I found this book much more useful than any other providing disorder classification system.

Recipe for success ...
This is a must-have for the I.M. CERT exam. The starred items, my favorites, pointed to recently asked material, which made my studying alot more enjoyable. In my opinion, nothing comes close to Frontrunners' review. My partners used it for their internal medicine RECERT and were equally pleased. As for me, I wouldn't have passed without it. Make sure you get through it at least twice before the exam since there was a load of material on the exam right out of the syllabus. I also went hit all of Frontrunners practice Q&A for the I.M. boards and got both from their www.frontrunners.info website (they had samples there, etc). In my opinion, if you're serious about passing or want to excel, you'd be foolish NOT to get a copy of these, even from a friend, before sitting for the exam.

this book is not worth the price
I was shocked after going through the book.This book is extremely inadequate for boards.you may get other reviews at one-fifth price.

Internal Medicine Board Review Course 2005-2006 Exceptional
My partner and I got the av-3 package from their www.frontrunners.info website in preparation for the August internal medicine board review exam because we simply had to pass. The package we got had this syllabus, over a thousand practice Q&A, obviously a huge plus on the exam, and the Audiovisual CDs from the review, which were the best we could find anywhere. We just got our board scores back from the ABIM and both of us scored in the top decile, 10, in all areas but one (which was the one chapter he didn't have time to read). Hope this information helps others who are in a similar situation, have to pass "or else", and are simply looking for the best internal medicine board review out there. Exceptionalreview. Essential Atlas for Gross Anatomy
Although Netter's classic drawings are helpful in understanding the layout of human body systems, I find that this 6th Edition of Rohen is outstanding due to the excellent photography of professionally-dissected cadavers.It is much easier to identify complex structures on real cadavers in a Gross Anatomy lab using this reference; moreover, it is helpful as a tool to study when the cadaver lab is not open.Real bodies are much more difficult to analyze than idealized drawings--with this book, you can review before a laboratory excercise and have a more realistic expectation of what you are going to actually see.

I read about "Nordie's at Noon" from my weekly PEOPLE magazine subscription.I actually bought the book on vacation and could not put it down--it is a quick read, but so very powerful and inspiring.I admire these four ladies' courage and their stance not to be victims.They are true survivors and are an inspiration to anyone faced with any type of illness.I passed the book along to a friend who has breast cancer as well.When you read the book, you definitely feel like you know the four authors.I recommend this book to ALL woman!

An excellent book for all women
I read the review of this book in People magazine, and was interested enough to buy it the next day.I was not disappointed-- this a wonderful book.Not only was it an interesting and well written chronicle of 4 women's fight with breast cancer, but it was educational as well. Reading first hand accounts of how breast cancer changed the lives of young women made I could relate to made me realize it's high time I knew what a BSE (Breast Self-Examination) was!

Live, Love, Laugh, Learn
This book is an amazing story about the four women authors on their journey with breast cancer, God, family, and friends.I feel so much more enlightened and comfortable with the topic of breast cancer; I've grown tremendously from my experience reading the book.One of the mantra's for one of the authors is Live, Love, Laugh.My mantra has always been Live, Love, Laugh, Learn.I Learned a great deal from this book and believe it will help others Learn about friendship and one very important part of life no one can escape.Of course, there is a huge emphasis in the book on Living, Loving and Laughing.I gave a copy of this book to approximately 100 friends across the nation.I hope this story will help many people Learn more about their family and friends who are, or who will inevitably, Live, Love, and Laugh their way through breast cancer.My Live, Love, Laugh, Learn Campaign - "PASS IT ON!" Excellent overview of cancer biology
This book provides a comprehensive overview of cancer biology. Excellent as introductory text for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate student. Written by a lasker award winner and one of the pioneers of the molecular biological study of cancer. The accompanying CD has intersting supplimentary material especially the videos that add to the utility of the book. The accompanying poster lists the most common interconnected pathways in cancer. Highly readable and uptodate. Highly recommended for purchase.

The State of the Art as it is Known Today.
This textbook, aimed at the advanced undergraduate and graduate biology and medical students covers the basic biology of cancer at the molecular andcellular level. Research into cancer in many different directions has been continuing at an accelerated pace since about World War II. In 1975 a major breakthrough was made by H.E. Varmus and J.M. Bishop on San Francisco. The result has been the creation of the new branch of biology covered by this book.

Fantastic!
I'm a high school student, and I had the privilege of taking medical terminology during my sophomore year.This book was fantastic is teaching complicated topics.The flash cards are great and the outline of it is great as well.

Excellent Medical Terminology Resource
This book was an excellent resource for someone who has little medical background. Difficult concepts were made easy thanks to the included study aids. I especially liked the various memory tips that were given throughout the book. I would highly recommend this book for novices as well as experts.

Excellent Review Book!
I used this book for the first semester of medical school. It gives a quick overview of each system of the human body as well as abbreviations commonly used. It's an easy read. A perfect complement for anyone needing a quick, but thorough, medical terminology overview.

He knows more than I thought...
A few weeks ago, my husband turned to me out of the blue and remarked smugly, "I can't believe how some guys don't know anything about pregnancy."
Short? Yes Worth it? Yes Useful? Yes
As a first time expecting father everything has been confusing, even looking for a pregnancy guide that's shorter than The Bible. This was my first book I've read on the subject so I didn't want something overwhelming. This is exactly what this book is good for. It gives relevant information that one can digest in a few hours and come away knowing more than they did. This book is simple, informative, and humourous. I remember quite a few times where I would point a part out and show it to my wife.
Breath of fresh air
My wife and I read this book together while expecting our first child.Our doctor, friends, and family inundated us with medical/psychological/technical books that increase your stress levels as much as your knowledge about pregnancy.This author manages to inform and entertain at the same time.It is a quick read that provided a welcome break from the other content-heavy pregnancy books, although I would recommend reading one or two of those as well. ... Excellent!
Just finished taking step 3...I highly recommend First Aid, it is concise and, most importantly, the information in the text is relevant to the actual exam. It is easy to get through and I actually learned quite a bit reading it. Lastly, the description and tips it provides for the new interactive section of step 3 was invaluable, trust me.
THe only review book with CCS case work.
I've always been a fan of first aid books. painless review. read this once, did qbank and the cd for the test.

You don't need to be afraid of Statistics
This is a very friendly statistics book.It is easy to read and understand.The authors also throw in some humorous comments now and then that is something you wouldn't expect to find in a statistics book and this seemed to help with the reading.Many real world business examples are used in the book.The example problems and the end of section or chapter problems are from different areas of study such as business, political, social sciences, and science. This is great for understanding how to apply statistics in real life.I would have to say that all the topics and formulas are explained very well.In some cases there are more then one way to write a formula and Sanders and Smidt makes a point of giving you both formulas.You can decide which formula works for you.The book comes with a CD loaded with the data files for all the problems so you don't have to spend time keying in data.There are copies of the data files come in a variety of formats such as Minitab, Excel Windows, and Macintosh.For most of the example problems the book takes you through the steps using Minitab Statistical software and the TI-83 graphing calculator.You are not only learning statistics, but you are also learning how to use Minitab and the TI-83 graphing calculator.In this day and age if you are going to do statistics you need to be able to do it with a computer.I wish they would have also included examples using Microsoft Excel, which more people are apt to have then Minitab. Personally I use both Minitab and Excel. I actually enjoyed reading this book and looked forward to studying.Even though my statistics class is over this book will not be collecting dust for a while as I plan on going back through it to reread or finish reading what I missed or skimmed over. There are still a lot of the problems that I want to do to reinforce what I have already learned.This is a great statistics book to keep as a reference. Primary Step 1 Resource
There is a reason this book is ubiquitous among students studying for USMLE Step 1: it gets results. It contains a section giving advice for studying for the test, high-yield facts and figures for the subjects, and reviews of other resources. It is a great value for the price.
A good place to begin
Having just taken the Step 1, I have to say that I am considerably less enthused with this book than most everyone else. It does do a good job of reviewing the basic points and some of the associated details. However, I found that quite a few items on my test did not appear in First Aid at all, and that overall the level of detail was insufficient. I was also using QBank and BSR and altogether they still failed to include enough material on courses taught in the first year, specifically pharmacology and cellular pathways, which were heavily emphasized on the exam. So while this book is definitely a nice point to jump off from, it could use some heavy updating.

All you need - nothing more
This book lives up to more than its title has suggested. Its extremely high-yield contents are all you need (you wonder how they know all these). Read it a few times and memorise it all (if you can) and it's a slam dunk! ... Read more

Most practical book out there.
After researching most of the books on the market for Aspergers children and teens, this is surely the most practical source on social skills training. It's not a theoretical treatise, but a user-friendly way to quickly teach relevant skills to students with AS. I recommend to parents and teachers alike.

for children under 12
this book seems to target children under 12 years of age.It has very few pointers for adolescents. this book tends to be aimed at the education profession rather than parents.

The best social skills book for our family
As a parent homeschooling a child with Asperger Syndrome, I�ve bought about a dozen books to help me teach my child social skills.This one is the most useful I�ve found.Most books on this topic are aimed only at teachers and are hard to adapt to use at home with one child; that�s not the case with this book.While the book includes instructions for school personnel and describes how to teach the skills in classrooms and small groups, it is relatively free of educational jargon and doesn�t waste too much space on things that useless to me, like reproducible handouts for the children to take home to their parents.Read more

Great Book!
I am a MA student and I bought this book to do PDR's for my classes. I am able to find all the drugs that I have to look up and it is a great book in that it's easy to read and understand when looking for the Indications, Contraindications, Dosage & Forms, etc. I recommend this book!

Simple & clear
I feel like this handheld software was worth my money - as a nursing student it is useful because it explains the action, dosage, side effects, contraindications, pharmacokinetics, and nursing considerations. It is more basic and complete than some other software that I have - in this way it is helpful for my needs. However, Mobipocket is a bit clumbsy and I wish it was easier to navigate.

Easy to use
The reason I chose to purchase these drug reference books for the county jail I work for, is that the text is very easy to use.You do not have to look in the index in the back of the book if you already know the generic name of the drug.A great majority of theprescribed medications are in generic form and this text is in alphabetical order, not by drug class, which many other texts use.My correction officers as well as I are very pleased with it! It makes our jobs much easier!

Pictures are sometimes confusing
I bought this book for the ASL class I am taking. I missed one week and tried to use the book to teach myself the missed lesson. I did not understand about a third of the diagrams on how to do the different signs. I have seen some sources with explanations to accompany signs which would have made this book much clearer.

Learning American Sign Language
This book is a good one to accompany an ASL class.It is hard to display three dimensional signs on a two dimensional picture.The aid of an instructor makes up for this difficulty.Also some of the vocabluary is not quite right for conversations.The instructor helps straighten out these conflicts.It is a good book with a lot of information as a textbook should be and that is why it is a required text for the class I am taking.

Not the best way to learn Sign language

A product of modern TCM
This text is both well-written and comprehensive in its detail of modern TCM, and also sorely lacking in the nuance and subtlety that is the heart of Chinese medicine from which modern TCM is derived.It is a useful text with which to prepare for board exams, but of very limited benefit in its contribution to a sensitive exploration of the classical approaches to health and illness that Chinese medicine offers.If this book is optional for you, I would encourage you to go hear Mr. MacIocia speak in person, and then decide if he is the scholar whose text you want at this price.

I Highly Recommed This Book
I found this book to be very beneficial to me in my studies to become an acupuncturist and oriental medcine practioner. Giovanni MacIocias' book has long been considered THE standard text book for anyone involved in the modality of Oriental Theory and Medicine.
Clarity and insight that is all too rare inan unusual and challengingtopic.
The sheer depth and breadth of the clarity and insight about Traditional Chinese Medicine that comes through this book with such ease for a reader is a wonder.Strong praise, yes; but all too often these subjects are obscure...and even good books usually only *start* to give people new to the subject insight as well as good, foundational knowledge.

need more detail
I bought this book thinking it would be a more specicfic musculoskeletal companion to Braddom's generalized PM&R textbook. Unfortunately the treatment paragraphs (most important section from my perspective) for each topic were very thin and nonspecific.They were woefully inadequate for an attending or physiatry resident.I sent the book back which unfortunately meant I didn't get to critique the DVD.

This is a terrific book. Like the previous reviewer, I am deducting a point for the films not being what they could have been.Also, the print out exercise instructions were not as good as I hoped...but still useful...

My most valued medical text

GREAT Resource Book
I am an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner working in an academic environment with Trauma surgeons and Surgical Critical Care surgeons. I am often asked to function as a First Assist in the OR. This text has greatly enhanced my understanding of anatomical structures, their location, their origins and terminations. The graphics are classic "Netter". I review the areas of our procedures and the faculty are impressed with my knowledge of anatomic locations. I would highly recommend this text for instructors as well. The CD with many PowerPoint compatible drawings are also a great resource as I teach nursing and pre-hospital (Paramedic) providers. Well worth the price.
