Pocket guide to the Operating Room
Very good handy little book. Explains all operating techniques in a dictionary format. Well worth the buy

Life saver...literally
This book is perfect for the scrub who wants to take every case but doesn't have the experience or just needs a brush-up.Even my instructors (both first-assists) recommended this book as a must-have.

Wonderful Book!!!
This book is excellent for all the new surgical technologists and ST students out there! This book lays it down in simple, almost layman-like terms but is very thorough. Everythng you need to prepare for a case you have never done is in this book. I cannot say enough about how greatly helpful this book is! It has gotten me through alot of stressful situations! If you read this book the night before or right before a case the MD will think you are the greatest thing since sliced bread because it really tells you EVERYTHING you need to know! The New Standard in EM Procedures
This book is extremely detailed and has great illustrations.I compared this book for many hours to Roberts & Hedges (R&H) 4th ed and this book blows it away.The entire procedure is fully explained (as in both books), but this book shows you numerous different locations and ways of getting the same procedure done.This seems to lack in R&H.Also, the illustrations are great.R&H uses mainly black and white photos from the 1970's/80's where the person was not even using gloves and there is a footnote in every picture to use gloves.I think R&H needs to use new updated pictures if they want to even compete with this book.The increased use of color, great illustrations with key landmarks, numerous charts, and ease of explanation make this book essential in any emergency physician's library. ... Really glad I bought it!
I bought my copy from Amazon...It reached in mint condition :-). I have read only a few pages so far, but it seems to be a great book on thoracic imaging. I also talked to some of the attendings about the book and they all said that McLoud is a great author and a great radiology teacher. I am really glad I bought this book early enough to be able to make good use of it for my chest rotation.

Well organised and well illustrated, easy to read
The authour has done a very good job of conveying the essentials of thoracic imaging in a easy to read and well illustrated single volume book. While coverage of some topics is superficial, the well organiseddifferential lists and nice images make this book a pleasure to read.Residents begining in thoracic imaging and those preparing for boards willfind this book invaluable. I will buy it
I am a medical student taking my radiology elective (finally) in the spring of my fourth year.Our department loaned the book to us during the rotation.I've found it to be one of those few books that I will actually purchase to have on my shelf at home (and I'm NOT going into radiology).It is written in a pleasing, conversational manner.The illustrations are of high quality.The discussions are at just the right level for an introduction to radiology.And there are many little "problems" presented throughout the text for the student to puzzle over.The answers are either listed in back, or turn up later in the "conversation" within a few pages.Although it seems long (over 500 pp?), it is mostly pictures.I highly recommend the book.

It is a very well written basic introductory book.This book is a must for any medical student interested in imaging.To get the most out of a radiology elective, suggest reading this book cover to cover.

Primary guide for Otoacoustic Emissions
Otoacoustic emissions are covered in this text more thoroughly than in any other I've seen, from the different types of emissions, to measurement systems, to potential uses for the data collected (e.g. UNHS, ototoxicity monitoring etc.).I recommend this textbook without reservation for all audiologists.

Excellent handbook
This book is a must for every student and clinician in ophthalmology or optometry. It should be translated in other languages too. Easy to read, guides you through the procedures step by step. Some color pictures and a couple of updates in a later edition would make it excellent.

current and concise
My LTC facility is utilizing this book as the fondation for our procedures book.The material is current, easy to read and concise.I wrote a "Procedure Manual" statement in the front on the policy book that states this book is our Procedure Manual.I had to update the Policy book and was able to get rid of a lot of outdated procedures thanks to this great book!

Fascinating but not for the squeamish
I, too heard the NPR interview when this book was released, and he said the most interesting procedure ended up not being in the book because it didn't photograph "well."It was a transurethral prostate resection (performed through a scope inserted into the penis) done on a fully conscious patient under saddle block anesthesia who conversed with him throughout.Dr. (now) Aguilera-Hellweg found that interesting partially because his mother had a saddle block when he was born and he was impressed to see its effect on this man.
A book to buy!
This book covers the topic from an artist's point of view.It is elegant and haunting in its illustration and text.It has affected me profoundly and I'm sure will do the same for all readers.

Reality is too much for some people
