This is a great textbook!A brilliant summation of dental implantology and restoration of implants.The text is incisive, ultra-modern, and is the product of a master thinker who understands his craft with brilliance bordering on genius.The author has written a text that is very rare in that it can impart a brilliant intuitive understanding of its subject to the reader.Most dental textbooks fail in this regard.One of the best dental textbooks ever written.Excellent illustrations and influential text that will provide the reader with a strong intuition about implantology.A truly evidence-based text, where the author takes great pains to cite just the right study to illustrate the right concept at the right time in the text.A welcome departure from much of the drivel that passes for dental scholarship nowadays. ... Excellent book - But it could use a "cosmetic" update
Good subject coverage, knowledgeable author, and plenty of uncluttered figures makes this book very worthwhile.The only thing missing from this excellent book is an update.Although this is the third edition (1998),almost all of the equipment photographs are from the early-to-mid 1970's. An extensive and broad Suggested Reading section follows most chapters butagain far far too many references are to early 1970's books and manuals. An update could earn this book a 5+ rating. ... A Masterpiece in Biomechanics!
What I would say is not a comprehensive review of what the great book talks, but just telling you a truth: if you have engineering and mathamatics background and wanna combine your background to do research in physiology, Fung's book is absolutely a must-buy. This book is profound, but it is actually rooted in nearly all fields of biomechanics research. Simply the Best
Fung takes a continuum mechanics approach to the principles that underly the human body.All of the ideas in the text are backed up with solid research and easy to understand equations, as well as text descriptions.Fung is also responsible for researching many of the ideas of biomechanics,and so, the text takes on a personal view not found in other books. All inall, the best book out there for introductory biomechanics, but one thatyou will use for the rest of your life. ... Read more

Better than expected
Not for the clinician, radiologist, or beginner MRI engineer. I agree with previous reviewer that the book resembles a set of notes, but they are excellent notes if you already know your MRI physics. The book is therefore nice to have for an overview, or reminder of a particular application (the preface *does* say "not meant for making a first acquaintance with MRI"). The images are quite acceptable (3rd ed) and well-chosen to demonstrate the ideas. Not 5 stars because the notes *are* too brief sometimes (another reviewer said shallow), making it impossible to fully understand, let alone implement, SENSE or Shinnar-LeRoux, for example, from just these notes.

A good MRI introduction book
This is a good book for introducing MRI basics for non-experts. advanced scanning methods are discussed also.The applications section is very good and the references arevaluable.

With my fullrespect to the Auther of this book
Poor images,Poor Graphics and shallow content! This book is not for any proffessional in the field of clinical MRI. I can say that this book is just a collection of short notes designed for Philips engineers. The price (almost $80) of this book does not match the quality of content, the quality of images and the graphics as well ( hand drawing & illustration). If you are philips engineer think twice before you buy this book otherwise think 100 times to buy it for 80 $. ... Read more

Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging Inside Out
This book is a good mix between overview physics for the clinicians and details for ultrasound researchers. It has been invaluable to me for teaching the residents the physics behind non-linear harmonic generation and contrast agents (Chapter 12 and 14) for example. It has good images and examples showing the advantages of harmonic imaging and imaging with contrast agents over standard fundamental imaging. It has also been good for research details with equations and has a comprehensive set of references -- helpful for doing research in the area. An Introduction to Tissue-Biomaterial Interactions
This is a very good undergraduate level textbook for studying the events that take place during wound healing. It assumes no previous knowledge of biology, which is very good for engineering students. The text is also very intuitive and didatic, making it easy to follow. Many b&w images and photos illustrating the explanations given in the text.
