BUY THIS BOOK if you never buy anything else...
It's so refreshing to read a book that doesn't preach "diet". It's a vicious cycle. What we eat affects our mood and our mood affects what we want to eat!!
Decent Nutrition Overview
This book is an overview of nutritional and dietary practices, and how they can affect your health, particularly your mental well-being.It is organized into two main sections: The Food-Mood Link, and Nutrition Know-How.In the first section, there are separate chapters about such topics as blood chemistry, carbohydrates, fats and chocolate, and dietary affects on energy levels, PMS and SAD, depression, stress, thinking and memory, as well as chapters on food allergies and intolerances, and eating disorders.The second section presents advice on healthy eating habits for positive mental well-being, with chapters on shopping and supplements.At the end of the book are a glossary, a short section of recipes, a list of organizations devoted to specific diet and health concerns, references organized by chapter, and an index.

Not quite my cup of tea.
I like the concept of making weight loss more of a spiritual journey, but Chumley's religious approach is a little more than I can accept.I think if you are really at rock bottom regarding your weight, or if you are quite religious to start with, this book is more likely to be helpful to you.On the plus side, it is simple to understand, concise and well-written.Not a bad read, and has some helpful bits even if you're unable to accept the entire book as a new way of life.

Insufficient detail to be of much use
The typesetting of this book makes it very difficult to read. It appears to be a scan of a typed page. In any event, although it does summarize some of the basics of medical device design such as design controls, the design file, submission of an IDE/510(k)/or PMA, it does not give enough detail to be of any use. Pass The Black Cherry Juice
I shouldn't be commenting on this, since I have not read the book. I don't know if I'm repeating information from the book, but as a Gout sufferer, I feel compelled to mention that black cherry juice or concentrate helped relieve the pain in my toe and ankle. Your mileage may vary, but Google it and there seems to be plenty of anecdotal evidence that it works.

One of those great small books.NOT snake oil.
This is an excellent concise but comprehensive book on the gout for the lay reader. It would be better not to have gout, but if you do need to manage it, this is the best book I've seen.The size, title and the photo on the cover gave me the impression that the book was likely to be simplistic and wrong.In fact, it strikes a good balance between readability and detail.It also turns out that Dr Emmerson has published quite a few papers on gout in serious peer reviewed journals.

GREAT BOOK - NEW GOUT SUFFERS MUST READ!
If you have gout then READ THIS BOOK ASAP - This is the only comprehensive guide to GOUT I could locate.Excellent reference if you want to understand all aspects and possible causes.I ask lots of questions and this book answered 99 percent of my concerns. A thick book which could be much thinner
Working in optics, I purchased this book to get a wider scope of scanning techniques and possible optical schemes. The book is thick, up to eight hundred pages, and expensive. So, I expected a variety of optical schemes for laser/optical scanning. But I was disappointed with a great amount of topics, filling this book, which do not relate to scanning. For example, the chapters about M2 model, optical disk technology, image quality for scanning, are interesting in general but have rather distant relation to scanning. The chapter about motors and controllers is interesting, presenting the state-of-art of this technology, but it is overfilled with large, up to a page size, pictures which do not contain any information. For example, several pictures of printed-circuit boards with a great number of indistinguishable electronic components could be easily removed without any harm to the book. Also I doubt that pictures of standard diamond turning center, thin film deposition chamber, and other conventional industry technology are of any interest for professionals. At the same time such topics as infrared imaging scanners, reconnaissance systems, MEMS scanning/switching devices are completely ignored, as well as the rotating wedges technology. Summarizing, the size of this book could be made much smaller and the price lower without any loss of information. ... Read more

Nutrition change
The book is good except it makes you wonder why do we bother with it since the nutritional pyramid changed anyhow.It was great to find that book covered some healthy suggestion to lower down cholesterol (like different non-hydrogenated vegetable spreads, however, SmartBalance was not included for some reason).I guess next edition will cover all the changes that happened this year.Will this edition be worth reading again?! ... For nutrition's sake, keep this book next to your stove.
This book is much better than its reviews would suggest and is indeed essnetial reading for anyone concerned with nutrition and ways to eat more healthily in today's toxic world. We lve surrounded by poison. Or maybe a better way to put it is, there are a few wet green grapes in the barbed wire or today's fast-food paradise. And thia book teaches you how to go for the gusto.

Excellent- a masterpiece
This book has truly vastly surpassed my expectations. It has several indexes- one comprehensive index, one for drugs, one for nutrients and the drugs that affect them, monographs on all the nutrients, and then the piece de resistance, the abstracts of the medical literature to back it all up. An exceptional book on Vitamin C
Dr. Levy did his undergraduate work at Johns Hopkins, studied medicine at Tulane and wound up teaching cardiology at Tulane.Then, to paraphrase his words, he began to think about what he was doing, and has written some truly exceptional books about medicine, which I have seen leave a DDS in awe.
This is not what I thought
This is basically Levy's "term paper" on Vitamin C.

Having seen vitamin c infusions first hand,having witnessed complete remissions of Brain tumor,malignant melanoma,and adenocarcinoma,having used sodium ascorbate on my asthmatic daughter to stop her coughing at night when she had a cold, having crusaded for Linus Pauling to the condemnation of my medical colleauges,this book is a wonderful compilation of data that strongly implicates the AMA as being negligent in their oath and responsiblities.Read more
