Offensive, 'blame the victim' tripe
So ... I now learn that the infertility problems I had for many years, which I always thought were due to polycystic ovaries and failure to ovulate were ACTUALLY due to the fact that I hate my husband, didn't want to have children with him or was simply ambivilent about motherhood.

I absolutly love this book.The one thing I have to say against it though is the new cover.I think they should replush another version of it with the original cover.I would make it less clincal feeling

Bias Was Off-Putting
Dr. Northrup provides women with practical information about their bodies, stages of life and medical procedures.However, I was appalled by her bias against Western cultural heritage and Christianity.Her views on those topics were extremely unbalanced, with no acknowledgement of their positive contributions to culture and women.As a Catholic whose best teachers were strong-minded, compassionate religious sisters, I felt offended by her slur against nuns.I am aware that not everyone feels the same way about their religious upbringing, but I would expect an academic to strive for some balance in their research. ... Most useful gynecologic surgery textbook on the earth
This book is very useful for my gynecologic surgery learning period and just like a friendly teacher on my hand !!!
The "Bible" for Gyn Surgery

Helped me pass the OB/GYN section.
All told it was well worth the money. The cd aspect of it was great , it was the best way for me to learn. That said I was dissapointed that the questions were exactly the same ones as in the book - I really had thought when I bought it I would be getting more of a database to chose from , much like the ARDMS. There was a question asking if the uterus pictured was antiverted, retroverted, etc. and it was a picture of the liver and rt. kidney. But again , it helped me and was a good addition to the (I agree) big yellow waste of money. How was the Abdomen part of it? Don't know , don't care right now either , you only need one specialty and the P&I to be regestered. Good luck to you all on this most difficult of endeavors.

A Great Resource
Ths book is a great resouce for every woman. I thought I was well educated in this area, but there was a lot in here I didn't know. It's very easy to read and well documented. A must read whether you're healthy or having V health problems.

Indespensable
This is without a doubt the most informative and insightful piece of work ever written on the subject. My best description is that it is the most definitive owner's manual on the vulva and vagina ever published. An indispensable reference that should be provided by all parents to their daughters.

Great book to explain V issues
OK, This is a very private thing for most women - so when you hear your Dr say you have something and you just dont feel like surfing the internet in the hopes of getting comprehensive information and not a lot of blogs and trying to figure out if the person is qualified to write that stuff - well dont waste your time and just get this book.It's long but in reality you can go through it in a night or two because you will know what you are looking for but you can be assured that it will be there for any other issues.It's comprehensive, pictures to help with the understanding of terms, treatment options, etc.I am not going to be into specifics.Just know that you will NOT need another book about v issues after this one (VVD, VBS, menopause, and a ton more...yeast infections, UTI, all type of other infections, bumps...just know it's in there) ... Sexual Assault
This is a wonderful book for individuals who are examining patients who have been sexually assaulted. Shows normal anatomy and variations, including non-sexual injuries. As a Nurse Practitioner and a new Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner I find this book to be an excellent reference. It had been recommended to me by the educational coordinator of the SANE course I took.

A book every woman should read
I read the book "A Woman's Guide to Natural Hormones" and was so excited to finally pull together so many health problems that I've been experiencing!High cholesterol, osteopenia, insomnia, lack of sex drive and sensation, depression and on and on.I had been going to my general pracitioner and gynecologist and neither could explain or cure my problems. They just added more and more medicines, each with its own set of side effects and multiplying my frustration and discomfort!
Best book for making an informed decision
This is an excellent book with up to date information on natural and synthetic medications.Written in layman's terms, it is well laid out and includes a wonderful question and answer section. I wish I had found it sooner.

Good info for all men and women.
Not sure what I expected, but I did find the presentation thorough, helpful and logical.Much of the general background can be found in other soucebooks and the internet but it was useful to have the information all in one location.The author did help me to identify long-standing posture problems as related to lower back pain.As a manual for structure and function, the book is very good; the sections on pelvic movements are very clearly explained.Unfortunately, the references to Rolfing and bodywork seem too vague

Practical, informative, fascinating
This is a superb book. It is written particularly for Rolfers, but is essential reading for any other body worker as well. Since studying this book on my own, I have become much more confident doing pelvic massage with male clients. Having detailed knowledge of the underlying structures allows me to explain to men what I'm doing and why. Clients can be informally instructed at the same time they are made more comfortable with touch in this area. For this reason, the book is valuable for all men who want to learn about their own bodies. Penis, Male Pelvis and Pubic Area:Explored in Depth
The author has written an intelligent, frank and provoking book about the area of the body least talked about in an intelligent, frank and provoking manner. I consider this book essential for anyone in the "body work" field. It is a well written authoritive work by a scientist well versed in anatomy, physiology, and somatics. An excellent and important book for any Medical Doctor, Psychologist or Physical Therapist yet easily understood and enjoyed by someone with a less scientific mind. In fact, I consider this book a "MUST READ" for P.T.'s, Massage Therapists, and all body workers, consultants and trainers who work with men. I would also consider this book an excellent primer for any one (woman OR man) involved in a sexual, romantic, or loving relationship with a male. There is great, easy to access information in this pocketbook not only on the subject of Gyn Onc, but also on the medical management of patients, which is so important in the practice of Gyn. Oncology. The medical management section is broken down by systems (e.g., neuro, pulmonary, etc.). Resident's perspective
This handbook is concise, yet packed with the kind of information you need at the bedside, on rounds, or in preparation for the OR.Several of the sections have clear tables which make quick reference possible.And the procedures section provide clear step by step instructions for most all cases.

I wrote this handbook to be as a practical guide for residents/fellows/ students and other clinicians in taking care gyn onc patients.Gyn onc patients are unique in the sense that they are surgical patients but usually with many medical problems (HTN, DM, COPD,etc).Thus, this handbook was written more like a combination of the surgery handbook + the Washington manual.my residents and fellows at UT Southwestern/Parkland and UTMB especially found the complication management section to be helpful in taking care their sick patients in the middle of the night.The chemo section is as update it as the GOG manual. I kept the book small enough to be pocket size, thus, easier to carry around.Read more
