Get the 10th edition.
I can't say that I'm pleased with the new edition. The information is grossly disorganized, there are no introductory chapters, and important information has been omitted or dumbed down, e.g. the section on fat-soluble vitamins, specifically vitamin A.
A complete Pharmacological Encyclopedia
This book is a complete pharmacological encyclopedia from its days of inception.It is useful to any physician as a desk reference.
A rehash
I am a physician, and recently used the previous (10th) edition as an overview for a presentation I was preparing on opioid analgesics.We just got our new, 11th edition, and I embarked on a comparison of the chapters.To my astonishment, despite the considerable ongoing research in opioid pharmacology, the chapters were practically identical, with the new edition providing NO substantive new information.I cannot speak to the rest of this venerable reference, but this chapter was just a rehash (and a big disappointment). ... Just a good book..
This book is a good one, but has one little problem, the book doesn't have much coherence because there are too many people writting the book. You can note the difference of redaction between the chapters because were written for different person and that's what make the book very difficult to read, because one chapters are good, but others are very bad.
Clarification about the edition
This is the 10th edition, published in 2001. Not quite as 'out-of-date' as suggested by the previous reviewer. It is, however, dificult to keep these texts current.

Good....but out of date!
"Goodman & Gilman" has been the staple of pharmacology for many years, and with good reason. While I agree with the other reviewers that it is the gold standard, in the "old days" the book was updated about every 5 years, and this one came out in 1996. Given that the book probably took a couple of years to revise, the information is close to 10 years out of date! As is stated in the Notice on p. xviii, "Medicine is an ever-changing science." Good book, but a little unrealistic at times
Overall, I really enjoyed this book.I've actually implemented much of the advice given, such as the All Natural Diet.This book has a lot of really good, useful information, and I was very enlightened on the chapters about fasting.I plan to try my first fast in the next week or so.

Pioneer Doctor
As a naturopath who works with many allergic and environmentally sensitive patients, I wholeheartedly recommend this book.In great depth, Dr. Rapp talks about the multiple factors that are causing so much ill health and suffering in our toxic world. You will need!
I spent a lot of money in shipping cost's finding a good ECG book! Nothing impressive about this book, which is why I sent it back. Don't be fooled by the title! You will to find another book if you want to understand ECG's.

Great Review Book
My initial exposure to EKGs was via Dubin.That was a great starter.But a couple of months later, I had to relearn everything again and this book really helped.Each chapter is divided into subheadings.Each subheading gives you the big picture.Then the whole chapter concludes with a recap: an EKG for each subheading.It was great.I checked it out from my library and did not buy it (if youcan, I suggest you buy it).Happy learning!

The Best EKG Book Around!
I'm a medical student, and this is the best EKG book I've found for learing EKGs relevant for students.Probably all you need for med school exams are heart blocks and MIs, but this book has all the major stuff, bundle branch/fasicular/hemi -blocks, SVTs, etc.The best part about this book is that its NOT just pattern recognition like other EKG books.It tells you why a rhythm is narrow vs wide, what's actually going on in that re-entrant rhythm, why that block looks the way it does by relating it to what's actually going on with the current, which makes you remember it better.Basically, if you just want to memorize some shapes, go use Dubin.But if you want to understand why EKGs make the patterns they do for various pathologies, then you MUST buy this book. ... Excellent resource
Even though his book could be more organized, I give Dr. Cutler five stars for his content. I have owned the book for over four years and keep referencing it over and over. It outlines a conservative and safe protocol for mercury/heavy metal detoxification.

Essential Information on Mercury Poisoning
If you or someone you love has or suspects mercury poisoning, you need this book.Mercury poisoning and amalgam illness are very controversial subjects (at least in the U.S.), and it is often hard to get thorough information on properly diagnosing and treating it.This book is a godsend for those looking for answers.
The only one that works
I was almost dead. This works. First energy came back to me for each round of detox. Then allergies lessened, joint aches went away, stomach problems decreased.. Well, poisonoed people can have hundreds of symptoms, I wont count to 100. Read his forum on yahoogroups for more info.

Great Review
These cards are concise and full of high-yield information. As a resident in emergency medicine I am mostly interested in the practical application of the meds, and I found it to be an excellent review. The vignette format is a great aid to remembering the pharmacology in a clinical context, too.

clinical vignettes are great, but the backs of these cards have the info you need.i thought the cards did a great job at hitting all of the high yield info without unnecessary filler.just took step I and was able to answer all of the pharm questions with these cards and first aid alone.

Cumbersome
I bought these flash-card with hopes of avoiding the time-consuming process of making my own.While the cards contain adequate information, I find the "clinical vingette" format cumbersome when simply trying to nail down the basics.That said, I've heard other people like these cards--so there you have it--they're just not my cup of tea. ... If you can only buy 1 toxicology reference, make it this one
I found this to be an outstanding and thorough treatment of the entire gamut of toxicology. The book is well organized, with a very logical sequence of chapters. Each chapter is authored by recognized experts in the various subspecialties of toxicology, such as neurotoxicology. The principles and model systems of each specialty are discussed in detail. This text contains no fluff. I recommend it for graduate level students and above, though ambitious undergraduates may find it useful as well. My only suggestions for improvement would be updated figures and a glossary of terms. I sometimes found that authors of the earlier chapters would use terms which were not defined until later chapters. Overall, this is an excellent reference--well worth the price.

That is a good book for the beginner of toxicologist. However, many existed errors may mislead and confuse the beginners. So I recommend that we'd wait for next edition.

statsitical genetics
There are many basic errors in statistics in this book, such as the concepts of expected value and degrees of freedom. The statistical background of the author should be very weak. From the bibliography (how many publications does the author have?) we can see whether the author is well prepared to write this kind of book.Did Dr. Ron Sederoff who wrote the foreword read the book thoroughly? If so, he should have pointed out those very obvious errors. Of course, Dr. Sederoff should not be responsible for those errors if he has no background in Statistics. I hope the author can check the book thoroughly before it goes to the fourth printing or just withdraw it from the publisher.

Beautiful job
The author of this book defines genomics as the study of whole genomes via the integration of cytology, Mendelian-quantitative-population-molecular genetics with bioinformatics and automated sequencing. It attempts to answer, the author states, such questions as to the physical and chemical requirements of genomes, the possible necessity that genes be located at certain sites to function normally, that particular DNA sequences and structures needed for gene functions, the total number of functional genes necessary for a biological system, and the homology between the DNA sequences of different species. Don't be fooled-this isn't a review book!
My med school pharm class required big Katzung, 9th ed, which was AWFUL and had pages on pages of worthless crap (unless you are an organic chemist-then enjoy). This book is just perfect. In my opinion, it's way too much for Step 1 review (use a flashcard set or First Aid) but it's perfect for an allopathic pharm class-it has everything you need to know, and very little that you don't. It also is well organized for memorization-many charts/diagrams, plus my favorite, little "Skill Keeper" boxes in each chapter that ask you a relevant question from a previous chapter, helping you to tie everything together. Each chapter also has Board style questions at the end WITH full explanations.

This book will make you think
This book is an incredible read. I highly recommend it for anyone who is concerned about the environment and their own health. This book contains a lot of research, which contributes to its credibility, however it is far from your typical scientific book. It's a fascinating read for anyone, whether they have a background in biology or environmental science or not. I actually read it as part of an extra credit assignment for one of my college classes. My original intention was to skim the book and write a summary. I became so wrapped up in the book that I literally read it cover to cover - including the forward and the afterward. I later purchased my own copy. This book is both challenging and fascinating. Read it!

eye opening reality
A great, easy to read arguement that we are creating our own demise to profit in the short term.
