A book that every opthometrist should have
This book have mostly of the phatologies that we found in every day practice.Even do that we as opthometrist don't treat all of them, is very important that as primary eye care providers we give our patients the proper information about their simptoms and their desease.I find this booh very handy to understand most of the ocular pathologies for non eye doctors and students as well. Neurology of Eye Movements
Many medical textbooks merely describe the clinical features of eye movement disorders. What I enjoyed about this book was that the authors provide excellent descriptions and explanations of eye movement disorders.The explanations of why these disorders occur provided me with a depth of understanding that I did not have prior to reading this book.The chapters on eye movement physiology, anatomy and clinical disorders are very comprehensive, well written, up to date and well referenced.The book is also offered on a CD-ROM with videos of eye movement disorders.I strongly recommend this book.As a neurologist, this book will be very useful for my clinical practice.

Worthwhile update and great CD
This new edition of The Neurology of Eye Movements is well worth the wait.The addition of the CD is significant and the videos on it are well-done and clearly visible.You can read all you want about oscillopsias (orother clinical disorders), but until you see one with the text nearby, it'sjust not clear.Well done.

It takes the point of view of the neurologist which is a higher plane than that of clinical eyecare, but it reads like a novel.The first half explains the structuresand their functions (theory), and the last half explains thedifferentialdiagnosis and therapies. Each chapter ends with the most extensive and upto date bibliography I have ever seen.Explanations such as how todistinguish the retic muscle are in plain language, clearer than most, andthere is no redundancyin text or illustrations. I haven't used this book yet. I wanna know how many exercises does this book have? I'm looking for a book that has some good eye exercises, not just information about eyes, or basic stuff.

Thorough and Clear
The information is presented in a very clear, well-organized, and succinct way.The instructions for the exercises are very clear and thorough.I especially like the "What to Watch For" and "Notes" sections for each exercise.I feel like it's hard not to do these exercises correctly with all the notes and observations the author adds.The testimonials at the beginning and the introductory chapters really gave me hope and enthusiasm in this program.I just started the program, but I feel this book will have been valuable even if I do not see improvement in the "First Stage" of the program.
Better than the other books!
If you are looking around Amazon at all the different vision improvement books, this is the one that is worth investing in. It is clear, succinct, and offers a step by step program that is thoroughly outlines and easy to follow. A lot of the other books on the subject offer a lot of information, but fail to give the reader a program to follow. Martin Sussman's book also explains why and how vision works and why it will improve with this program. I just got the book, but already his techniques have completely changed my (previously negative)attitude toward my vision. ... Read more

Outstanding atlas in a cheap binding
As with many Elsevier books, Spalton's is high quality context - and Spalton's is outstanding - but the book is bound in flimsy paper.Our copy arrived with the spine partially ripped at the joint; just resting this hefty volume on end ripped the front bottom corner of the cover. Looks great, but constructing a hardbound book with flimsy paper is a travesty.

Would have been 5 stars if it had been edited well and on non-glossy paper
Great book, but I actually like the earlier edition better.I have the latest edition, but was disappointed with the many errors in the book and on the CD that accompanies the book.The Index has numerous errors as topics are not listed on the pages stated in the index.The CD also has numerous errors as the pictures dont coincide with the chapters in the book even though they are supposed to.
The caption drawings make the atlas
This is a great resource for residents. A major problem with most atlases is that pictures of subtle findings are not properly annotated, so that the reader may miss the actual focus of the picture.Read more

finally a good one
A Practical Approach to Cardiac Anesthesia 3rd edition was a required text for me.However, I was delighted to discover its readability.Information is well organized and concise, yet packed w/ as much detail as you can take.I was greatful to not have to rake thru "fluff" in search of useful, comprehensible information.Good for any health professionalinterested in cardiac surgery and anesthesia.

This book is a must for all anesthesiology residents.

Good reference for OCT
This book is a more than adequate reference to OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) and its' applications to ocular diseases. The principles of OCT is a very good reference for understanding how the technology works. a starting point of any research topic in retina basic sciences
I found it helpful to form an overview of retinal photoreceptor's connecting cilium relation to retinal degerative diseases. initially I did not know where to start my research but after reading the book section about connecting cilium structure and function , I formed a plan of what are the main topics in my research.

Excellent reference
KJ LEE is an excellent reference text for Otolaryngology students with good explainations and wonderful illustrations.If you are a student wanting to do ENT you would benefit from this book immensely.

controversial
This book has been controversial for at least two reasons. The first reason is if colleagues are asked when to get this [thick, mostly outline format soft covered] text, some say right away for it can serve as a scaffold to "hang information on".And then there are those on the other side of the spectrum who say this book is difficult to take in for the junior folks on the service and should be reserved for those at the chief resident level who know these issues on several levels. A nonessential purchase.
For some reason, this book has become a standard for otolaryngology residents, despite the fact that much of the material is outdated and in some areas, incomplete.The concept for this book would make a great resource, if it really did cover the "essentials". ... Read more

Great Refresher
I used this book to prepare for the State Optician Boards.It was great, In have now lent out my copy several times.Well worth the money.

Lacking in some places
As far as content goes this manual is lacking in up to date therapies, and has a limited view on differential diagosis.Pictures are great, though, and in one small handy book. But, if you don't know what you're looking for itis very hard to find

Excellent Review
This book is truly a wonderful review book.It is well organized, has excellent pictures and tables, and focuses very well on high yield information.There are few things not covered such as optics.Some of the newer treatments in retina such as PDT, IVK, macugen, avastin are obviously not included.But a few other things that could be improved are discussion of visual field interpretation, corneal topography interpretation, a little more on surgical techniques, particularly cataract, and coverage of refractive surgery as this is now included on the OKAPS and boards.

Excellent handbook
This book is a must for every student and clinician in ophthalmology or optometry. It should be translated in other languages too. Easy to read, guides you through the procedures step by step. Some color pictures and a couple of updates in a later edition would make it excellent.
