form and the questions are very helpful because you are able to select a specific area of study, such as OB/GYN, Respiratory, Endocrine,Surgery, ect...

A MUST FOR EVERY NURSING STUDENT!!!
I got this more than halfway during nursing school. I wish I had gotten it sooner. It's very comprehensive and covers everything the NCLEX will. It's organized well and explains complicated topics very well. It often goes along with my Lewis Medical Surgical book (same publisher) and has great graphics and charts. Very useful. I haven't taken my boards yet but I'm confident this will help. I plan to read it cover to cover in May-June. The CD also offers great rationales and a plethora of great questions. A treasure!
This series is a treasure to keep. The book is filled with great diagrams and very easy to understand language.

Excellent book
First is Knuth, second is Corman that brings the art of algorithms closer to earth. Then is Sedgewick. This book provides very good balance between theory and practice and lets the practitioners know that programming is a bit more than just writing "if" and "for" and that the art of algorithms is not only art but also science. This book evolved from early editions (Algorithms in C, 1990) and keeps the standard. These two volumes is the must for every serious programmer.
Excellent combination of books
Sedgewick's publisher (Addison-Wesley) has gathered his two books, Algorithms in Java, parts 1-5, into one resource for developers. Convenient, for you now have something that spans the most common algorithms encountered during computer programming. Logically, the combination of the two volumes is very coherent. Read more

I guess I took a liking for this book ever since I read its earlier edition. This one too is highly reccomended to all clinicians and postgraduate students of Pathology. It is concise, compact and has a wealth of information. Moreover the narrative text is lucid and the tables and flowcharts are real handy. This is a comprehensive, medical dictionary that is well organized and cross-referenced. Its use is made more interesting by the inclusion of etymologies. It is not, however, for doctors only. Ok, but doesn't quite live up to its title
I recently took the AP boards and used this book in my preparation.Although using this book does help in overall review of AP topics and identifies areas of weakness, there are several problems with this book.First, the questions do not follow the same format as the questions on the real board exam.Second, as with any multi-author textbook, some chapters are better than others.Third, there are many topics and questions in AP on the real exam that are not covered in this book.The explanations to the questions are pretty good and are quite helpful.In summary, this book is good practice, but don't be too reliant on it and don't expect it to cover everything on the AP boards.

Excellent AP Board Review
This excellent review cover all the main areas of anatomic pathology. Most of the questions feature color photographs. The answers provide complete and clear explanations using up to date textbook and journal references. Oschman did something quite exceptional in this book; he expressed my understanding of the way living things work, but went beyond my dark intuitive sense of the significance of the whole, to a crisp,intellectual, yet poetic, expression of the parts in relation to that whole

Exceptional compilation of research
I received this book from Amazon a few days ago and am halfway through it. I'm so impressed by Oschman's compilation of research - it's provided me with countless answers I've been seeking all my life. I am a degreed mechanical engineer, and am currently getting an advanced degree in Oriental Medicine. I've also been practicing Reiki and other energy healing modalities for several years, having been drawn into these alternative healing fields because of my natural ability for sensing subtle energies ever since I was little. Until I started reading Oschman's book I never had a scientific explanation for this energy or why it was so helpful in healing others. I've always known that these energies are real but I definitely appreciate a scientific explanation for any type of energy phenomenon - it makes it much easier to explain to others who haven't had similar experiences why and how they happen. I meet a lot of people who are interested in energy healing and some who are quite skeptical of its validity. Thanks to this book, I now have a clear way of explaining what I and countless others have known all along - that energy medicine really does work. If you're simply curious about why energy medicine works, or you're a practitioner yourself and have wanted a scientific way of explaining its validity to your friends and clients, you'll definitely appreciate this book (even with the $40 price tag).
