5-0 out of 5 stars Spectacular
If you thought Mapplethorpe was "out there", wait until you see this - dick after dick after dick and balls and dicks and balls. Actually, I wish I'd never seen it.Also, for $199, I bet you could just go ahead and get someone to show you theirs...come to think of it, for $199, I bet you could six guys to put ona puppet show rendetion of fiddler on the roof.I think there's a pun in there somewhere, and if so, it's fully intended.I think there was a pun in there too.And there also, which rhymes with "ball-slow" and conjures up images of cole slaw, which you'll never eat again after "reading" this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars A picture is worth a thousand words
I didn't know there was so much to learn about imaging the male genitalia. All I can say is that, from the photos in this book, they must have had to use a wide-angle lens for some of them. No wonder MRI scans cost so much. They could have titled the book, "Imagining the Male Genitalia," instead. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thanks for my gorgeous baby.
The book covers fertility options in great depth and if it only suits dummies I am not sure what that says about the many experts out there who couldn't seem to solve my problem. It gave me questions and answers that the experts couldn't and after 8 years trying and many $ spent and with my biological clock about to expire - this gave me what I needed to ask the right questions, get the right tests and surgery done, and finally fall pregnant ! You've nothing to lose by reading it and checking if there is anything you might have missed elsewhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Good IVF Resource
My Husband & I were getting ready to be thrown into the IVF arena. I had been looking for a resource book to help us through this daunting process but just couldn't find the right one. I went to the book store every weekend and kept picking up the same old ones trying to convince myself that "it would do" but the information just didn't seem to go into depth on the massive (expensive) subject I needed them too. Then came cycle day 1 and I called my doctor only to find out the IVF lab was closing in the next 2 months due to construction at the hospital where it is housed - we got thrown into IVF much quicker than anticipated. We went into the doctors office and got the specs on our individualized plan and the injection lessons but still came out feeling completely overwhelmed. I went back to the bookstore to pick up one of the other books I had been looking at just to calm down a little bit when I found this one. I have found it to be a very good resource if you are getting ready to go through IVF. I felt a lot more informed about the process which helped my anxiety to subside and believe me, going into this more worked up than you have to be is not a good idea :) The authors did a great job explaining the IVF process. The only areas I wish they had gone into more detail is on injectibles and labwork. They do touch on these subjects, I just wish they had gone into even more detail. But overall a very good resouce for IVF. Thank you ladies from a grateful (hopefully successful) IVF patient.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Resource for Newbies/Family
If you're new to the maze of fertility treatments, this is a good resource. It's also helpful to give to family members who have questions about what you are going through, because if you're like me, you'll grow tired of discussing with your parents the mechanics of artifical conception! :) When you first begin treatments, I would recommend reading this resource between doctor's visits so you better understand the treatment plan and options. 5-0 out of 5 stars A book every woman should read
I read the book "A Woman's Guide to Natural Hormones" and was so excited to finally pull together so many health problems that I've been experiencing!High cholesterol, osteopenia, insomnia, lack of sex drive and sensation, depression and on and on.I had been going to my general pracitioner and gynecologist and neither could explain or cure my problems. They just added more and more medicines, each with its own set of side effects and multiplying my frustration and discomfort!
5-0 out of 5 stars Best book for making an informed decision
This is an excellent book with up to date information on natural and synthetic medications.Written in layman's terms, it is well laid out and includes a wonderful question and answer section. I wish I had found it sooner.

5-0 out of 5 stars A look at the future
The accomplishments of Baker & Bellis, summarized nicely in this textbook treatment, are stunning and underappreciated.B&B present a strong case that our reproductive physiology and behavior evidence a degreeof adaptive, strategic sophistication that should both thrill and embarassanyone who holds an evolutionary view of human behavior.5-0 out of 5 stars Very stimulating
An absoluting fascinating book.Although not all the conclusions and suggestions are entirely plausible (or at least not well explicated), the thrust of the book makes itself felt.So to speak.

2-0 out of 5 stars not worth the money
The main disappointment with this book was the lack of actual meal plans and recipes.Nearly 2/3rds of the book is given over to advice about exercise, emotional health, etc-- good stuff, but also stuff that's covered better in several other well known books. There are really only a few pages given over to how to actually eat. This plan is also based on Atkins principles, and though it is much more flexible and reasonable, it would be quite difficult to follow for vegetarians and veggie friendly options are not provided by the authors. This book is mainly of interest to women with PCOS who need more general lifestyle information. Women with endo and other issues, or people who are looking for more concrete nutritional info, meal plans, etc should look to the Healing Gourmet book on fertility. It has a similar approach (to insulin resistance) but provides concrete suggestions for meal planning.

4-0 out of 5 stars An alternative couples can try at home before/with expensive fertility treatment
The gist of this book is that insulin resistance--a condition that can be pre-diabetic, and a condition that can be MODERATED BY PROPER DIET--impedes fertility. The book describes that problem and proposes a solution.

4-0 out of 5 stars great review for CREOG
Great book..wonderful quick guide to everything you need to know fast!
3-0 out of 5 stars Could be better...
For this book, you need a magnifying glass to read it! The print is way too small. It's okay to use when accompanied with a textbook but not great on its own. Additionally, I think it's out of date and not up to ACOG standards. Of the entire 5 week rotation, I picked up this book once!

5-0 out of 5 stars review
best little book I had as a resident, comes in handy at least once a week as a community-hospital-based FP.

2-0 out of 5 stars not the best I've read
I read 3 books on this subject, and this was my least favorite out of all three.I found it a bit negative and reading it almost made me more focused on the negative aspects of infertility. The information was good, but not as good and not as easy to navigate as other books I've read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good resource
I purchased this book related to infertility along with a couple of others.I started reading from the beginning (which details the author's experiences) and had to put it down. It was very difficult for me to read about the author's personal experiences because she went through a lot. However, while I was going through my own IVF cycle, this was the book I relied on most.Of all the books I have purchased, this book had the most relevant information (what do E2 levels mean, why progesterone levels are important, etc). After scouring the internet and other books for answers to a question I had, I would find that this book at least addressed my question. It is not a complete reference book (I don't think it was meant to be) and doesn't answer everything in great detail but it came the closest.(Of course, it would be nice if most REs took a little time to explain things to their patients...)

4-0 out of 5 stars good
A great book overcoming the terrible news of infertility. At times like these a man needs all the support he can get and needs to have his spouse and friends near him to help him cope with the news. A great book, structured well, but i found out more information and possible treatment in the book [...], one of the best books on the subject i have ever read ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good info for all men and women.
Not sure what I expected, but I did find the presentation thorough, helpful and logical.Much of the general background can be found in other soucebooks and the internet but it was useful to have the information all in one location. The author did help me to identify long-standing posture problems as related to lower back pain.As a manual for structure and function, the book is very good; the sections on pelvic movements are very clearly explained.Unfortunately, the references to Rolfing and bodywork seem too vague

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical, informative, fascinating
This is a superb book. It is written particularly for Rolfers, but is essential reading for any other body worker as well. Since studying this book on my own, I have become much more confident doing pelvic massage with male clients. Having detailed knowledge of the underlying structures allows me to explain to men what I'm doing and why. Clients can be informally instructed at the same time they are made more comfortable with touch in this area. For this reason, the book is valuable for all men who want to learn about their own bodies.5-0 out of 5 stars Penis, Male Pelvis and Pubic Area:Explored in Depth
The author has written an intelligent, frank and provoking book about the area of the body least talked about in an intelligent, frank and provoking manner. I consider this book essential for anyone in the "body work" field. It is a well written authoritive work by a scientist well versed in anatomy, physiology, and somatics. An excellent and important book for any Medical Doctor, Psychologist or Physical Therapist yet easily understood and enjoyed by someone with a less scientific mind. In fact, I consider this book a "MUST READ" for P.T.'s, Massage Therapists, and all body workers, consultants and trainers who work with men. I would also consider this book an excellent primer for any one (woman OR man) involved in a sexual, romantic, or loving relationship with a male. It is the equivalentof the famous "Our Bodies Our Selves" only about men. I recommend this book with highest praises! ... Read more
