This is a good book overall, if you can handle what is otherwise a very dry read.There aren't many textbooks for critical care out there like this one and because of that it is an invaluable resource.Nonetheless, it is very hard to read through and could use some spicing up.Read more

Mediocre at best.
I took my initial EMT class with the Brady text... very in-depth and full of information (and about twice the size of this one).
Excellent Reference Manual
This is really a reference textbook for the education of new EMT's, butthe information it contains is complete, concise and extremely up-to-date(important in a field that is changing ALL the time!) Good reference for the EMT
This text is traditionally seen in the classroom, however not all EMT classes utilize this text and some technicians may not be familiar with it.In essence, the text is designed to provide the necessary knowledge tobecome an Emergency Medical Technician.Read more

A must for operative notes
If you do operative notes, this reference is a must. I use this book more than any other word book.

Not much new since last edition
I purchased the 4th edition and gave away my 3rd edition to a friend.Unfortunately, I didn't make a list of my own add-ins, thinking that they would be included in the new edition.However, there are countless words that are not in the new edition that our doctors are using.This book is a must-have for anyone without a good equipment book, but I would recommend that anyone with the 3rd edition wait for the 5th edition and hope that it will be more complete.

An updated classic
A review on this page refers to this book as being "outdated."Well, that reviewer needs the latest edition, obviously.Stedman's puts out a new edition of each of its books every three years or so, and I get the feeling the other reviewer was looking at a 1998 edition. A concise review of problems that aviators may face
This is a very good fundamental book on the basics of medical problems and their impact on aviators.As a flight surgeon in the Air Force, this book is a must have in my arsenal of knowledge.If you are a flight surgeon or in the field of aerospace medicine at all, this is a good book to have for reference.This book does not go into detail about diseases themselves, but rather the impact that they may have on individuals who fly on a regular basis.For a much more detailed, comprehensive approach to things I'd recommend The Fundamentals of Aerospace Medicine by Dehart. ...
