4-0 out of 5 stars Helpful....
After taking the NET I found this book helped me with the math portion but not with the reading portion. The reading portion of the actual exam was much harder than in the book.If you need to brush up on your math skills, this book is excellent for that. But make sure you prepare for the reading on your own. (Inferences, predicting outcomes, etc.) The guide book is very expensive for the size, but if it helps you it's worth the money.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is a Don't
This is seriously the dumbest book I ever bought.I feel so lame for buying this book.I could of spent my money on a 40oz of Schlitz Malt Liquor, had $28 dollars left over, and still been bettered prepared for the NET test. The NET test is really easy so I don't think that you would need this anyway; but if you still want to be lame like I was and buy this book I will give it to you for free plus S+H. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars It's OK.
This book does have alot of valuable info in it, however if you want to purchase a textbook that gives you quick, easy to follow facts this is NOT the book for you. I had to purchase this book for school and all of my classmates including myself complained about how hard it was to get quick, simple info from it. The explanations in this book are very complex and you have to read for a long time before finding what you want to know. Surgical Technology for the Surgical Technologist: A Positive Care Approach was the other book I had to buy for school, and it it much better than this book. I do not recommend this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Basic
I think this is a great book but it's a little too brief for what I was looking for. I needed more detail about each procedure, step-by-step. I found I had better luck with Alexander's Care of the Surgical Patient.

4-0 out of 5 stars Instructor opinion
This year I have chosen the Berry & Kohn text. I think it is an excellent choice. I use this book in conjunction with Surgical Technology for the Surgical Technologist. Berry & Kohn is more extensive and includes more detail. However, I have not been able to find a text bank or instructor guide ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the book to have
This is the book to have for anyone that has to write care plans. We all bought different books so we could share and this was by far the best out of at least 10 different books. It has everything we needed except a section on cultural sensitivity. If it had that you could not need any other book to write a care plan in school.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great reference!!
This book is fantastic for its interventions and rationales. They are relatively straight-forward and make it easier in preparing a care plan. The book is divided into sections: Adult Health, Child Health, Maternal-Neonatal Health, Geriatric and Psych. There is an appendix in the back of the book listing many medical diagnoses and the related nursing diagnoses.I would highly recommend this book to any nursing student!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have!
I have compared several diagnosis books, and found this book to be the most helpful. It offers very specific care plans for each diagnosis, and is easy to follow. This book is also published in the form of index cards, but the BOOK version offers more plans for several nursing diagnosis. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Essential reading
This should be required reading for any physician caring for the breastfeeding mother or the breastfed baby. With all of the mythology surrounding breastfeeding and the wide range of advice given to nursing mothers, it is essential that practitioners give accurate, informed advice. Reading this book will allow health care professionals to do so.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and educational for the medical profession
As a gynecologist based in Spain, I found this book extremely helpful while counseling my patients about breastfeeding, and while breastfeeding myself. I think most obstetrical textbooks do not cover enough the aspect of breastfeeding, and numerous questions remain to be answered, some as simple as: both breasts or one breast?. These simple questions, however, are an important source of stress to new mothers. Apart from that, the more "medical" aspects of the book are also exceptional. A must for all medical professionals involved in pregnancy, birth and infant care.

5-0 out of 5 stars Breastfeeding: A Guide for the Medical Profession
I am a IBCLC and work in a NICU with very small premature &/or sick newborns. As a nurse I very frequently use Dr Lawrence's book when there is a conflict with a doctor over the care of our breastfeeding babies.Dr Lawrence's book is compleatly research based and written with authority --- no touchy/feelyall professional. It is a great book to use to study for the lactation exam !!!Get the newest copy date you can find -- doctors respect new information. ... The pictures in this book are wonderful and it is not only fun for expecting parents, but also for sharing with your children once they start to ask questions about what happens inside mom when a baby is in there!

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Pictures!!
I was given this book as a gift after I found out I was pregnant. The pictures were awesome and the information very useful. My only disapointment is that 3/4 of the book is dedicated to the first 12 weeks.(I didn't receive it until I was 14 weeks) It is still amazing to see what my baby looked like as it was developing, but I wish the later months were more in depth. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars 23 year survivor
I think this is a great book, now we just need a book on finances and how to plan for lifes events like college, buying a home, and retirement planning.

5-0 out of 5 stars 18 Year Survivor and Counting!!!
I am an 18 year survivor of Osteoganic Sarcoma and I found this book to be one of the best and informative books I've ever read. I read things that I didn't even know about my disease or the long term late effects due to the chemotherapy I received. I will admit, at times it was TOO much information, but it was all factual and there were things that I read that I had to come to term with. I have an appointment at a Late Effects Clinic in a few weeks, and I am eager to get on with the rest of my life. A big Thank You to the authors who took so much time doing research and putting their own blood, sweat and tears into such an awesome project!!! Sincerely, Diane Trautman Smith

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Have Resource for Survivors!
This book is what every survivor, their parent(s) and thier doctor needs! It is comprehensive and well laid out...I love how I can easily find information on areas of concern I have regarding my son's survival. It has come in handy during follow up appointments to ensure my son is receiving the proper long term care. There is a compact card in the back of the book where all information about the child's treatment can be recorded so the child will have easy to access, concise information regarding their surgeries, chemotherapy drugs, radiation amount and type, etc. I know this will be an indispensible tool for my son as he grows up. I applaud the authors for writing a much-needed book. This book is a MUST-HAVE for EVERY childhood cancer survivor! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Helped me Pass NCLEX first trial!
Great Book to have during your course of nursing, whether you're studying for nursing finals or NCLEX.I did not take any review classes and passed NCLEX first trial with 75 questions. If you spend good amount of time studying, you can do it too!

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware!
This book and CD are full of errors!!The CD was absolutely useless. They appear to be translated from another language and many of the answers were simply wrong, or the book would contradict the answer. In addition, it wouldn't run on Windows XP.This is a waste of money, try the Saunders series, they were much more helpful.I'm surprized so many people have given this book quality ratings, if you own the book take a look at page 691 question 28, this is just one of many errors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Review while in school and for the boards!!
This book is wonderful!!I know that is has some mistakes on the math area, but I over looked that, I did not buy it to help me with the math, rather to help me pass my nursing exams.I have had this book since my second semester in nursing school. It has helped me with through all of the semesters, and then helped me pass the NCLEX!

4-0 out of 5 stars Straight A's Medical Surgical Nursing
I used someone else's book who loves it, and is doing well with all the titles going into fourth semester now. It's a quick review of materials using a margin note system for overview, and more detail on that same page. Separated by subject, it's easier to read and find specifics than some review guides that mix up all the subjects. Also good for test review, my friend said the overviews in the marjins were enough to add points at test time.
2-0 out of 5 stars There are better study guides
I bought this book because it had a CD-ROM with NCLEX-type questions. Unfortunately, the CD-ROM can't be used on computers without Windows 98 or higher. I took the disk to my college library, hoping to use the disk on one of the PC machines there, but I discovered that the disk has to be installed on the computer. Installing software on public computers is verboten at my school. This means the CD-ROM is basically worthless to me. The book itself is basically an outline of a Med-Surg nursing textbook. There are surprisingly few illustrations for a study guide.

I love this CD! It is a great way to take a break from studying, have fun and still use your precious time effectively! It is filled with humor and even gives you praise for correct answers. You can choose 3 different modes:endless lecture, problem patient, tedious textbook torture. You can then pick your content from a list of topics. Excellent analysis regarding the troubles that plague the nursing profession. Problem is - how to fix it? I'm not sure we nurses can tolerate the poor working conditions much longer...

5-0 out of 5 stars Reality 101
While of benefiit to nurses everywhere in just reminding us we are not alone, this book also reminds us how we may be our own worst enemy in promoting change.
5-0 out of 5 stars Australian nurse' reflection on a valuable text.
As I read Suzanne Gordon's account of nurses in todays world of cost cutting health care I could not help but admire her insight. While she is primarily a journalist her observations are so much of that of the nurse clinician trying to be there for the patient. Situation at my work place is identical to that of most hospitals Suzanne speaks of. This book is in the library at the university of which I am a graduate student. As an experienced nurse I would like to urge nurses entering the profession to read this volume and take heed before it is too late to make a difference.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buggy Software
The software is extremely buggy; one wrong keypress or click and it crashes, causing you to lose all the questions you just answered.
