There is great, easy to access information in this pocketbook not only on the subject of Gyn Onc, but also on the medical management of patients, which is so important in the practice of Gyn. This handbook is concise, yet packed with the kind of information you need at the bedside, on rounds, or in preparation for the OR.Several of the sections have clear tables which make quick reference possible.And the procedures section provide clear step by step instructions for most all cases.

A lot of theory and little substance
This book tries to establish a relationship between your frame of mind and your ability to conceive.While stress may not help your chances I do not believe that somehow something in your past blocks an egg from being fertilised just like that.No evidence is provided that this happens.
The Whole Person Fertility Program
I whole-heartedly recommend this book and its results. In addition to reading this book I went through about two years of therapy with Niravi, which changed my life. I think the readers who interpreted what she is saying with the attitude that if you don't get pregnant by following what she suggests, that it's all in your mind, and it's your fault, have it all wrong. That is exactly the thinking that I was stuck in, and had created as a self-blame mechanism that I carried around with me all of my life. Her goal is not to have you blame yourself, but to look at your life and try to understand how and why you have come to have the beliefs that you do, which may not be your fault at all. They can be very strong family influences, work influences and society influences that keep you and your mind locked in patterns of behavior that affect how your body responds to stress, illness or disease. I believe the mind has a huge affect on your health and how well your body works, and I believe medicine is only just starting to catch on to this idea. That is the basis for Niravi's program. I finally examined how I was really living my life and whether that way was compatible with what I was saying was my goal to have a baby. My life was not compatible with having a baby before I worked with Niravi. I tried for 10 years to get pregnant. I finally forgave myself for all the mistakes and failures, but it took a long time to do. I am now 7 1/2 months pregnant, which I had not expected to happen. I give a lot of credit to Niravi for helping me stop blaming myself and to get on with my life. Hope she can help you too.

Not for everyone
I purchased this book since I haven't been able to conceive after many years of trying, and it was recommended in "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom". I believe in the mind/body connection but there is an inherent risk in focusing on this: we feel even MORE guilty when we don't conceive since it MUST be in our minds! Excellent for veterinary students.
I am a current veterinary student and this book is a necessary reference for small animal anatomy courses. It is very informative and covers all of the anatomy of the dog. Most diagrams are from the more expensive Millers Anatomy of the Dog.

Pros:It is easy to read, not incredibly boring, when it provides good information, it does so in an easy to understand way.
Nice companion for Miller's Anatomy of the Dog
Overall, I found this to be an excellent book for small animal (technically dog only) gross anatomy.I say small animal, but I find myself referring to this text even when studying large animal anatomy.Reason--I like how the text very clearly indicates proximal and distal muscle attachments for all major muscles and specific nervous and arterial supply to all major muscles.Read more

TRANSGENDERED EVALUATION
I found this book to be very informative and interesting. But, it is written in medical clinical terminology too much, which is too deep for the average person. There could have been more exposure on the power of phytoestrogens and the power of positive suggestion; in order for the male to feminize his body and mind that much more. All medical doctors are partial to what they know, and also they are very pedantic. Also, there could be more positive encouragement of feminization with the general male population.

You can't judge a book by its cover
Sheila Kirk's editorial review here at Amazon wholly misrepresents her book Feminizing Hormones for the Transgendered.By failing to identify her intended audience in her product description she oversells what she has to offer.The book is at best a fair basic primer for those who might be considering beginning hormone replacement therapy, or for someone merely curious about it, but it's of little use to anyone who has already begun HRT and is looking for hard data to help understand lab results and an endocrinologist's actions.

Interesting but inconclusive

Good, if you are mainstream...
... but if you are planning an out of hospital birth or a birth with midwives, it's not quite as peachy. There is an illustration of mom at the doctor's office getting checked out early on, a reference in the text to her seeing the doc when baby drops, and then she rushes off to the hospital to push and push in the final pages. No room for birth center or homebirth,the midwifery model of care or self-care. Good for toddlers
Our 2 1/2 year old loves it.It's the only good book we've found that demonstrates what's going on during the pregnancy, as opposed to when the child is already old enough to play with the sibling.

Not the best book for preparing toddlers
I ordered this book, along with several others, to help prepare my 2-year old daughter for the arrival of her new baby sister. The best IVF book available
This is the book that became my bible as I went into advanced infertility treatments. I finally found the information that I was looking for on what it was truly like to go through a cycle of IVF. I copied the diary that is in the book and mailed it to my family so they also knew what to expect. This was the book where I found all the information that I was searching for to help me know what to expect and to help me make the decision to undergo IVF.

Both my children enjoy this book. It helped answer some concerning questions in our house. I think the part of the ovaries and the male insides could have been left out. I thought that was a little over board. All in all they do enjoy reading and looking the pictures.

great book for my curious 4-yr-old!!
My 4-yr-old learned that boys and girls have different body parts a few months back and with his discovery came a slew of questions that became increasingly more difficult for me to answer.This book helped SO much.It talks about the reproductive organs of boys and girls in a very simple, direct manner and also has simple illustrations for kids to better understand.

Great for coping skills
This book was great for coping skills when it comes to the ups and downs of infertility.I learned a lot of techniques to lower my stress level.
Very Helpful
I didn't realize how much of the stuff that I was going through other people were also.Some of the anger I have been feeling I have been trying to supress because I thought I was the only one feeling that way.It is really nice to know that other women are feeling the same way and all the reactions I've had others have had also.With something as personal as infertility you don't always get the support you need.I'm no closer to being pregnant because of the book, however, I am going to be able to keep my sanity and my marriage.I hope that others read this book and realize that what they are feeling is okay and it is okay to take control over what the doctors are telling you they are going to do with YOUR body.God Bless.

Hmm...Peyote Suppositories and LSD for Babies? Like Far Out? Like OH NO!
Here, presented in a gentle Earth mother (or stoned-out hippie?) tone, is a lot of interesting information about self-medicating with herbs, especially as related to sexual, pregnancy and birth issues.
Manual for truly living in the Feminine
I first received this book as a gift in the early 80's from a wonderful free spirit living on the beach. I was so attracted to this wild woman who seemed to be the exact opposite of all that culture expected me to be. I remember sitting in the beach over several days reading it cover to cover... it was as if I was spending my days with an old friend. I could feel something within my deepest being becoming awake, aware... My intuition told me to hold fast to my copy which I read many times over the years. I fell in love with being a woman and having the power to control my own health, energy and vitality. Visually, this is a stunning book with artwork and graphics, borders and creative usage of fonts that make the reader feel as though she has stumbled upon a written treasure, secret knowledge gathered over the course of hundreds of years - passed down for hundreds more. I have used herbs my entire life and I've come to realize that herbs are not to be used for specific "treatments" but rather for whole living. Fills a void on herbal healing....
When HYGIEIA-A WOMAN'S HERBAL by Jeannine Parvati was first published in July 1978, it filled a void. Much of what she had to say needed to be said.If you're interested in historical artifacts (how dumb we were), this book is a good read. I believe much of Parvati's text will interest most contemporary women-at least women who have difficult questions and want to know more about the female body. Two decades ago, many of us fit that description as most medical research was conducted with male subjects. Most of what affected the female body was not discussed in public or even in books.In spite of their notoriety, Master's and Johnson didn't cover this stuff and I doubt Dr. Ruth did either. Imagine your deepest secrets about your body, those things you might not be able to discuss with your best girl friend without difficulty. Well, Parvati is the girlfriend you never had.Read more

i read this book for usmle prep...it was pretty good...but had way too much information for usmle 1....i would reccomend using FA's embryo section as a guide...and read only sections in high yield that are represented in first aid(FA)...over all decent book...but overkill for usmle 1...

Great summary!
This book nicely complemented my Gross Anatomy and Embryology class and reiterated/clarified concepts that were conveyed in lecture.It also portrays great pictures of actual clinical cases.I would highly recommend this book to anyone!
