Handy book
I purchased this book to back me up in my clinical year instead of carrying the big and great Tintinalli's "Emergency Med."I think this little version does a good job in giving a concise information on emergency medicine.

Good for rounds
Great resource to have when making rounds. Didn't seem as indepth as I would like it to be in some places.Good refresher kind of book, with other resources handy for more indepth information.

Great Tool for a ER rotation
So far, the Emergency Medicine Manual has been a great asset to have while doing my ER rotation. It fits conveniently into my coat pocket and after seeing a patient, I can quickly read up on whatever I suspect is main diagnosis, and therefore appear smart when I am being pimped by a resident or an attending. This book was good but not terrific. after reading best sellers like Why we want you to be rich by Donald TRump and God Doesn't run a $2 Shop by Sage Saint Francis i found that this book just was not in the same leauge.

The ultimate textbook on practical organic synthesis
It has the most trustworthy procedures for the synthesis of organic compounds with the underlying philosophy behind the reactions complete with the mechanism. Even briefly described procedures are easy to follow. An example in point is the Swern's oxidation. It also includes characterization of compounds using both chemical and spectroscopic methods thus covering the whole spectrum of practical organic chemistry. Almost all the other information to be required by an organic synthetic chemist in the laboratory is also included. I do not know of any other single book that can rival the Vogel. I, however, would very much like to see a moderately priced new edition.

good text, forbidding price
The book is very good for reference, yet it is too expensive for graduate students. I would also suggest taking $$$off, relative to March's and C&S's good text, this one is really forbidding.

WHY MARRIAGES SUCCEED OR FAIL: AND HOW YOU CAN MAKE YOURS LAST
Not as useful as his later work

Not as well written as the companion book by the author
This book is very similar to "The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work : A Practical Guide from the Country's Foremost Relationship Expert".It almost seems like a first draft of the other book.Not as well organized or clearly written. It is a very good book, but I would recommend "The Seven Principles" over this one.

One of my favorites
This is one of my favorite relationship books.It really focuses on communication, and gives you real guidance on what to do, and what to watch out for, in your communication with your spouse.I asked my husband to read it after I had, and he very grudgingly accepted.Once he started reading it, however, he was quite impressed, and had many highlighters and sticky notes on his favorite parts.I highly recommend.Also, I suggest this over his "Seven Principles" book which I have also read.This seems more to be the real deal, and the "Seven Principles" more of a spin off. ... Good enough to be self-study book
This book is really amazing, gives good examples and alot of questions. It is easy to follow, but it hasn't the whole math of many derivations.

Tissue paper.
Probably great for PA boards and FP boards, but don't listen to the forums that recommend this for Step 2 or 3.

Too many errors
I'm studying for my third PA recertification exam and thought this would be a good tool to use.Unfortunately, this book has lots of mistakes, leaving me questioning what I know is correct.It has a great layout, is easy to read, and has nice summaries for each topic.But if you're unsure of the accuracy of the information, you end up going to other sources to study, which is double the work.

worthless book for USMLE Step 3
Everybody in my residency said that was the book they studied for their Step 3. The moment I turned a couple of pages I realised this will definitely not the way the Step 3 would be.

Top Book
I am a final year veterinary medical student and this book is fantastic. The procedures are easy to follow and pictures are really great. It reminds me a little of Nelson & Couto (so if you like that one this book is for you!). The only thing thats not very good is the ovariohysterctomy and the castration- were kind of confusing!

Useful surgical text
This book contains excellent descriptions of most procedures required in general practice. Good diagrams and has a better orthopaedic section than other texts. Should be in library of all general practices.

this is a darn good book
So I must admit that this is the book my favorite professor in college used.I also must admit that my favorite professor in college was Skip Wade the author.That said, this is a *very* good book if you're looking to understand the concepts behind orgo.Yes, there's memorizing (for goodness sakes, make flashcards!You can't get around this!).Yes, it's a pain.Yes, you'll find yourself doing 'back attacks' in your sleep.But in the end, this book will beat into you the intuition necessary to continue on in chemistry.And, as an added bonus, Wade throws in some little jokes to give you relief during those all night study sessions.Ah, memories...

Start Here
This is the first book I read on Asperger's, and I am glad that it was.Tony Attwood is one of the leading experts on Asperger's.He really gets it and doesn't try to fit an Asperger child into a nt understanding of the world, but goes to the Asperger world.It has really helped me understand myself and my children better.Well done!I can't wait to see more from him.

At the very top of my list
My son was found with some type of High Functioning Autism about two months ago. I'm a physician and behavioral researcher, though not in the area of autism or anything related to children or developmental disorders. I've read many books, scientific texts, online publications... you name it, in the past weeks. I've obtained very valuable information from all of them. This book does not go into the details of genetics or the neurological issues around Autism, in which I'm deeply interested, but I got that from other sources. However, it was from this book that I could draw a clear plan of action for my son and my family. Mr. Atwood must be a very smart and practical person. So far, of all that I've read, I'd put this book at the top, with the much more academic though less practical textbook on AS by Klin, Volkmar and Sparrow.

great book
This is a great review book, it got me 100% on my first anesthesia test!!!

Great prep for written boards
I thought this Q&A review book was easily the most "bang for the buck" in preparation for the written boards. It does require a solid fundamental knowledge of anesthesiology, but the questions are very representative of written board-type questions, and the answers are comprehensive and largely satisfactory. Textbook references are fairly comprehensive and accurate. I highly recommend this book as a final step in preparation for the written boards!

Fair coverage of a very difficult cluster of topics.
Since this book deals with evil, some parts are difficult reading. This is a fair, balanced scientific exploration of evil from minor to maximum, i.e. demonic possession. Not based on sensationalism.

save your money for Physical Organic Chemistry - by Dougherty & Anslyn
This book is written at the undergraduate level.The figures are a joke.It's a paperback and will fall apart.If you are in graduate school; buy the text by Anslyn & Dougherty instead.It is a nice hard bound book, durable & weighs a ton. Its worth the money and the weight in your backpack.

It is now more than a month after I was supposed to receive this book and I have not gotten it yet, what the hell is going on.

Update of a Classic
This is an update on a classic text that has been used by many graduate and advanced undergraduate students. CBT rips off the Buddha
CBT theorists tend to present in a lucid fashion ideas that have been therapeutically effective for centuries, or in the case of Mindfulness, millennia.Unfortunately, the authors of this book, in fine CBT tradition, manage yet again to misappropriate the work of others and call it 'a new approach'.There is nothing new in what CBT does, other than to re-label as 'evidence-based' the ideas of other innovators after some dubious random-control trials.If the reader wishes to avoid supporting the political recycling of every other therapy ever created, he/ she would better serve patients, clients and self by reading original texts from, for example, Buddhism, which are more authentically authored than CBT's eclectic bag of techniques.However, as with any heavily funded political movement, I suspect that the CBT movement will continue selling old rope as new as long as we want knowledge served up as fast food. It's enough to make any self-respecting therapist relapse into depression!

Depression researcher
A fantastic book explaining the basics behind previous research and how we've come to arrive at the new mindfulness-based concept.Highly recommended for new clinicians wanting to further expand their understanding to a brief background of the cognitive aspect of relapse of depression as well as the direction future research appears to be heading.

THE Textbook of Pediatrics.
THis is THE textbook of pediatrics. I own Rudolphs and Oski's as well. This is the book to buy (or read if you have MDconsult). It has the best diagrams, graphs, authors, and is the easiest to read. Don't waste your time with the minibooks such as currents or the mini Nelson's. Just read this one. You'll be glad.

The 17th edition of the Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics is available now.I have seen it on the publisher's website.This textbook is one of the main physician-level educational sources for pediatrics, and I highly recommend it for the personal libraries of all medical professionals as well as those in training.No matter what your field, there will always be the potential that you will become responsible for caring for a child.However, it is usually best to find the latest edition for any textbook.

In Depth Pediatric Reference
When I was on my PA Peds rotation, I often consulted this great reference in the medical library. Now, that I have my own book, I know its value. There is no other Pediatrics book out there that is better than this one. Don't waste your money on less expensive books like Current Pediatrics which doesn't cover half as many topics as Nelson. Excellent resource for working as a professional with children
I have been using this in my therapy practice and have found it very resourceful. It has wonderful suggestions for the therapist to untilize in assisting childrento express and resolve their issues when in situations they are unable to resolve through the expressions of words.
