Life saver...literally
This book is perfect for the scrub who wants to take every case but doesn't have the experience or just needs a brush-up.Even my instructors (both first-assists) recommended this book as a must-have.

Wonderful Book!!!
This book is excellent for all the new surgical technologists and ST students out there! This book lays it down in simple, almost layman-like terms but is very thorough. Everythng you need to prepare for a case you have never done is in this book. I cannot say enough about how greatly helpful this book is! It has gotten me through alot of stressful situations! If you read this book the night before or right before a case the MD will think you are the greatest thing since sliced bread because it really tells you EVERYTHING you need to know! Cure HIV/Aids with diet, exercise and castor oil packs?
While I have an excellent understanding of the metaphysical philosopy, the idea that one can diagnose and cure disease such as HIV and Aids with diet, castor oil packs and the like, is absurd. As a registered nurse, my first and only encounter with this author, leaves me unsure, other than book sales, why she would make this claim.
Misses the mark and with leaps in logic to hasty conclusions
I have to preface this review by saying that I am not a Caroline Myss fan.This is not based upon my past religious upbringing, but rather on her approach to an attempted synthesis between the Jewish, Christian and Hindu teachings on metaphysics and energy systems.In short, I think she missed the mark and tried to force fit areas together based more on her assumptions about reality than a natural meshing together of concepts.
mixed feelings
for most of my life, I have felt that a connection exists between our psychological and emotional experiences and the illnesses we develop, that in many ways our illnesses represent a metaphor for the emotional and spiritual crises that we go through.over the course of the last few years I have been exploring different forms of spirituality and healing practices that integrate spirituality with an understanding of the body.in a lot of places I would read references to the idea I described above, of illness as a manifestation of spiritual crises, but no one ever really seemed to go in to the subject at great length.so I was excited when I found Myss's book, as it seemed to delve deeply into this subject, and also explored the relationship between healing and mysticism.

PASS CCRN
If you like reading material that will put you to sleep this is the book for you. I was very dissapointed in this book. The book is just a collection of material from other books. It reads like a research paper. I was hoping to have more material concerning nursing questions. The only thing that is more disappointing about this book is the price I paid for it. The only reason I did not give this book one star is that it has a cd rom that is somewhat helpful.

Many of the chapters just talk about protocols
Excellent Rehab Book
This book is an excellent resource for any Certified Athletic Trainer, experienced or entry-level. Several rehab protocols are outlined for many common injuries seen in athletics as well as the general population. There is a general review of anatomy as well that proves helpful.

Won't leave home without it!
I am new at this prescribing thing and seem to have a whole lot more questions than I have answers... The Prescriber's Guide truly is "Essential" ... I have long been a fan of Stahl and his ability to make dry and difficult material come to life and thereby easier to understand ... even makes me laugh ... I can not say enough good things about this book- it offers a wealth of practical "real world" information about prescribing and answers "newbie" questions that typically beget the "you'll learn that with experience" answer. An absolute MUST HAVE for the novice prescriber- thank you Stephen Stahl!

Maybe it's just me
I really didn't like this book, and I'm not sure if it is just the topic that I struggled with or if it was the text.I had a tough time reading the book...I didn't like the blank lines to fill in the answers, it seemed distracting to me trying to learn the information and having to stop and fill in the blank as I go along.
Simple, simple, and simple!
I have to say that this is the best college text book I have ever used. Clear, concise explanations of semi-complicated topics. I could not ask any more out of a book, except maybe lowering the price.

How "Basic Arrhythmias" helped me in paramedic school.

Good Supplement for Internal Med
Case Files is well made and good at what it covers.The format is very readable, giving you a scenario and making you think of a diagnosis and plan.It's much better than skimming a heavy albeit more complete text.That said, while 60 case scenarios are a lot, it can't hit everything, and it's important to have a wide base of knowledge for the Internal Med Clerkship.I read this after reading First Aid for Internal Med a few times, and while I picked up a couple of things that I had little clue about, it mainly reinforced what was in that book.I would recommend Case Files for people who 1) like the scenario format and can't stand outlines/bullets/texts2) are close to taking the shelf exam and want an indication as to how questions might be constructed.MKSAP, however, is probably the closest to the exam you can get.Once again, this is a great supplement, but I would not use this as a primary / singular source.

Fantastic study aid
I used this book and did quite well on the shelf exam.I recommend it to anyone who wants to do well on an internal medicine test.It's very complete and the cases allow you to integrate a lot of knowledge in one scenario.

Missing CD.
It's good but it came without the CD and I ordered another one with no luck this time also missing CD.

Another large NAPLEX review
This is another large review book for the NAPLEX.The book may be too detailed to read from cover to cover in time for the exam, but it came free with APhA membership during our final year in pharmacy school.I used this APHA book and the Comprehensive Review of Pharmacy (Shargel) to obtain background information on topics that kept eluding me during practice exams with Appleton & Lange.

Excellent Review and Practice Book
I recently passed the ANCC FNP certification exam in February 2006.I used this to supplement a review book that I had and found it to be an excellent review and practice preparation resource.The book isn't overwhelming and I believe it helped me to successfully pass the exam.

Highly recommend
This was an excellent test preparation for boards.I purchased four different books, and attended the Fitzgerald review, and found this to be the highest quality BOOK of the group.I thought it was better in that it is in the true format of the test with multiple questions from various areas in random sequence, and not just by subject section.The questions paralleled the difficulty of the exam and included succinct explanations of the rationale. HIGHLY Recommended!!!!I suggest attending a Fitzgerald review if possible as well, dynamic. BTW, I passed the AANP without difficulty.

This review really helped.
I guess this was a sucessful purchase, as I just passed my FNP board exams. I had previously been using Fitzgeralds review course and test review only. This text is quite different from the previously mentioned ones. The format is very student friendly, with questions on the front of page and answers/rationale on the back. There were a very few mistakes (less than 1%)and all info followed current evidence-based practice guidelines. It is a good chunk of money to add to the rest of graduation/certification expenses, but I would say it is well worth it. ... Read more

Intended for Review
These flash cards are great.They are in full color (not all anatomy flash cards are created alike!) and include basic information about the body (ie the origin and insertion of muscles along with their importance).Remember, flash cards are meant for review, not for primary studying.You can turn these cards into a full study tool simply by adding information from Moore or any other anatomy text.We all want to cut corners, but using these cards alone won't do it (but they'll get you pretty close).I couldn't live without them.Couple them with Moore's Essential Anatomy and you have the perfect cocktail for success in Gross.

Could be better.
The flashcards are nice to take anywhere. The numbers are lined to different parts of the region one is studying. Example the skull, if you are studying lateral view of the skull a number would highlight the temporal bone but you will have four lines pointing to four different parts of the temporal bone, if you needed more help to which part of the temporal bone was the zygomatic process it would be hard to find out which of those four lines pointed to it. The answers are next to the temporal bone in parenthesis but it does not go in to much detail to which line represents what. This could be better.

A good starting point
I just finished my first year in medical school, and I thought these cards were a good starting point for studying.Often it's hard to motivate yourself to learn all the mundane details required in gross anatomy, and these flash cards were great to carry around on the bus and review during my commute.Read more

pretty good
very short book....takes about 5-6 hours to read...the CD forget it...its crap...so hard to use and unclear...and if your using this book for USMLE 1, the CD is useless...but the text will help consolidate some of the facts in FIRST AID...the depth of the material is appropriate for usmle 1...over all its a good inexpensive book...and cleared up a lot of stuff i ddin't understand in my neuro course....

Not so ridiculously simple for those without a background
I do have a science background, but nothing specifically in neuroanatomy. The book cover and title seem to indicate that this book should be entertaining and "easy" to read. This book is not a cartoon book designed to stimulate memory and is definitely not simple or basic. I am sorry to say this but the line drawings are not the greatest quality. I think it is targeted to med students or doctors who need a very compact clinical symptom reference or a quick refresher but know neuroanatomy. Keep searching if you need an true introduction to neuroanatomy.

Essential for Medical Students
This skinny text is one of the few books that all medical students can read and benefit from. When I took neuroanatomy, it was regarded as the most difficult course in our first-year curriculum. Having read this book early in the course, and referring back to it several times, I got off to a great start. It won't tell you eveything you need to know, nor in the depth you'll need to know it. Beats Ettinger Hands Down
That pretty much sums it up.This book is a lot more user friendly.Ettinger's is good for those in acedemia.Nelson & Couto is for those in the "real world".

Vet Students Agree
I recently consulted with a group of advanced veterinary students on which of the small animal internal medicine texts would be the most useful to me. For the record, I am an allied health professional with more background in human medicine. I looked at this text and Ettinger's, which--again!--my sources kept referring to as the bible ofsmall animal internal medicine. Ettinger was only about $30 more than this text, and as a big two-volume set, it looked like a better deal at first glance. However,this text is FAR more user-friendly, and there were sections that I read right away out of sheer interest.Unless you are a vet student planning to make a meaningful investment in heavy books, this book is likely to meet your needs and do so in a relatively painless way. ... Not quite what I expected
Zollinger's features very good illustrations and notes (including postoperative care) for nearly every imaginable procedure in gastrointestinal surgery (including exotic and complex operations such as total pancreatectomy and Klatskin tumor resections), short of bariatric surgery. Truely one of the most successful books of the kind, the strucure is well designed, the operations included cover a eide range of procedures, and most noticeble is the very high quality of the explanatory figures, sometimes by just brawsing through them you get 80% of what to do... the text is well written and concise. You will find many approaches for each operation. of course it will be impossible to gather all the surgical craft in one book. but this one succeeds in collecting a large chunk of it. i highly recommend it for all juniors and postgrads alike. ...
