Have the older version.
Used this in medical school. Excellent resource. In my time google and yahoo were not around, so this was the quick source. now that [...] is around, not as necessary, but still valuable. There is a pediatric version as well.
Great reference through the years
I have been using various iterations of Fitzpatrick throughout my 12 years of practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. The organization, wealth of information, excellent photography (it really looks like what a provider sees in a person's skin!) all make it an invaluable reference. I am pleased to see the addition of more photography involving people of color, as upwards of 50% of the US population is now minority.

Great reference
My preference overall in terms of derm texts is Habif, mostly due to organization, but this one comes in a close second.Lots of great pics and simple straightforward explanations (sometimes a little too simple).Also probably a great book for laypeople with some knowledge of medical terminology. ... THE derm book
There are several excellent dermatology texts in the market, but I believe this is the one to get, due to quality of pictures and organization.If you only have money for one, get this one!

The book rules...plain and simple
I am a busy FP doc at a military base and I see a considerable amount of dermatologic complaints.I try to take care of most of it myself (since we have no dermatologist on staff) and find this book indispensable to my daily practice.I open it practically every day.For those of you who think the 'baby' Habif is enough, it's not!Trust me, I tried to scrape by with the 'baby' version for years before I bit the bullet and bought it.The sections on acne, eczema, dermatophytosis, and rosacea are outstanding.

A good basic dermatology book
Habif is a classic. The pictures are among the best any dermatology textbook can have. Perhaps only Rassner has comparable pictures. But Habif has much more ones. The texts are well written and directed to easily and quick dermatology reference, on a basic point of view. I think it is a good book for dermatology knowledge introduction. If you want to go further on dermatology estudies, this a good firt step ,before more profound books, like fitzpatrick or Rook. ... Read more

Essential Atlas for Gross Anatomy
Although Netter's classic drawings are helpful in understanding the layout of human body systems, I find that this 6th Edition of Rohen is outstanding due to the excellent photography of professionally-dissected cadavers.It is much easier to identify complex structures on real cadavers in a Gross Anatomy lab using this reference; moreover, it is helpful as a tool to study when the cadaver lab is not open.Real bodies are much more difficult to analyze than idealized drawings--with this book, you can review before a laboratory excercise and have a more realistic expectation of what you are going to actually see.

Sigh....
Another ubiquitous book. A "must have"....i don't own one. Don't want one. Too big. People just buy it for the pictures anyway, has anyone really read the text in Zitelli's? Most people use it as an atlas to review for boards...My logic is, if you're gonna just use it for pictures, why not buy the atlas by Shah? There are other atlases out there that are less cumbersome and cheaper. Plus, do you think the pedi board people will take a picture right out of a well-known text?
Could not be better
This is the finest text a pediatrician can own for daily practice, board brush up and companion to the standard textbooks. It can fill many gaps inherent in the nature of pediatric training and is eminently relevant. If the authors never pen another things, they can be forever proud of this work. Brava.

Must-Have for anyone in Peds
This is undoubtedly a must-have reference for anyone in pediatrics.This has a great collection of color images & is well-organized.The new edition is definitely weightier, but there is more text & more diagrams.Considering the cost, it's probably not worth getting the new edition if you already have the older one.However, if you're buying, buy the new one. ... Not quite what I expected
Zollinger's features very good illustrations and notes (including postoperative care) for nearly every imaginable procedure in gastrointestinal surgery (including exotic and complex operations such as total pancreatectomy and Klatskin tumor resections), short of bariatric surgery. Truely one of the most successful books of the kind, the strucure is well designed, the operations included cover a eide range of procedures, and most noticeble is the very high quality of the explanatory figures, sometimes by just brawsing through them you get 80% of what to do... the text is well written and concise. You will find many approaches for each operation. of course it will be impossible to gather all the surgical craft in one book. but this one succeeds in collecting a large chunk of it. i highly recommend it for all juniors and postgrads alike. ... All the information you need
Lots and lots of illustrations, so it has all the stuff you need. Not easily accessible/not easy to navigate.

Good but not excellent
This is re: 10th edition.
Underrated, but truly delivers. That's what we found.
This is the review I posted regarding the Netter atlas. I cite here, because it compared the Netter atlas with Grant's. It reflects the view of somebody that really experimented on the dissecting table various atlases. In the end, our group ended up with Grant's. It really delivered for us. My review assumes you will have a thorough anatomy exam, including cadaver, x-rays, CT, and physical examination of the live human. It might be that you school will only require a written examination, in which case our experience might not be the same. However, I feel this atlas develops fundamental skills.

Excellent comprehensive textbook
We are a new program and this atlas was recommended to us highly.We have used it for two semesters and it is not only a beautiful book, but one that the students find easy to use.The radiographs and all other illustrations are the best of all the books we reviewed.We especially like the summary tables of projections, the technique charts, and the anatomy summaries.We like to point out to students that they should be familiar with many of the projections in the text that are not essential since they often are ordered by physicians.Volume 3 is superb with specialty chapters.We use this volume instead of purchasing a specials type book.The surgery and geriatrics chapters are especially good for our students.We like the CT and cross-sectional also because our students need to know CT in many of their clinical sites.The accompanying workbook is very well done also.Our students like the pocket guide that is available because it contains a radiograph and a place to write their AEC techniques.We think the atlas is a steal because we can use it for five different courses in our new program.Our only complaint is that the pages are very shiney and reflect light.MB

A beautifully done and accessible neuroanatomy text.
This is one of several books I bought while in med school studyingneuroscience. This is a beautiful text, with wonderful drawings, good useof catscans and MRIs, and an excellent layout. It helped me considerably tolearn the anatomy of the spinal cord and brain. Since I am deaf and theycouldn't deal with it in a classroom (looking down at microscopes does notmake lipreading easy or help my interpreters)...they sent me to the morguewith medical students and nursing students. This book provided thebackground I needed to do well in this situation, because the drawings wereexplicit enough to be recognizeable when presented with the real thing. Ialso use this book with deaf students who I hope to encourage to go intoscience. The drawings always get them interested enough to ask questions,and that is what good science is about. Well rounded
John H., Phd Martin constructed a well-rounded neuroanatomical textbook.The material covers every anatomical aspect of the n.s. including chapters on embryonic development and vascular anatomy.The text is continuously tied in with detailed images (ct, mri, & myelin stained slices ofc.n.s.).The reading material is exceptionaly easy for its class.Thebook gets very detailed, and will make you a leading source onneuroanatomy.Author comment: "Even though this book came out a fewyears back in '96, the material today is still very similar and they do notget any user-friendlier."

Worst book on the subject.
This was the worst purchase I have ever made.This is a poorly illustrated coffee table book on death.There is no educational value.Although it is obvious that the author (Jay Dix) had great cases during his career, they are very poorly photographed, and the publisher has done a pitiful job of reproducing them.If you have an interest in learning ANYTHING about the world of forensic pathology, this is NOT the book for you.At about a dollar per page, this book is not worth your time. ... Good atlas, could be better.
I agree with the other review in that the actual real pictures were extremely helpful yet the depiction of tracts were difficult for me to follow at times.This is a required text for my neuroanatomy course, and it served a vital purpose.I like this text and would recommend it to anyone in the field.

Beautiful pics
I gave it four stars because I don't think I could recommend this atlas as a stand-alone sole reference for someone trying to master neuro-anatomy, but I do recommend it as part of your arsenal. ok but it lacks some stuff

Simple and to the point
Excellent book for beginners.It is simple and to the point without waffle.Beautiful pictures with good resolution.
Great descriptions and pictures
I like this book for blood cell maturation pictures and descriptions.I really like the spriral binding for ease of use.The only complaint that I have is that it does not use all three origins for describing the cells, even if the infrequently used names were in parentheses, it would be better than eliminating them entirely, i.e.Proerythroblast (pronormoblast, rubriblast).I had to write all over the book including all of the naming conventions, so I thought they should have been included.

Expensive, but certainly the best illustrated anatomy atlas
While perhaps one of the more expensive human anatomy atlases, Sobotta is definitely the best illustrated atlas of human anatomy available. But remember that Sobotta comes in two separate volumes. Volume 1 having the head, neck and upper extremities; and volume 2 with everything else. So when buying, remember that you must get both books for the whole body.
