excellent desk reference
This book was obviously written by scientists actually working in the field and allows the reader to gain from the writers' actual experiences in development, application and trouble-shooting of various assays. Excellent Resource
This book takes electrophysiology and breaks it down into manageable bites. I first bought this book when I took ACLS as a new grad and was scared to death of having to differentiate between Mobitz 1 and 2, etc...I also like using it with patients for the illustrations when trying to explain what "those strange blips on the monitor" mean.

Not "Incredibly Easy"!!
While this book advertises that it will make ECG interpretation "easy", it does provide the proper graphics to make this possible.The first few chapters of the book are accessible and the end of chapter quizzes are helpful.However, once you get to Chapter 3"Interpreting a Rhythm Strip", the strips are impossible to interpret due the small size of the strips!You need to be able to count the boxes to interpret the rhythms and this is virtually impossible, unless you have a large magnifying glass!I thought this might be one occurrence in the book, but it is throughout, making interpretation of strips near impossible!As a novice ECG person, this is not something that I would have looked for before purchasing the book.Other ECG interpretation books have much better graphics of the strips, making interpretation (while still not "easy") doable, and not frustrating!

The Board of Registry Study Guide is a great study helper. I have been using it to study for my weekly exams.

Great review book!
This book has definitely helped me get a good idea of the kind of questions that will appear on the actual registry exam.It is also helpful in the sense that it answers some FAQ's about the exam itself so that you know what to expect when you take the it.

Better Choices Available
This author has some good insights contained in the Author's Notes at the beginning of each nursing diagnosis.In her Notes she explains the differences between diagnoses that seem almost identical.But you can get the same insights in her smaller, more concise Handbook of Nursing Diagnosis, without the expense and inconvenience of the full-blown, padded-out version.Also, the smaller Handbook should not be your first care planning book.Instead, it's a valuable supplement that will help refine your understanding of the topic.

Waste-O-Money
Bought this book as it was 'required' for nursing courses.I suspect this is the only reason this book is ever even purchased, because it IS NOT HELPFUL!Never seen such a convoluted resource, this was the WORST.IMO, Carpenito is obviously riding on her laurels from past publications.If you are a beginning nursing student that is attempting to make heads or tails of care planning, save yourself the agony now.THUMBS DOWN!

Thereis a better choice!
I bought this book thinking it would be a bigger and better version of the spiral bound Handbook of Nursing Diagnosis.It really isn't!I feel that this book is hard to navigate through and never use it!I paid 45ish dollars for this book and think it was a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY.I do, on the other hand, LOVE the SPIRAL BOUND HANDBOOK OF NURSING DIAGNOSIS by the same author Carpenito-Moyet.I have discussed this topic with many of my classmates who also have these books and eveyone of my classmates have agreed. ... A "Must Have"
This is a great reference book to have in your library. I use it almost every day. Very well organized and complete.

Must have for physician
This was my preferred physical exam test. Use Bates as a quick intro, then use DeGowin to understand the physiology and learn the eponyms. If you read this, you can definately impress on internal medicine rounds. Classic classic classic. The next book to get would be Sapira's. After you read that, you'll be the "Classic" physician with superb diagnostic skills.
A tour de force
This book is the eight edition of a venerable work first written in 1965 by the great Elmer DeGowin, MD. Dr. DeGowin was a professor of medicine at the University of Iowa, and contributed immensely to research in transfusion medicine. Perhaps because of this, he is commonly remembered today as a hematologist, but this specialist designation, while recognizing his obvious expertise in this area of medicine, does not do justice to Dr. DeGowin's eclectic interest in migraine, trauma, thyroid disorders and many other areas of internal medicine. Bad for Care Plan Writing; Good for Understanding Nurs Dx
If I need to write a care plan, this is NOT the book to get.I don't care for its interventions, and no rationales are provided.There are better books out there (check out the Sparks & Taylor book which is 5-star rated).

Really glad I bought it!
I bought my copy from Amazon...It reached in mint condition :-). I have read only a few pages so far, but it seems to be a great book on thoracic imaging. I also talked to some of the attendings about the book and they all said that McLoud is a great author and a great radiology teacher. I am really glad I bought this book early enough to be able to make good use of it for my chest rotation.

A real guide and refrence
Dr. DeMay R M, has choosen the most specific title for this book 'The Art & Sciences. This book is informative, written in a clear format and you can acquire all Cytology knowledge through the pages.

The Art & Science of Cytopathology
It is a great book, except for the fact that I only received one volume out of the two volume set.So I paid almost $400 for something that should have cost half that unless I would have gotten BOTH of the books that were to come with it.

Healing Ancient Wounds: The Renegade's Wisdom
This book was first loaned to me. I enjoyed it so much I purchased my own copy. It does a great job of explaining myofacial release and myofacial unwinding in layman's terms. I am recovering from a near fatal car crash and a physical therapist is using these techniques to help me recover physically and release the cellular trauma of the crash through unwinding. John Barnes is a dynamic person and the book held my interest through many anecdotal stories.

Why pay for an overlong advert?
The book is interesting as a portrayal of the guy and the great work he does but lets be honest it is just one long advertorial.I also have my questions over the artist's choice of female, a rather young nubile woman, to accompany the glorifying images of Mr Barnes.

Do I say WOW now or later? - or both?
When I was first introduced to Myofascial Release (as taught by John Barnes), I had to know more.I talked my therapist into loaning me this book and read it in less than 24 hours.I was fascinated.As I read it, I knew I had to have a copy of the book for myself, so I ordered it from Amazon.I have read the book a total of 3 times now and find something new in it every time I read it.I also find that I can pick it up and open it to any page and find words that I need to hear at that moment.Recently I had the privilege of receiving treatment from the amazing therapists and John Barnes himself in his Sedona, AZ Myofascial Release (MFR) Treatment Center.It was an awesome experience.Before receiving MFR treatments from my local therapist, I couldn't do my grocery shopping on my feet.I was shopping for a wheelchair when I discovered Myofascial Release and have since climbed up into three mountains.Needless to say, this has changed my life! ...
