1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid!
'Blueprints Medicine' is absolutely not enough for internal medicineclerkship rotation and for the USMLE step 2 CK - without any doubt, it's one of the worst (together with 'Blueprints Surgery') of the Blueprints series.
5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good. Use along with other books depending on purpose.
This is a fairly decent book to read during medical school medicine rotations. It is comprehensive but I found that it did not include enough detail on many topics. You will without a doubt need some other sources during your rotation."Washington Manual" and Ferri's "Practical Guide to The Care of the Medical Patient" are both excellent.I found Ferri's book to be more helpful in terms of the organization, readability, and information.I was not at LSU, but came across the "LSU Notes." If you can find the "LSU Notes" in internal medicine, they are an excellent resource as well. The medicine "Pre-Test" book was helpful when studying for the shelf exam, although not all medical schools use those.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Must for Your Medicine Rotation
If you want to learn internal medicine in a quick amount of time, pick up this book and read a chapter or two everyday. It's not that difficult. This is a must for you medicine rotation as it will allow you to get a breadth of knowledge relatively quickly. But in order to be a superstar you will need to read up from a serious reference book and/or UptoDate on your specific patients. You should do this for every rotation.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best current kinetics book.
Bauer does an excellent job of explaining the basics and details of pharmacokinetics; this book is great guide for both students and practicing clinicians. Many pharmacokinetic residents and fellows live by this book and it came highly reccommended to me by experienced clinicians.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nuts and bolts kinetics
As you read this text it becomes apparent that it was written by an in-the-trenches clinical pharmacist. It focuses on the practical application of pharmacokinetics in patient care. The text is very readable, written in an easy to follow style. The tables and illustrations are well presented, providing insight to the topic. There are chapters on aminoglycosides, vancomycin, digoxin, antiarrhythmics, anticonvulsants, cylcosporine, lithium, and theophylline. Each chapter contains practical step-by-step examples for both initial dosage determinations and serum level analysis. But you'll need to look elsewhere for pediatric pk information, application to peds is limited. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing
Anyone reading the title of this book might justifiably assume it was going to deal with the type of energy manifested in Qi Gong, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), acupuncture, Quantum-Touch and many other energy therapies - subtle energy it is often called.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Mind-Boggling New Scientific Understanding
James Oschman has done it, he's presenting us with the rare gift of abreakthrough understanding of the human condition that includes a profound new theory of the mechanisms of life, one with critically important clinical implications. In prose that reads like a good adventure story he presents with great clarity, comprehensiveness, and extensive endnotes a mind-boggling story from the frontiers of biophysics. Reading merely the introduction to this immensely important book will open your mind to a radically different paradigm of human functioning, one that is laying the foundation for more fully understanding all kinds of phenomena of living processes thatheretofore have remained insoluble mysteries.Read more

this book is very poor. do not purchase. I am an intern pharmacist and it is in no way applicable to the practice of pharmacy. Having used this book, I have no better understanding of pharmacy law. I recommend the Weisman text for CA law, as it is a better book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book!
I have always loved coconut but never knew how great it was for you. This is a wonderful book. I loved all the testimonials to each way it is used showing how others benifitted. I have already lost a little weight as well with what Bruce talks about. I loved the book and look forward to collecting all of his books. I also bought " cooking with coconut flour" another great book. :) Bruce is very talented to do so much research and still publish so many wonderful books. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars How to use coconut to treat many common health problems
It was Bruce Fife who popularized the health and medical uses of coconut oil. Now in Coconut Cures: How To Prevent And Treat Common Health Problems With Coconut, Fife goes beyond coconut oil to reveal and explore the health benefits of the entire coconut including the coconut's meat, milk, and water. Coconut Cures describes why coconut water can be used and useful as an IV solution for sick patients because it has a chemical composition similar to human plasma and therefore injected directly into the blood stream while be a rich source of vitamins and minerals. Coconut meat can help balance blood sugar and control diabetes, protect against cancer, ease painful colitis and the discomforts of irritable bowel syndrome, help with weight loss, expel intestinal parasites, improve digestive function, aid in the elimination of hemorrhoids and varicose veins. More than a simple theoretical discussion of coconut benefits, Coconut Cures provides the reader with step-by-step instructions on how to use coconut to treat an A to Z list of many common health problems. Coconut Cures is a welcome and enthusiastically recommended addition to alternative health and medicine reference collections and reading lists.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Read!
I absolutely love to read books that teach me about the goodness in the foods that are available to us; this book certainly brought me joy.Discovering the amazing health benefits of coconut meat, milk, water and oil just amazed me.Here are just a few things that the coconut can do for you; prevent heart disease, dissolve kidney stones, enhance the immune system and protect against cancer.Wow! What an eye opener.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not useful to actually learn anything
I bought thsi book thinking it would have been a great purchase to just carry around (i.e. to work) so I can do practice questions when I had time.Well as I started in the biology section I found it very odd that a couple of the questions were repeated a couple of times.I don't see the point in trying to stretch out the number of questions in the book by repeating them.Another major problem I had which ultimately made me return the book was there were multiple questions with the wrong answer.I went into the store and showed them an example. The question asked which of the following molecules has the lowest molecular weight.First they gave the wrong answer as the correct choice, but the explination didn't even match up to the choice that was supposedly correct.I found multiple questions with incorrect answers and/or explinations thus brought the book back.If you don't know the answer to a question and are using the answer key to help you learn, this book sucks.I could not be confident in any of the answers to questions I didn't know based on knowing other answers were wrong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great purchase!
Having already taken the PCAT, this book is a great way to study without feeling overloaded. The questions aren't confusing and offer nicely detailed explanations. There are also plenty of review questions for each section.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best singlenatural medicine book, I have read, which was written forboth laymen and practitioners
When patients ask me to recommend the book, most likely improve their health, Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine, Revised Second Edition, is the one I recommend, unless they suffer from diabetes, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue or cancer.I recommend Michael Murray's How to Prevent and Treat Diabetes with Natural Medicine andHow to Prevent and Treat Cancer with Natural Medicine, when they are more specific, to patient problems. The information on liver detoxification, diabetes, alcoholism, attention deficits, depression, obesity, migraines, osteoarthritis, restless leg syndrome, obesity, high blood pressure, hepatitis and prostatitis has improved our patient outcomes. We have succeeded in totally eliminating restless leg syndromes, in 2 days, using research contained in this book. The prostatitis protocols have produced 75 % reductions in nocturia. The migraine protocols can totally eliminate histamine headaches and reduce migraine pain, at least 50 %.We were able to lower an insulin diabetic's blood sugar 50 points using Gymnema, a herbal, recommended by this book. The book isthoroughly and exhaustively researched and documented. This book is readable, unlike much of the original research, published in journals. The main addition, which would make the book more complete, would be additional information about bioidentical hormone replacement.I have heard Michael Murray lecture and he isbrilliant andknowledgeable. His interest in reducing suffering is obvious.Michael Murray and his books are excellent, impressive advertisements for Bastyr College of Natural Medicine, although I have never seen him promote Bastyr College. I doubt I am the first reader or lecture attendee, whowished theyhadtime to be trained, at Bastyr College, after learning how knowledgeable their professors are.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chinese medical Qigong therapy : a comprehensive clinical gu
The author's professed purpose of writing this book was to provide information concerning the professional standards of knowledge and skill required in contemorary China to obtain a license as "Doctor of Medical Qigong Therapy," and additionally to describe effective diagnostic and therapeutic methods of Medical Qigong therapy, as established by the Hai Dian Medical Qigong College of Beijing, and thereby provide a textbook for training to that standard under the guidance of a qualified instructor. As such, it is fair to say that there has never been as thorough an explication of medical qigong as is offered in this book. It joins with other current commendable efforts aimed at bringing the traditional medical knowledge of China into the sphere of English-speaking readers. 5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Introduction to Medical Qigong
Never before in the history of Chinese Medicine has a book so comprehensive and thorough on Medical Qigong been available to the public. Written by an American Qigong doctor who studied extensively in China, this clinical textbook provides the first complete explanation of the energetic theory of ancient Chinese Medical Qigong that has for centuries eluded and confounded the West. Designed especially for the Western mind, this textbook contains over 1,125 pages of comprehensive text, and over 775 charts, photos and illustrations that provide an easily understood model of Medical Qigong Theory.
