5-0 out of 5 stars required nursing text
Great deal on amazon. Saved lots on a required book for nursing. Great deal from amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference Book - For Lawyers???
I work in law not medicine.I bought Taber's because of the many personal injury cases with which I was involved.People talk about legal language - nothing compares to medical terminology.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great staple for anyone in the medical field
Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary is all encompassing, defining the simplest to the most complex terms. To be honest, however, I rarely even open it because it came with access to their website for a 6 mo trial. Since I do most of my work (I'm still in school) on the computer, it's much easier for me to run a search than go get the book. Potential buyers: this is more of a "dictionary" than encyclopedia. You're not going to get long explanations but short definitions, otherwise it would be volumes and volumes long. One more thing: it's a very pretty book - well bound; having it on your book shelf makes you look like you actually might know what you're doing!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars CPT Professional Edition 2006
This book was a required text for a CPT course I am currently taking. I was impressed with the format of the book the use of color coding, the ease of reading and the overall ease of using this book. 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I'm a high school student, and I had the privilege of taking medical terminology during my sophomore year. This book was fantastic is teaching complicated topics. The flash cards are great and the outline of it is great as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Medical Terminology Resource
This book was an excellent resource for someone who has little medical background. Difficult concepts were made easy thanks to the included study aids. I especially liked the various memory tips that were given throughout the book. I would highly recommend this book for novices as well as experts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Review Book!
I used this book for the first semester of medical school. It gives a quick overview of each system of the human body as well as abbreviations commonly used. It's an easy read. A perfect complement for anyone needing a quick, but thorough, medical terminology overview.

I have the current edition (30th) and I absolutely love it! Another plus is you are given a code to be able access their online dictionary as well! It's a great book with great illustrations as well. From what I can see it is very thorough. I haven't run across a medical word yet that wasn't in it! :)I'm a new MT so I don't really have anything to compare Dorlands too, but I know that I'm hooked on it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE QUINTESSENTIAL MEDICAL DICTIONARY...
This is a comprehensive, medical dictionary that is well organized and cross-referenced. Its use is made more interesting by the inclusion of etymologies. It is not, however, for doctors only. This veritable treasure trove of information is also a boon to lawyers. All who use it, however, should read the user's guide that is included with the book, in order to maximize its value. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Language Book for Nursing Students
Amazing book, take the time to fill in all of the exercises. It takes a while but well worth it.I got an A in this class because of this!

5-0 out of 5 stars Steller book
This workbook is really great. It explains how to combine prefixes, suffixes and root words in the medical language in simple terms. If you have never ever had Anatomy and Physiology, this is the book for you.Even if you are going to take the A & P course, this would help you somewhat. The book keeps repeating what you have learned in different ways to reinforce your knowledge. The CD is good too.Really pretty easy but it's a fun tool.I only found 1 mistake in the CD so far, but I have only been through it for the first few chapters.I didn't need the rest because the book was so good.Have fun with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars For CMT exam
I used this book to prepare for the Certified Medical Transcriptionist exam.It is well-organized and makes the study of body systems very, very easy.It gives you several ways to learn the same information--pictures, words, having you write out answers in different ways.Heavy on prefixes and suffixes, which makes it easier to figure out unknown medical terms. I found the book a fabulous guide---and I passed my test, too! :D ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great learning Tool
As a Spanish 2 and 3 teacher I highly reccomend this book. I use it as a reference myself because it has great explanations and the order of the grammar structures is useful. I would reccomend getting an answer key along with the book. This is a great book to refresh your memory on grammatical structures.
5-0 out of 5 stars Un Repaso Perfecto
Repaso was used as my school textbook for higher level Spanish courses in high school.Everything is great about it.The instructions are in English which makes it even more compatable. The book is able to review old concepts, but has enough to teach the little proper things about Spanish. It is a great purchase for any student that is just learning Spanish or has been taking it for many years and needs a reference.

3-0 out of 5 stars No Answers Given Here
Although I agree that this book is certainly a bargain when compared to the standard textbook options that often cost 3-4 times as much, I was disappointed to find that no solutions to the exercises are provided. One must purchase ANOTHER book before the exercises in this book can really be said to be useful. I am a firm believer in immediate correction when it comes to language review and acquisition--spending time on exercises without knowing which you did wrong will only reinforce what are your misunderstandings of grammar. However, if you are willing (and able) to buy the solutions manual along with this book, then it will make a good review--though it won't be the bargain that it at first appeared. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Textbook
This book was required for my Medical Terminology class, but I love it.It is an excellent teacher.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Textbook!Received an "A" in my class also!
I just took this course at a local college and I thought this textbook was excellent. The materials are well laid out and the book includes many photos and drawings of medical procedures. The book includes the following sections for each chapter: anatomy, combining forms, prefixes, suffixes, terms built from word parts, terms not built from word parts, procedures, diseases, acronymns, and many excellent practice sections in each chapter. If you follow the layout of the chapters and do the practice exercies then you will do well in this class.Medical terminology is very logical and practical.Good luck!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Comprehensive and user friendly
I recently started classes to earn a degree in medical transcription. My instructor for Medical Transcription 1 recommended this dictionary and told us it's required for a class I'll be taking next semester. So I figured I would invest the money now. I also had a reference test today and wanted to get my own medical dictionary so I wouldn't have to fight everyone else for the ones in the class room. I also noticed that most of the dictionaries in the class room are out of date. I wanted something that was up to date. I found this dictionary to be incredible helpful and user friendly. There is so much information here. It is easily accessable and well organized. For the test, the instructor read the word or term orally and then we had to look up the real spelling and definition. There were twelve terms on the test and I found 10 very quickly and easily in this dictionary. I am glad I decided to purchase this dictionary. I looked at a couple of other medical dictionaries and I was the most impressed with this one.
5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!!!
This book contains so much needed information for anyone who wants to know anything about the human body. It has a world of knowledge, starting from the most simple words to the most complexed diseases. I am a nursing student and I found it to be extremely helpful, easy to read and use. 4-0 out of 5 stars useful tool of reference but...
I think the title should be changed to 'Dictionary of Synonyms and Antonyms'. The word thesaurus used here is unsuitable given that the Theseus of Greek myths was neither a great writer, philologist, lexographer or anything else related to dictionaries. This name is not used for such dictionaries in other western european languages. so why use it in English?

5-0 out of 5 stars you said "thesaurus" haha!
dude i am totally feeling this thegasaurus. not to get all neolithic on you guys or anything, but this thegasaurus really rocks, extinct or not extinct! really though, if this thegasaurus was water, man would I drink it! if it was a chick, i'd be all like, "hey, how's it going?" if it was a show that ran in real time starring keiffer sutherland, i would so tape it and watch it when i got home. that's what thegasauruses are all about man. taping. and taping means saving. please save the thegasauruses!!!! let's not let them die out again!! honestly, if the cavemen from the past were more like the geico cavemen in those commercials, they would have totally rocked and spearheaded a campaign to save the thegasauruses! come on people!!! 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Textbook for Medical Transcriptionists!
This was the required text for my second subject in Medical Transcription. It was very good and detailed enough for the beginning transcriptionist to understand where everything is, and to familiarize yourself with more medical terminology. This one seems to assume you already have a beginning foundation in basic medical terminology and how to form medical words using word parts, combining forms, suffixes, and prefixes.I say this because the first chapter immediately launches into a LOT of these word parts with very little discussion on what they are, how to do them, etc. The book has a detailed glossary of medical words, though, and it has these little cardboard cutouts that look like miniature index cards (flash cards) that will aid you in memorizing basic word parts. The book has very long and detailed exercises at the end of each chapter that builds on what you have already learned and strengthens your medical terminology foundation. It also comes with a CD-ROM that has exercises relevant to each chapter.WHen you complete a chapter exercise, the software evaluates your performance and tells you where your mistakes are, then prints out a study plan for you where you can bone up and read about your mistakes. An over-all good book! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Medical Information for semi-dummies
Have been buying this book for friends & relatives for years. After 25 yrs in the medical field, I can recommend it as a quick & useful reference"Get out the little red book" is a rallying cry in my circle.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great household reference
Definitely for non-medical persons, this is a great book to have around the house when your friends/parents/kids call with their latest ailment. 5-0 out of 5 stars Saunders Pharma ceutical Word Book
This Word Book is WONDERFUL, and definitely should be with anyone doing medical transcription! The format makes it very easy to locate drug names, and even note briefly what the drug is used for.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent drug reference for Medical Transcriptionists
This book has everything.I know that after I check my other resources, the internet, and this book, then the drug will not be found with the description provided and I know I can leave a blank without fear of being accused of doing an incomplete job.Other transcriptionists that I have worked with highly recommended this book before I bought it so I already knew I was getting the best.I cannot wait until the 2007 version comes out on CD ROM.
